I don't drink soy milk I use almond milk soo much better for you than soy.... but I do see a lot of soy milk being sold .....
I don't think there is anyone here who creates more polarization with their views and opinions than me. And the irony is I am one of the least polarized people since my views are never influenced by politics, religion or mass media, all of which I adamantly shun. The people who voted me down are probably the people who gobble down soy, naively believing it's a health food because it's been marketed that way, and probably aren't as healthy as they could and should be as a result. Then again, if three people disagreed with me, you would expect there would be three people challenging my factual opinion that soy is unhealthy.
So, you have a piss poor excuse? Hey, give that luxury to everybody else not responding but voting you down.
The only thing I really know about soy is most of it grown in the US is GMO. I remember reading a little bit about the female hormone mimics before too, but soy isn't a part of my diet so I've never given it much thought.
I am guilty of cutting firm tofu in thin slivers and soaking it in soy sauce. Then I fry it to a crisp in olive oil using a cast iron pan, sprinkle it with powder rosemary and occasionally a tiny bit of curry and ginger. I put it in Pita sandwiches with cucumbers, tomatoes, and tahini butter sauce. The tahini butter sauce is made with tahini butter, fresh ground garlic, soy milk, and tiny bit of lemon blended together. It is messy but good. I also top stir-fries with the crisp tofu or tempah. So I am completely guilty of liking soy. I also make chili and spaghetti using morningstar Crumbles. I am not a vegetarian but I was a Chef for many years. As for whether or not it is a health food never mattered to me. I am not a purest.
Was raised on breast milk, and although I put in 7 years as a vegetarian, I was dressing in girls clothes over a decade earlier. Some of us are just in between and it has nothing to do with our diet (although granted, in my case it was given expression mainly due to the fact that I am physically built like I am in between). I don't disbelieve what you are saying though, although I wouldn't attribute it to diet alone. There are innumerable factors behind this phenomenon, and it has (and does) occurred in relatively primitive societies, who eat and behave more manly than any of us.
I am highly allergic to soy, so obviously I don't think it is good for me. My Chinese sister-in-law tells me that the way people consume soy now is not good for them at all and that there are proper ways to prepare it. That's about all I know.
I am taking a Genetics class right now and the textbook I use goes on and on about how wonderful GMO food is and how grateful we should all be for the fact that they can put fish genes in tomatoes. Of course it also talks about how wonderful it is that we will soon be creating GMO people as well.... basically, I hate this book.
Do you mean - for e.g - screening out inherited conditions or do you mean creating 'supehumans' with four arms and the ability to breath under water etc etc ? What's the book called?
