Have you read Be Here Now? There's a part near the end where Ram Das talks about "going through the door too fast". You can't cross the threshold with your ego on. That's where the insanity festers.

Transcending desires and attachment includes even transcending the desire for transcendence.

It's ok to stop worrying about progress or "getting there". It's good to set goals, but they shouldn't pull you out of that point of presence, otherwise they're self-defeating. Just be where you are, who you are, and let go of the rest. Life will happen, transformation will happen, ascension will happen, regardless. It's not a contest.

Attachment to "ascension" is still attachment, and will impede ascension.

Just had to add how Beautiful I found that. Your expression - concise, yet enough.

Haha, that's exactly what I've found out since I first posted this topic. You hit the nail on the head. My ego is in the passenger seat right now and I'm just chilling letting things be as they are. I'm taking an objective, unbiased perspective right now. I am now consciously aware of all my thoughts and am able to control them.

It's cool, I swear I am able to manifest whatever in less than 2 days. It's crazy, I'm actually witnessing myself creating my reality and it's FUCKING COOL!!

    lol

Since I've stopped focusing on progressing further, I think I'm actually progressing faster but on a more stable basis. Every week I notice changes in my consciousness.

I'll admit, in the past my ego took control and I was drive into illusion. But it can happen to anyone, no one is exempt from illusion no matter what spiritual level you are.

I'm just glad I've been able to find my still point, my life is flowing so nicely now and I am actually making concrete steps towards my goals and future.

I've learned that ranks and spiritual levels don't matter, since we are all one and no one is better than the next guy. I got caught up in spiritual arrogance, I look back at my posts in the past and I can't help but feel disgusted. I am in shock at how much I've developed since my awakening just over a year ago.

Thanks again for the support/advice guys, it's always appreciated!

    No worries then.

Will? ... Tomorrow? The next day? Next year sometime? Enlightenment is realising that you are now ... already there. Eckhart reminds us that there is nothing you can do to get you closer to enlightenment than you are now. Why? Because you are already there if one would just realise it. Already where? ... Already spirit, already awareness/conciousness, already life, already truth.

    Some Eckhart:
"The moment you say or think 'my life' and believe in what you are saying (rather than it just being a linguistic convention), you have entered the realm of delusion. If there is such a thing as 'my life', it follows that I and life are two separate things, and so i can also lose my life, my imaginary treasured possession. Death becomes a seeming reality and a threat. Words and concepts split life into separate segments that have no reality in themselves. We could even say that the notion 'my life' is the original delusion of separateness, the source of ego. If I and life are two, if i am separate from life, then i am separate from all things, all beings, all people. But how could i be separate from life? What 'I' could there be apart from life, apart from being? It is utterly impossible.
    - So there is no such thing as 'my life', and I don't have a life ... I am life. I and life are one. It cannot be otherwise. So how can i lose my life? How can i lose something i don't have in the first place? How can i lose something that i am?
    It is impossible."

So bearing in mind what i quoted from Eckhart ... that you are indivisible from life and everything, then yes, it is surely not a contest. And it begs the question ... can 'I' become enlightened?
'Ascension' is a misleading word. How can one ascend to where one already is? 'Realisation' is a good word though ... :)

More on this from Adyashanti ... the clip is called 'The ground of silence' but i'd call it 'Adyashanti gets slightly frustrated for once and talks some real sense.':

Blackened ... it's good to see the craving has abated eh? ;)

    Hello :)

To a point, words and concepts are useful, but eventually you should drop your dependence upon those words - because they will just separate you even more. All of these concepts - Ego, Consciousness, Awakening, Truth will drag you instantly away from the ever present reality. You don't need to go anywhere to be here now. This idea of progression is simply not true.

Spirituality has nothing to do with who you are, that's just more crap to add onto the surface- albeit, sparkly, meaningful looking crap.

Development and progression are relative to one who is incomplete and separate, one who needs to get somewhere and do something in order to be fulfilled and 'awake'.

None of this is true, the world, you, me, everybody and everything else is completely unreal- a phantom separation created by the movement of thinking. Thinking too, is not separate, but simply a movement happening within the whole. When you no longer look for answers in this movement of thinking, when you no longer seek yourself and the world through a shadow of your being, you realise; what a bloody joke!

    :p
