CBS is providing the first episode of Picard for free on YouTube. I just watched it in fact. I thought it was good, but I won't be buying All Access just to watch one series.

 

I'm just going to wait for the DVD set to come out.

 

Watching it from youtube isn't my preference but not sure i wanna wait this long.

Question:

Why are people smoking on Star Trek: Picard like Cristobal Rios (some kind of cigarette) and Raffi Musiker (some kind of vaping device) since Gene Roddenberry hated tobacco,
and even turned down several cigarette company commercials to sponsor the original Star Trek back in the 1960’s

 

They are using the actual year rather stardates too. Which is a good thing

Ep 3, the scientist chic is on about how to pay for the mission, I'm thinking, thought money didn't exist in the 24th century

 

Anyway, they are finally on a ship, so should get more star trekky now

 

Yeah, they never really explain how that worked either.

But say I want something that isn't essential. Say I want a boat. How do I get it without money?

Episode 3, Romulan boss guy was Hugh from TNG ep I Borg if no one picked up on that, it wasn't exactly spelt out

Re-watched episode 3 and did anyone else notice Vasquez Rocks where James T Kirk fought the Gorn

 

Currency isn't required for necessities on Earth but there are things traded as currency in the galaxy. Gold pressed latinum, for instance.

 

What about Hookers on earth, you think the federation supplies hookers to whoever wants them?

Of course there's stuff traded on earth. It's just one or two lines in various episodes and First Contact that weren't thought out to well implying there is no money in the 24th century
