It appears many women stop being prostitutes when its not out of neccesity. So i can imagine in Star trek era there are far far less human prostitutes. Sex trafficking or sex tourism (to Orion likely ) though, is probably still thriving
What exactly is there to trade (other than VG’s mom) in a time where matter can be reconstituted to anything one wants? I think the whole point of introducing ”latinum” was that it is something replicators can't replicate faithfully.
Plenty of stuff; anything illegal, where you live, what job you do How do they decide who gets to live in Beverley Hills who lives in Buttwipe Arkansas. How do they decide who gets to be a sculptor who gets to clean toilets for a living without some kind of trade system PS: the mom thing leads me to believe Gul Dukat is the artist formerly known as someone else here PPS: DS9 was a boring suckfest BTW
I prefer the old series ( TOS, STTNG, DS9) to this CBS All Access stuff. CBS is using Star Trek fans' love for it to prop up their mostly lackluster subscription service.
I call bullshit on anyone that claims they are a fan of TOS.....at least in the sense they would be able to sit through every minute of every episode of Season 3 in particular without having to be restrained and their eyelids sewn open
I agree, Watching those episodes on ME TV they look both outdated and somewhat ridiculous with Kirk meeting Abe Lincoln, Space Hippies, Telekinetic Greeks, Space Indians, and The Gunfight at the OK Corral (the episode was noted for the fact that it aired exactly 87 years to the date after the real gunfight)
Thing that annoyed me most about DS9 was my favourite thing was that guy that was Scorpio in Dirty Harry and the Section 31 stuff, but lucky if there were even 3 episodes on that. Brilliant concept, but instead of expanding on that let's do 50 episodes on Bajoran religious leaders and Ferengi rules of acquisition. Garrrrhhh!
Elim Garak was a fascination character and yeah of course I would have loved to have seen more episodes featuring deputy director Sloan and Dr. Julian Bashir (especially after the job they did on Romulan Senator Cretak) but Captain Sisko was the Emissary to the prophets and they had to follow that plot-line. We agree on one point: too many episodes featuring the Ferengi
