When someone is showing off their newborn, and someone says, "Aww, isn't she beautiful?" I just nod my head, but I'm really thinking, "Beautiful? She looks like a damn alien to me. Hell, she'd look like a damn alien to a damn alien."
Have heard such amazing things about Breaking Bad, but meh. I finally started bingeing it last year, and just got through part of the first season and didn't like it.
But most of the check out lanes at Wal Mart have always been closed At least now I can just check out my own stuff instead of trying to somehow locate an employee in that giant void.
Perhaps it depends on the location but check out lanes used to be pretty full here before self checkouts. Maybe stores in other cities model their layout after cities in California or other busier cities and never have had the employees to match the lanes, but they definitely didn't have a dozen check out lanes for nothing a decade or two ago here. I'm not even knocking the principle of self-checkout, I use them from time to time but at least here, they definitely have replaced some labor.
yes, this so much! except today for some reason. i bought groceries today and for some reason, they had all but maybe two of the cashier lanes open. today's thursday, it's friday that every person in town runs to walmart, and normally on those fridays they only have a couple lanes open. 90% of the time when i go to the walmart here, there's 2 or 3 employees having a conversation at the self checkout cashier stand (occasionally they even look at the customers to see if we need anything). plus right behind them are a couple greeters, who are usually having personal conversations with their friends anyway and may or may not actually bother to greet anybody.
And 50 employees wondering around the store, presumably to help people but they stealthily avoid eye contact when you need them
50 people less (or at least a percentage of that) homeless or committing crimes to get by. It's an obnoxious huge corporation, who gives a Fuck?
personally, it doesn't bother me. although shitty work ethic does kind of annoy me so it would be nice if they would at least try and help the customers, but that's not the point here. but on the other hand, i am still baffled by all the people who claim that walmart is the most evil company ever for their underpayment of employees, even though you can walk out of walmart's front door and see 15 other businesses right there that pay their employees $3 an hour less and expect them to work a hell of a lot harder.
^true I used to be ..hippie-esque, if not a full blown hippie I dont even like hippies anymore lol. (Old hippies are still cool, young hippies annoy me) Use the backdoor, hippies
I don't like self checkouts. They take away jobs from youth. Even the most pointless job in the world at Costco, the receipt checker on your way out, like what a made up job, but I support it, because it gives somebody a job.
It seems like an unpopular opinion with the current political climate but I think religion is for people who can't figure out right and wrong on their own, and they fear death so much that they have to believe in a fantasy where there is something after. Another reason why I believe that people are only "good" when they're getting a reward for it. Plus, I think that the unique brand of patriotism we have here is ridiculous and makes us look like morons. I don't need a thousand flags all over my house, I'm pretty sure our neighbors know we're in America. And it's actually against the U.S. Flag Code to wear it as clothing as well. Another peeve of mine that seems to be unpopular these days. I'm seeing people wearing American shirts and hats and shoes, and I just face palm nonstop.
