Yeah. I don't want to minimise others experiences, but friends were posting everywhere that someone made an inappropriate comment or sat too close to them. Yes creepy things that shouldn't happen, but they are in a whole different ball park.

You’ve captured how I feel about it. I’ve been involved with guys who have crossed boundaries and I felt afraid in a few instances without going into details, but I still believe that we (our society) should be careful to not label someone guilty without due process of law or at least a reliable investigation.

as a guy, I know that I look terrifying (I've been told that I look like 'walking probable cause' or that I eat smaller humans with bbq sauce) and honestly, I'm paranoid about approaching anyone that I don't already know. I'm socially anxious, which makes me feel awkward, and that causes its own set of issues.. I already worry about how i come across as it stands, and now I worry that if I offend, and even if I don't wind up in jail, I'm still going to wind up with repercussions from even talking to someone. I don't want to be creepy or weird, and I try really hard to not be.. and save the pervy comments for someone I know well enough that they know I'm just doing it playfully. even then.. (shrugs) so I find it best.. in general.. to not interact with people if I can help it.

It has definitely hurt women's chances in the professional world as well. Now, many male employers are reluctant to hire female employees because of these witch hunt accusations, and how quickly an allegation or accusation of sexual harassment can be a career destroyer.

Yay so women have two choices, keep your mouth shut if you're sexually harrassed or face hiring discrimination in the workplace

    Apparently unpopular opinion: that's bullshit.

I have read about that. I don’t know how true that is, though. Because that would be discrimination. That said, I’m just the type who doesn’t make a judgement until all the evidence is presented. Or at least some. This isn’t to say allegations by themselves are false, but isolated allegations, no patterns of behavior, no witnesses or evidence, just seems like it’s wrong to label someone guilty.

Women have been silenced for a long time though so it’s incredibly important that we have a voice. I just think we can go about it a little better than what I’m seeing in the news.

I was responding to ol' 6 eyes and it certainly seems like thats what he's saying

But yeah, what you said...that is indeed discrimination and employers cant get away with that sort of thing any more. Companies pay a lot of money in legal fees to be told by huge teams of lawyers that they cant get away with that as well, so even if employers feel hesitant to hire women in theory, they cant legally discriminate against them in practice.

    Which is why that's bullshit
One reason why, at any rate

Don’t get me wrong. I still believe sexual harassment in the workplace is unacceptable regardless which gender is doing it to the other.

But if we’re gonna trivialize the definition of sexual harassment to be something as innocent as telling a female coworker that her LinkedIn photo is “stunning” then it’s going to cause huge problems between men and women in the workplace. (BTW, this LinkedIn incident actually happened and the guy lost his job)

Yea, I don’t really believe that employers are afraid to hire women. Sounds like a red pill article ...those types of men are likely the type that think nothing of harassing women, so now they’re more cognizant of potential lawsuits.

I was on a conf call the other day and one of the top execs said “fucking right!” He was happy about our performance and I was the only woman on the call. He hurried to apologize to me...he was sorry and said he shouldn’t have said that. I didn’t know what to say.

I don’t like when people at work say fuck etc lol I wondered how he knew that :D

But you know what I mean? He doesn’t need to walk on egg shells.

The last time I voted, I drew my own box and wrote Peyton Manning next to it, ticked it, folded it and drew a big hairy cock with a swastika on it and then folded that balot into the smallest square I could, just so someone had to take the time to unfold it, stare at a big hairy cock and swastika and then open it to find it was just some punk ass Denver Bronco fan anyway. :tearsofjoy:

Lawyer accused of sexism after complimenting barrister on 'stunning' LinkedIn picture
Female Barrister Calls Lawyer 'Sexist' After His Complimentary Message On Her 'Stunning' LinkedIn Profile Picture

I was mistaken that the guy got fired; this happened a long time ago so I forgot some of the details. However, an online lynch mob was sent his direction, and his reputation tarnished because of this.

Thank you 3rd wave feminism.

Well, I guess the idea is...how did he say it? Did it seem flirty etc?

My husband says things like that about me...while it’s nice to hear other men compliment me, in a work place, it depends on if it seems flirty and so on.

Idk...there are many men (and women) who use work as a place to date. I’ve always stayed away from complimenting men on anything other than work. They’re not my friend, lover, etc...so I don’t want to be perceived as flirty, either.

When I started my job I had to take a class on sexual harrassment - what constitutes sexual harrassment, different levels of harrassment, etc

Sexual harrassment is really clearly defined. I dont really buy any of this hype about men being afraid to hire women or afraid of being nice to women in the office for fear of being accused of sexual harrassment. Unless you're actually sexually harrassing someone you have nothing to worry about.

As far as the barrister....i don't have a linkedin but I would imagine it is really annoying, not to mention demeaning, to get unprofessional messages on a site meant for professional purposes.

I get that there are those who have no desire to date coworkers, and there are companies out there that frown on it. And I feel it’s wrong for employees to date supervisors, because it’s a way for bias and favoritism to take place.

But I don’t see much wrong with being flirtatious. There’s a difference between casual flirting and being overtly sexual. While I’m not a very flirty guy in person, I’ve flirted with girls I’m not interested in, just to be friendly. And to practice for girls I’m really interested in. A woman can politely reject a man’s romantic advances. But if he keeps bugging her after she says no, over and over again, only then it can become sexual harassment IMO
