Well, if you must know, things can and do go back to normal in a fairly short ammount of time. :)

A bad example? It's a c section for christ's sake! It's not a "say no to drugs" campaign!

there's more physical complications from a c-section than from a natural delivery. going for the c-section option when you can have a perfectly healty natural delivery isn't probably the best thing for anyone. i know you like tight holes and all that, but the risks of infection and trouble recovering are higher with surgery.

No, i don't think she's being a bad example on purpose, but she's in turn scaring other new mothers who may, unfortunately, be swayed by what celebrities say about such things. Ignorance is no excuse--public figures really should think before opening their mouths, its sort of part of their job.

its true, c-secs seems to be popular, WHY i do not know, ive seen it done many times, and even after the birth i had i'd never choose it as an 'easy option' or to escape labour pains, as has allready been said, labour pain vanishes after the birth and its so much harder to look after a newborn after such major surgery. Britney probably is scared but isnt every woman, celebs need to be careful about the example they set, as they have such an influence on some young women. oh and butt_buggs, ladies bits go back to normal after some pelvis floor excersises, all this crap about wanting no 'damage to the vaginas tightness' is just daft. admittedly stitches are never fun though, but they heal.

My sister had 2 emergency c-secs before I had my kids and I was terrified of not being able to deliver....luckily my who-who functioned properly ;)...my sister will not dialate, at all. With the first one, her cervix never even opened, with the second, 2 cm.

And bugsy....did your wife have a section, or do you have to put a board across so you don't fall in? :D

    That's the truth.

My 2nd was a c-section and I have had a hernia ever since. I don't know for sure that the two are related, but I can only assume. I didn't really get to rest after the operation.

Being operated on while you're awake is no picnic, either, IMO.

    ROFLMAO!

My c-section was an emergency, so I went through labor. I do think it's odd to schedule an unnecessary c-section to just avoid labor, and not because of any medical concerns for the baby or mom.

I was awake for my c-section. They told me that they don't give women general anesthesia because it's dangerous for the baby. And you don't feel pain during the operation, but you do feel everything moving. It's...odd.

So I could see my daughter before they even finished up on the other side of the curtain that was in front of my face.

I found it easier to recover physically from a vaginal birth.

You think bugsy's married? He's so obnoxious. I would think his attitude would keep women away.

you know, it's not so bad, really. you feel a lotta tugging and stuff, so it's wierd. my husband was in there with me, and he's pretty strong. but for some reason, seeing ME opened up like that nearly knocked him out. but the minute they got my little princess out, he was gone! lol. thankfully my mother in law was in there, too, and two of my nurses were people i knew very well. it was like being at home.

hehe. i know. it's kinda nasty looking. dave had a way easier time when his little sister was giving birth than he did with mine. when i started to convulse after my water broke he turned really white and started screaming for a nurse while trying to hold me on the table. it was so sad. he's really relieved that i'm having another c-section.

I got to be in the delivery room when my grand-daughter was born. My daughter does ok with labor UNTIL she is about 7 or 8cm dialated...then she yells about pain, being to hot/cold every 2 minutes, just not being able to get comfortable, yells at doc to hurry up & get the kid out NOW. As she was squeezing my hand and I remind her that I did this 7 times (once at home without a doc) she yells & says its cuz I'm totally crazy.
Having a tubal ligation the morning after the 7th baby was born was worse then any of my labors.

i don't get this baggy bits thing from natural childbirth...especially if the doc has to cut yer a lil' to help the baby out.....nearly all the lasses i know who had kids the natural way asked the doxy to pop an "extra stitch" in when he was cleaning up..keeping everything pretty snug....don't all lasses do this? :H

Most womyn who have to have a section CHOOSE to do it while awake. General Anesthetic is HARD on a baby, it can actually cause respiratory problems and excessive sleepiness AND most womyn WANT to see their babies as soon as they are born.

In short, we care more about our CHILDREN than our own comfort. I've had four sections while wide awake. I'd have done ANYTHING to avoid general Anesthesia. My own comfort was NOTHNING compared to the wellbeing of my baby, and my need to be awake so I could hold them and nurse them right after birth.
