y'all use "doxy" to mean doctor now? i thought that meant whore. anyhoo, i've never heard of this "extra stitch" thing. were you kidding?
yeah, doxy = doctor (soz, keep typin in bleedin' colloquilisms) well, yeah, the extra stitch....all the mothers i know asked the doctor to pop it in...stops things gettin' like 2lbs or raw liver between the legs....don't y'all do that in that part of the world? poor husbands
maggiesugar....my reaction was that of a man, who won't be pushing out any baby's anytime soon.....of course the health and wellbeing of both mother and baby should be the most important thing still looks farkin' scary tho'
hmmm... I never knew general anesthesia was dangerous for the baby... I really hope I don't ever have to have a c-section then.... I'm deathly afraid of them. The thought alone makes me want to hyperventalate. With my first son they scared me off so bad. They didn't tell me what they were doing they just scared the crap out of me. I'm glad he came naturally before they did what they were doing because I was terrified. Ever since then, forget it, I can't even think of an epidural.... Never had one and I don't think I'd ever like one. ekk... Have to stop thinking about the c-section thing now or I'm going to really upset myself. I really should start preparing for every option though, I don't want to freak out if something goes wrong.
well hell, it's not like stickin' your foot in a coffee can, for heaven's sake. you just have to do your kegels and you're back to a snappin' pussy.
you know, it's really not that bad. it's pretty surprising how calm you can be about the whole thing when shit goes wrong and you have to have it done or lose your baby. you just don't care HOW they save your baby, so long as it gets done.
i know what you mean, I'd go through with it for my child's safety... I'd just be freaking out myself. I'm more worried about my sanity if the time came for something like that. I'd do anything for the baby but I don't know how I'd handle it myself, lol.
oh yeah, they still do the ol' pelvic floor exercises as well.......i guess it's just that the doxy is there with needle and thread anyway....i guess lasses here just see it as a good idea, and the doctor is always happy to do it *shrugs*
Earthy, I have had regional anesthesia (epidurals and spinals) and I have had General Anesthesia. (In a General, you are "knocked out." In a Regional, they place medicine in your spinal lining to totally numb the area they will be operating on.) I can tell you from personal expericece, I would MUCH rather have a Regional. General Anesthesia is pretty awful, you feel like shit, a lot of people puke (although I was dry heaving after my last Spinal) and it can take a long time to wake up. Regional Anesthesia CAN get to the baby, it takes longer and MUCH less medicine is used, so there is a much lower risk of respiratory depression in the baby. Many US hospitals will often only now use General Anes during a "Crash" section (A true emergency where seconds count, these account for less than 1% of all births) and in situations where a womyn has spinal problems and a epidural or spinal can't be placed. Y'know how in old movies they used to spank babies on the butt when they were born? That was because they were often ASLEEP due to General Anesthesia used during even vaginal births. It is an urban legend that doctors make a womyn "Tighter" during the repair of a tear or epi cut during the birth. My doc says, first of all, the pelvic floor would have to be shored up, a "Stitch" is NOT going to make a vagina tighter, it isn't the way the female body works, and second, a doctor would lose his license (at least in the USA) for performing unwarrented surgery.
lol. i suppose these women just tell their husbands they had it done. you know, because then the husbands will be convincing themselves that it is tighter...tell all their friends, and the wives have a good laugh.
It was the terrifying, but they told me that if I didn't let them cut me open, the baby would die. Do you think the little brat appreciates that now? Nooooooo.
Don't freak yourself out. Don't worry. When something like that happens you go into Mama Survival Mode and you just do what you gotta do. You're a mom, so I'm sure you already know that when it's for your baby, you can do anything. The courage is there. Also, if you do have to have one, it is over quickly. Don't stress, though. Once I saw my baby, I was fine. You know how it is.
that's okay, oz, if it makes you feel better thinking that women are having this procedure done every time they have a baby, you go right on ahead...
i will, i guess the lasses were lying an odd lie....just because i was surprised at the tightness....but yes, they musta been lying, urban legends must be kept it seems, even in the bedroom
