No, Seriously

Jobs took us from a world of dialing in to a subscription payment main frames in order to have a lousy computer from just a DUMB terminal keyboard in your home, to being able to have your very own real computer in your own home. This was awesomely new. However, Woz really made it happen. It took both. And Woz got tried of Steve's power trip shit and just left.

However they were both way cutting edge, and made the world what it is today. They invented the first home computer and I have always owned an Apple since my Apple IIe which I still own. It is a 64k computer (the same size as what got Apollo to the Moon and back) and I spent major bucks to buy and plug in a huge expansion card that was like 10 inches long and 4 inches high to give me an additional 64k and to make MY Computer into an 128k Huge computer. Holy WOW!

Steve was awesome. Rock on.

I think he was a shrewd, unethical businessman (at least for the last decade or so).

He won't be missed by me; I only hope this doesn't make iPad even more popular like Jackson's death making This Is It a blockbuster.

Sure this is sad, but why is it news? He made a fortune by ripping people off by ridiculously overcharging for sub par products. I honestly couldn't give less of a shit about a corporate asshole basically scaming money off of people.

That's crap. 22 years on Macs. You couldn't destroy an Apple Computer. I tried. You got what you paid for. Americans have just been buying Dick Nixon's Road Paving to Open up China Quality Merchandise for the length of your life at K-Mart & the Dollar Store for so long they have forgotten the shit they buy cheap either doesn't work (well as in Windows PC's) or breaks when you use it. Dick Nixon was responsible for Kent State University Massacre; Watergate; and sending all of the USA's lucrative quality manufacturing to a remote outsource outpost that you can't even check on for toxicity til it gets here. Such was every Windows PC & Bill Gates. YET--Made in USA was a standard of the past that Apple still upheld even though they manufactured in Singapore, Taiwan, Japan & Malaysia (open countries to inspection). And the operating system was as inert as a Rolls Royce & didn't need to be re-installed every time you booted up to insure programmers a job.

Let's see what you can invent in your short-assed inferior broke-assed economically lifetime & if it is as good as the man who just passed today & we'll honor you. If not, then don't speak evil of the dead or someone who has done well in their lifetime or what you don't know anything about.

skycanvas... A mac computer costs over $2000 for shitty computer parts, if you bought the equivilant of all the mac parts but made it a pc the computer would only cost maybe $500-$700. You pay more than double just because it's apple. Also have you seen the macbook air? You drop that thing once and it will probably be trash.

Ipods are also a huge ripoff. New itunes software kills off old ipods and makes them completely unusable (happened to my old shuffle), and they are extremely easy to break, most ipod touch screens I have see have huge cracks running through them.

So because (I assume) you are older you think you know shit? Well you obviously don't. And why should I honor him? Has he solved world hunger? war? the economic disaster? No, he has not. He made shitty products and sold them to gullible people for vast amounts of money, and for that he should be honored? I just don't understand why everyone has a hard on for this guy...

When I heard the news last nite, it make me think about my first Mac, which was a Mac Plus that I bought in 1986. The Mac Plus was the first Mac that had 1 MB of RAM. So, I went down to the basement and pulled it out of a huge pile of stuff.

It still booted! I love the Mac.

I had the pleasure of being in the audience for a number of his "just one more thing ..." presentations. I will cherish the memory of this great man.

Its not the MAN I mourn. Yes, he did a lot for Mac and took the company a long way in the last 30 years, but I mourn the fact that he died the same way my father did - pancreatic cancer

 

It's sad he died, but I am not going to praise the guy either.
