you've spoken to every metal band around? and like they're actually gonna say "yeah Pat, I wear makeup because I think it looks cool" of course they're not, its all about appearances, to think otherwise is ignorant. Never claimed to know everything, but I know that people care about how they're perceived by others... no matter what fuckin' argument you make...

Bottom line, regardless of what they say. They wear makeup and elaborate outfits to convey a certain image... THAT is caring about how you look no matter what you may think.

My hubby doesn't agree though; the only time I get this treat is on Halloween, after he washes his "corpse paint" off,there's always a bit left around his eyes- he looks like he's wearing black eyeliner and I think it's hawt!

 

Actually I have talked to just about every big metal band on the planet and I assure you, that when you're talking to a Norwegian black metal artist, the conversation isn't what you think it would be.

 

I don't wear make up and personally think that most people look better without it (male and female) So I say "nay".

 

Okay man, stop fighting about how manly it is to wear make-up. So drop it, and go watch porn or put on make-up or something. Weirdo.

 

I'm doing it because I want to convey a certain image. As much for myself as for other people... If the world were empty and I was the only one in it, then no, I probably wouldn't wear makeup simple because of the effort it takes to put on. The simple fact that I only wear it when I go out should say that right there. I'd get it tattooed on permanently, but I like variety, can't say there's a single way that I apply makeup that I'd be happy wearing forever.

 

I don't. No offense like, make up on men doesn't do it for me. I have dated guys who have worn make up though. But whatever it's not like my opinion matters I'm just words on a screen

 

What an ass... if you wanna judge me as a weirdo just because of how I look, then you're probably not the type of person I'd care to know anyways. go skate into traffic or something.

But you're the one saying anyone (in this case metal dudes) wearing make-up and elaborate outfits are automatically doing it just to convery a certain message

Actually I don't, I used to skate myself so lol And I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
But it does annoy me that people have this small-minded view of things, makeup is a "chick thing" because society makes it a chick thing. Like I said earlier, in reality its just pigment. It has no meaning to it. We give it a meaning and make it feminine, but there's nothing feminine about pigment.

 

Okay. I do admit I was being an ass. So I'm sorry. But I still don't think guys should be wearing make-up. Just my opinion.

 

i don't think you're gonna win with these two. one's just a dumb youngin and the other doesn't even realize that he agrees with you.

 

I'm not saying that every metal dude ever in existence does it to convey an image... maybe you do truly believe in the symbolism of it. Maybe it does mean something to you... but deep down, I guarantee a lot of metal dudes could give a shit less about the symbolism and just think it looks cool. What someone claims their position is on something and what it actually is is two completely different things. I didn't mean any offense by it... even though I knew you'd take it offensively. Its human nature to go on the defense when someone questions something you believe in. Obviously, I'm not impervious to that either. You've met a lot of these guys, but you can't claim to know their reasons for what they do no matter what they say. I can't claim that either, but common sense tells me that there's more than a few that care about their image.

 

The average male mind doesn't ever really desire to want to wear make-up. It's just not programmed into the majority of us. Guys who do wear make-up most likely have inherited slight female thought patterns.

Just like most dudes don't have the ability to feel sympathy for animals they eat. Just not programmed into us. Though there are exceptions of course because not all vegetarians are female.

Never intended to win, just wanted to put my view out there and maybe make someone question things a little deeper than their initial view that they're so used to seeing. That's all I really ever intend to do with my comments.

 

I base what I say from what they told me and I believe them but you obviously don't. They see black metal as a war. They do it because they're beliefs were trampled on and many innocent people from they're culture were killed. So this is they're form of "Pagan Pride" if you will. They don't do it because it looks cool.

Just like there is gay pride day and black history month, it's all representing somethng that people believe in

 

^i find this amusing. that, for one, you think vegetarians don't eat meat out of sympathy. and, two, that you think this is a good comparison to the femininity of wearing makeup.


personally i think guys wearing makeup look gay(yeah i said it.) and i think guys who are vegetarian are making informed choices.
