I would venture to guess that this number is zero. At least in terms of people who are worth talking to about these things.

If there is one thing I am absolutely sure of, it's that you are correct there. HHB does not seek to be a tool. lol

If your search is more then just a whim and you do actually get involved in this lifestyle and spend a couple of years dealing with the people who crawl out from under the rugs to suck the life out of those who actually went out and did something, then you may one day come to understand why HHB's 'bad attitude' is such a common thing amongst some people.

    On a related note...

100% correct... but you know what does have to do with how they will work? The ability to learn and accept new things into your mind. The inability or non-desire of someone to take the 10 minutes out of their life to learn how to use a search engine, most definitely does relate to what HHB was referring to, which wasn't a person's ability to be motivated or work hard, it was
    I believe.

    and

There are also more then enough morons, still doesn't stop more from popping up now does it?

Hey wandrn...I really think you have HHB all wrong. He's never pretended that he was here to guide and hold the hands of the hip population in their quest for community. In fact, he clearly has a disclaimer in his info..."the old asshole". Read his posts and you'll find that HHB has a lot of valuable information to share with people that are trying to live this way. Is it a peaceful message? Well, HHB has a way of poking his finger in the eye of someone that he feels isn't seeing something clearly. Yeah it stings and you might think "What a fuck weed", but he usually has a point that he's trying to make. I guess what I'm saying is that he's gotten to the stage that tact is just more words that he doesn't feel inspired to share. HHB, this isn't meant as a criticism...it just the way I'm reading it. If I'm wrong...I'm sure you'll let me know :cheers2:

If someone is truly inspired to pursue the self sufficient lifestyle they surely wouldn't be dissuaded by a gruff personality on a discussion forum.

With that said, each one of us is constantly "advertising" ourselves to others... whether for friendship or community or whatever, just by how we present ourselves. I personally require a very peaceful and harmonious energy in my home environment, so I tend to be attracted to those who emanate that, and stay away from those that don't. No judgment of anyone, just what feels right.

As for the community listings I agree with old wolf and HBH if someone isn't willing to spend a couple of evenings searching on the web they probably don’t have much to offer a community and I’m sure a community doesn’t want to waste time on them.

Most communities only want to be listed in certain places that they choose; they already have enough traffic to weed through.

Just like you probably wouldn't want a random person to hang ads for you a new roommate all over Grand Central Station or in the L.A. metro bus station.
You would probably rather post a small ad in a coffee shop or a place you like to hang out in yourself.

its been my experience that people like "wandrnshaman" are generally so full of shit there eyes are turning brown..
i would venture to guess he also professes to be a "zen buddhist"..

lol,, we have a rather large sign on our gate due to people like him it reads "ZEN FREE ZONE!!""

i really dont care if im one big fucking ray of sunshine or a fucking storm cloud raining forty hells on someones parade.. nor do i feel the need to explain the way i am to the likes of wandrnshaman..quite frankly i loathe high holies.. they take away whatever hippie i have left in me with there holier than thou pompous attitudes..

thanks to all of you who defended me,although with people like wandrnshaman its not necessary..
they love people like me,it gives them someone to be better than in there own minds eye..lol im happy to oblige...

however like i said any of them we have ever met spend far more time running there mouth pointing out what they perceive to be there virtues and condemning what they perceive to be your lack there of than they do anything else,,including work..

thus the sign on the gate,, lol

we actually had someone go to a gathering and hand our information out to everyone they came across saying it was there place..
needless to say that person was told to get the fuck off our property and not return as soon as we found out...

For me the 1 Question that's of any importance is "how are you Being"? The doing and talking are really irrelevant, and ultimately destructive, if they don't arise out of Being... hense the insanity we see in the world today.

    Nice..:)

We are all living in community right NOW…

You don’t need 40 acres, a cool school bus or a new teepee.
Then people say I just need the right people. Never satisfied

What about right NOW.. who are your neighbors? Who is your family? Who is your community.

Where ever you go there you are.
You can go live in a shack in the Amazon or live in a pent house in New Jersey and you are still you.

LOL, that made me laugh HHB. I don't blame you for disliking the pretense and pomp of "spiritual-ites" and I know you have a good BS detector and can smell that from a mile away. All that holier-than-thou stuff really has nothing to do with Zen, by the way, but unfortunately many people practice nastiness in the name of spirituality or religion, presented in a flowery, sugary, "I'm just trying to help you" fashion. Many of them don't even realize they're doing it.

lol we're to the point that just the word "ZEN" stirs a certain ,,well lets just say it makes us vomit a little in our mouth lol...

i know that this is not the true meaning of zen buddhism,,that is why it bothers us so much to see so many following a path of self righteous behavior in the name of "zen"...

so i guess i should clarify to the true zen buddhists,,if your out there lol,, i meant no offense,,its just the rest of those that claim your faith that repulse us,,not you.. lol

    lol too damned funny.

About a year or two ago, an old friend looked us up.

She wanted to invite us to join her in a beautiful idea, 'very similar to ours' she said.

Now, she had heard little bits and piece of what we had been planning, and from those, and from her own choices, she formed her own idea of what the realization of something like this was.

Apparently she had attended some 10 day course at a zen/living life/ being in the now thing a while before... and she really enjoyed her time there, and in part wanted to bring that feeling along...

Needless to say, meditation, being zen, sharing, quietness, peace, no death stuff (meat and dairy [as an aside note, you really aren't supposed to kill the cow to get the milk, its considered bad form... lol ]), and on and on it went...

Did it help that she had also shaved her head? most likely not... lol
Did it help that she was wearing an orange shirt on her msn pic with short hair? probably even less... lol

You want to be in the now? Feel what it really means to experience a moment of time? Discover your place in the scheme of things? Go for a long trip into the bush, wherever you are, don't take anyone with you, don't take a gun or a cell phone, don't bring food or water, and don't come back for a month.

You will forever know your place in the universe. :)

Ive actually met and spent some time with Hippyhillbilly. I respect him a great deal and he is very wise...and Ive met the kind of people that are the reasons for the "No ZEN" sign that he hangs on his gate. Those people are very narcissistic and are full of shit...I think Dilldaf and HHB know who im talking about.

Hows the sweat lodge holding out?

    ok, didnt mean to flame

lol, very true hippy. You must be talking about waking up at 4am, coming to the main house, tripping all over the bodies sprawled everywhere before work... Those were frigid nights.

sweat lodge must be a hot spot now...no pun intended :cheers2:
