Stinkfist is probably my favorite, such a sick video too.

Show me that you love me and that we belong together.
    Shoulder deep within the borderline.
Relax. Turn around and take my hand

Spotify is the biggest music streaming service btw.
Anyway i found a live vid that adequately demonstrates how fun they are and how good they rock. But the sound quality of recording (with a phone) is bad

  3. Undertow was the only Tool album I liked.

Love this kind of rock so much

  6. Rock is all so paint by numbers now. It's supposed to be this wild thing, but everyone knows just what notes to play and where. They go to college to become rock stars. Bleh. I like old punk, but even punk has become completely formulaic. "This is where the screaming goes." "This is where the woah-ohs go." I think it may be true that everything has just been done.

You're generalizing. It's not that bad. Unless nothing out there suits your taste. But yeah, then its most likely your taste, not the lack of real quality rock. A band like Dzenghis Khan really does it for me.

Couldn't share my absolute favs though. Check out Rosie by them on Spotify if you can be bothered!

  8. I didn't even listen to Dzenghis Khan. Nothing really suits my taste, though, so I'm not even going to give it a chance. I can't be bothered. They're all scripted.

Well, there you go. Don't put it on those bands or rock in general when its you ;)

  10. It's NOT me, though. I keep giving all these bands everyone recommends a chance, only to discover nothing surprising there at all.

What's with all these throwback 70s bands these days? Crikey, I don't even want to get into it. At this point, I really just want to hear utter crap. I don't even want to hear music anymore.

Sounds like it really is you.

    You did?

  12. I always do. I'm not the type to be stupid. It isn't just me. Everything has truly been done before. All there are is copies of other acts or previous eras. It's like..."loud riff #388383838383." Who cares? It's not surprising. It's not outrageous. It's just going through the motions. Where are the true melodies?

People who love loud riffs would be my guess. But if all new stuff would be exact copies you would be right. It's the variations on similar themes and song structures that keep it interesting for lovers of a certain genre.

It all sounds like a copy of the music that came before, with less detail. Like. Copying an Mp3 over and over. And yeah, formulaic.

That its formulaic has indeed never been a turndown for me if the songs and music are solid and its played with passion and a lot of energy.

No, well. You have a point. Most people seem to agree with you.

It seems that there was a generation who listened to lots of different styles of music, and they made interesting, music. Then the next generation listened only to that music and their music was less interesting as a result. Then the next generation only listened to THAT..
