I remember my dad bringing me into the lounge to watch it when it first aired. It was cool cause I was a teen and swearing on a cartoon, plus it was kind of cute.

But it is stupid. It was stupid then and it's stupid now.

I like American Dad the most. Family Guy has gone down hill, think I've outgrown much of the HUMOUR. Stan on American Dad seems to be akin to me plus I like the alien Roger, he always makes me laugh.

The cute thing and it's ability to address current affairs weekly after the first couple seasons are probably what boosted it's popularity. IIRC when Beavis and Butthead were swearing, there was much more resistance to it.
