ahhhhh! the hair wash was the only good part of cutting off my last set of dreadies. after hours of tears and combing, a good scalp wash was the best!
I don't care if my hair is offensive when I'm not employed. I want to present a professional attitude while in the classroom. Once class has finished, I don't care. I only did neglect for four months and I never once felt my hair looked offensive. I loved it tons more than when I backcombed. I may just be a summer dreader. lol Thanks everyone for the comments. Felt weird waking up this mornign without any knots.
I realize that, I was just saying if you're planning to take up the same job after the summer, you will just be reaching the point where most would consider it it's least professional looking.... I wasen't saying it's offensive, I'm not sure if I personally like the look of half neglected hair or mature dreads more....
Gotcha. =) I do'nt think I'd ever be able to have dreads working in this position so I don't think if I were to get it again next Sept that I'd be allowed even if they were full on dreadlocks. Maybe I could... but because of the industry, I don't think I would represent the expectations of students for when they graduate.
It doesn't suck at all. In fact, I'm absolutely blessed to have fallen into this opportunity. It's not every day you get approached and asked to teach at college level. I don't know if this is the career I want, but you are darn right I'm going to try it out and see. =) Life can be a very long time, this is only a blip on the radar. There is no negative here, just happiness.
Good for you, that's really exciting!! Congrats on a great opportunity! And you're right, you only have another 70 years or so to try something new or dread your hair again
