How do we even know the bar informed her there was liquid nitrogen in the drink? I'm pretty sure I've seen this served in bars before and the bar just called it by some snazzy name and made a big production out of serving it without ever blatantly saying that liquid nitrogen is what is used to create the effect.

This drink had probably been served countless times before in the same bar without any ill effects.

I don't think its anyone's fault. The poor girl was just trying to enjoy her birthday and I'm guessing the bar was within its legal requirements to produce and sell the drink..

I've never had one of these drinks (and likely never will, out of preference and the fact MPs now want it banned) but I would have thought you'd wait until the smoke had gone before drinking, which could have been why she ended up losing her stomach, if she actually drank the smoke, and she also may not have been informed that it was liquid nitrogen.

There were rumours about 'goldschlager' (a drink with flakes of gold in it) that the flakes would cut the inside of your throat to get the alcohol into your system quicker. Apparently this was proven to be bullshit but nowadays people will do just about anything to get you to spend your money, you have to be careful with most things.. in party holiday destinations (magaluf for ex) they now sell nitrous oxide/laughing gas sucked out through balloons to all the teenagers that go there on holiday..

'Deprivation of oxygen to the brain, called hypoxia, can cause many long-term problems, including memory loss.

In the short term, inhalants can cause users to have seizures or even sudden death.

People who inhale large amounts of nitrous oxide from a balloon can die of suffocation.'

    She ordered a nitro jagermeister.
Perhaps she was unaware what the 'nitro' part meant.
I have a feeling she knew.

yeah, if this is true you know, other people have drinked it before without any stomach perfurations and shit, it definitely was an accident, no reason to call anybody stupid

you know, im sure some people die skydiving, but i dont think we can call anyone who skydives stupid

    its sad actually i think

Actually I do think jumping out of a perfectly good airplane is a pretty stupid thing to do, but that's just me...

I don't consider myself a stupid person, but if I saw a drink with the word nitro in the name I don't think it would cross my mind that it contains a deadly substance. I would probably just think they were trying to give it a "cool " name.

I guess it depends if she had heard of it before and requested it.
Then I would hope she investigated what it was before drinking, and made an informed choice.
If she saw somebody else have one and, on the spur of the moment, asked for one - I doubt she would have investigated what it was.
Especially if the person she saw dirink it was perfectly ok.
Personally, I'd be a little inquisitive about it.
The thing is, the stuff has been used for many years.
This is the first time I have known it to have done this to somebody.
So perhaps she knew this and thought nothing of it - even though she knew what was in it.

    I'm sticking to warm lager.
