Hi, I'm Izzen, aka Mambo, aka Zenna. I'm a crazy tree talker looking get back to my "universal roots" and be less afraid of mean people by fashioning myself a lion's mane It's already working. I'm going the neglect route, and my long long hair (10+ inches of never-trimmed wilderness) is cooperating very nicely. I'm a painter/draughts(wo)man by trade, but still in college. There's always room for more learning. I work laid-back childcare. This site is awesome and has answered all of the questions that came up. Not to mention my bf is good friends with a local Rasta-reggae group (the Black Rebels), who gave me the first tips. Thanks!
Heyo all, My name is Cameron, although I'm nicknamed Wameron. 17 (18 in a few months), Live in FNQ Australia, the most beautiful area! Currently in my first year of uni studying a bachelor of engineering, hoping to major in environmental engineering. Into photography, art, science, 4wding, camping, bushwalking and hiking, just walking around the bush in the middle of nowhere to chill or look for reptiles or invertebrates. I keep and breed snakes, dragons, tarantulas, centipedes and such. Learning to firetwirl, contact staff. Had dreads for one month now. Got them becaus I have always loved dreadlocks and have wanted them for many years before hand, and now that im out of high school I could. Cameron
I usually avoid threads like this, but then I normally have something constructive to say in others... ...and here I don't, not really, since I'm just about to jump in and start my journey with dreadlocks. So I'm Polish, live currently in England, where I'm going to start my degree in September. I'm a rock climber, interested in all things great and small, especially parrots, ethology and behaviour. Planning on cultivating my idealism and going into wildlife conservation. Have wanted dreadlocks for over 3 yrs now, but couldn't get them during my studies at college. Now the time has come finally. I am aware that natural/neglect method is "the best one", but I think I'm going to backcomb mine a little bit, just to make them easier to separate, as my hair has tendency do form one huge mess. No wax etc. Here I am, hoping to join the big happy family
Where to begin....... I'm 5'9 with dark brownish-blondish hair People often tell me I'm handsome MANY people tell me that I have exceptionally good manners, which I do and I take great pride in that. I enjoy laying in the grass I enjoy sitting on large rocks near the water, especially during sunsets I enjoy philosophical conversations I hate the vanity of today I hate the smell of city buses I love animals I hate when people have expectations of me CCR is my favorite band I absolutely love wandering for the sake of wandering I love chess
hey guyssss, this is me and my year old (very nearly) dreadies theyre a little wayward, but im not sure what to do about them... im working on combining them and making them thicker with lots and lots of bands though, i dont know much anout dreads... so im hoping this will work? but yeah, hi. apart from dreads, i like music and playing bass guitar, motorbikes and photography and things how is everyone?
Hi, my name is Brad, I don't really have any friends so I'm gunna get dreadlocks to keep me company and hopefully people will like me more then! My hair is about 5 inches long and hopefully when I'm done highschool I can convince my mom to let me get dreads... she's being a total bitch about it so I just stopped combing my hair, little does she know I'll have dreads in like a couple months or something HAHAHA! I pretty much love dreads and can't wait for them to grow so I can have them! I pretty much just want them now, but I guess I can wait a couple months.
It’s been really fun and entertaining reading everyone’s introductions, thanks I’m new to the forum, just got my hair dreaded 5 weeks ago and this forum has been indispensable for me- thank you! I’m Rebecca but they call me ‘Ribqa’ here- I’ve been living in a small town in Ethiopia for almost two years as a community volunteer and it’s been a wild experience. I’ve thought about dreading my hair for the past few years but never had the time it would take- here I definitely do. First I backcombed, twisted with wax and then pulled the hair through, knotting it. Since then I washed it out and am trying backcombing. I think this will require purchasing a mirror.
Yeah actually, I am. That's exciting, if you ever have any questions let me know! I'm finished in January but I'm thinking of extending another year. Very funny Pypes!!
Hi everyone I've had dreads for 6+ years(I did rip n' twist, also backcombing, and wax for a little while until I realized how crappy it was--maybe 3 months?). I found this forum when I was doing an extensive search for "how to get rid of mold in your dreads" (since I don't want to chop them off!). I'll post a pic later, I'm abysmally lazy at getting my pics off my camera and onto the computer.
im 21 a vegetarian from the northern states and studying Spanish, Nonprofit Leadership, and Peace and Conflict transformation. i have no idea what i want to do with my life but i wanna speak spanish and help people. i've had my dreads for almost 8 months now, i backcombed them and used wax, i haven't used wax since the first couple months really and don't plan on ever using it again.
