Pretty much hit the nail on the head. These people are NO THREAT to to you, your way of life or the country in general. Because of the actions of a few silly people don't let the government go over the top unnecessarily while we sit back and whinge that our liberties are being taken away. I normally read the Indy on Sunday but after their shockingly terrible journalism covering this yesterday I'm tempted never to buy it again. Pure scaremongering bullshit over what is essentially a very very small fry. Blow me up... I'm ready... They're everywhere... Terrorists... The reactions of some people to this is as ridiculous as the p*edo discussion. If you're going to spread vicious lies to perpetuate more hatred of certain sections of society then as someone else requested post sources please. Otherwise it's spiteful hearsay.
Hear hear, the problem is though that civil liberties have been and will be eroded and no-one is going to go to the street, hit em in the pocket and they might, but otherwise they won't not over some possible restriction of freedom anyways. I think society is requiring governments to behave the way they are anyway, people want to believe someone is making the efforts to look after them, and all these laws and restrictions sound like that is what they are doing. It is people driven not the other way round. .
yes but its easy for us to say as we havent been in the immediate vicinity of the attempted attacks. for those who were, im sure they feel very differently on the matter. when you are that close to the potential loss of your life then the threat of the attacks is greatly increased.
Of course that is true Autumn but that is still just about personal safety and doesn't concern itself with issues about our "way of life" which politicians use for the aggrandisement of each event. Some politicians will gain a lot of kudos out of what are in fact a burning car and a couple of parking tickets. I know it could of been worse but when its looked at in the cold light of day its a pathetic excuse of an assault against the bastions of western democracy.
well if you read the thread you would have found that other people also heard the same reports , I was listening to radio scotland, sky news, and the bbc and thats what I heard had happened . if you hear a first hand a account on a radio programme unless they have some sort of repeat thing its quite hard to link to it .
and I would like to point out that the important thing in this attack isnt the poor method used its the passion that went behind it . if you have people prepared to cover themselves in petrol set themselves on fire and fight you while the skin is hanging off them you can see some real passion . methods can easy be improved the hard thing to get is that passion , over time that sort of passion alone can and has changed societys if you dont meet it with simular passion
Again agreed dapablo... and at the end of the day if I'm blown up, well, then I'm blown up really. Not much I can do about it and taking away the rights of others just because I might one day be blown up seems just a little selfish to me especially when the probability is so small. There's no need to feel scared by this. Until I see real reason to be worried then I couldn't give a fuck. *Warning, part you may disagree with coming... beware* If there's a few dead on this side it doesn't matter. Sad, callous, ok but essentially this is very small. A few dead civilians is (sadly) justified on the part of this invisible enemy. Even what happened on '7/7' (more bs- abbreiviating it to be reminiscent of '9/11', like some huge historical event) was expected and tiny yet we still make such a huge fuss over it. Ok, it's not nice for individuals caught up in the mess but we don't look at 'them' as individuals, just numbers. Why should their thinking be any different?
The IRA could at least claim to be freedom fighters, this latest lot of terrorists (sic) I wouldn't trust to light barbeque. There is a strange psychology going on though, why do all these people suddenly believe in a god, I mean didn't he die in the sixties, they're all educated folk, what gives ?
well they are different people these are not the ira and islam really hasnt been dented by atheism yet . its actually a much harder subject to attack because of the violence of the followers towards people who put a case its fake . I mean you cant really have a discussion on whether allah is a made up and mohammed a liar if saying either of these things or even hinting them gets you killed . god only died in a small part of the world
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BcnF6qFfPg&NR=1 you can find lots of films like this on youtube, I think you need to have grown up in a fundi religious background to really understand it . I think I can
That kind of passion is hard to find. That's why we see so few terror attacks of this nature in this country. We just don't have a culture of radicalised islamists who are prepared to do this kind of thing here like there is in post-2003 Iraq. If we had lots of people with this kind of passion who will stop at nothing we would be seeing these kinds of attempts all the time. They have nothing to lose, a suicide attack is really easy to get away with. But what do we actually see? A bungled attack every couple of years, people trying to buy peroxide or fertiliser from their local chemist, perhaps they get lucky and kill a few tens of people once in a while. While terrible for those unlucky enough to get caught up in it, it's just not a credible threat and not something that should concern us half as much as road safety or passive smoking. Talking about it and doing it are very different things, and what is clear is that for all the hot air you might encounter, we just don't have any significant number of people prepared to carry out it out and those that do lack the organisation and capabilities to hit home in any meaningful way.
I heard that there was another car. The bomb didn't work and the car got towed by the council because it was infront of a nightclub! Thats so British!
I'm glad that the terrorist that set himself alight was put out. I'm glad that he's in agony and that he'll have regrets of what he did. His plans had failed and as a result of that he's in agony with 90% burn to his body. Absolutely brilliant. I hope he's mutilated. All the respect to the guy that punched him in the face as the terrorist attacked the police shouting "Allah, Allah, Allah." He's being treated as a hero and the media has urged everyone to buy him a pint if they come across him. BURN IN HELL TERRORISTS. My message to terrorists are; "Terrorists are COWARDS, they daren't fight British troops, they choose to cowardly kill unsuspecting men, women, children and little babies. Men they call themselves? If they aren't committing suicide they plant the explosives and just run and then go into hiding. MEN? PFFFFT. The IRA have done this to us for many many years, we've received much worse from the Germans and not ONCE has it destroyed our spirit. Not ONCE has it knocked us down. Just look at 7/7 for example, 50-odd people dead after terrorist attacks in London. Everyone was at work the next day using the tubes, buses etc as if nothing happened. It UNITES us. What makes these few madmen think that they will destroy us? What makes them think they will beat us? As much as they try they will NOT beat us, I promise you. We're British The Germans and the IRA have learned that and these madmen will too. Any attack on Britons will just unite the people, not the opposite as they aim to do. Every attack on Britain will show you exactly that."
Crikey, England. You must read some pretty crazy books man. That or smoke crack. So much of what you wrote is nonsense but let's not get into that now... You used the word repeatedly in your post but what is your definition of a terrorist???
Er.. what the terrorists are doing is all wrong but we did kinda go in their country and take control of it.. (although bush says it's peace keeping.. ) But , I think theese are english citizens? So their cause is sort of.. erm.. stupid. But alas.
England, nobody burning and suffering is 'absolutely brilliant'. I know what you're trying to say, and even then you sound like a jingoistic twit. Now what I think these extremists need is a good happy slapping by a group of chavettes, which I am actually more terrified of than being hit by a shit fizzing bomb.
it was reported to have happened in the observer on the sunday mate. Not to say that that makes it true, but it does suggest that there was no "making up" going on. Was there any need for such a bile-filled reply there?
The cause of terrorism has NOTHING to do with Iraq. The real reason for terrorism is that the terrorists aim to create an Islamic state. They want to take over the world. People that blame the government for terrorism is only spreading the propaganda for them. This is coming from an EX Al-Qaeda member; http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/topstories/20...89520-19390450/ It is absolutely brilliant. I know the majority of people here are liberals but I'm not. I want justice. I want these terrorists to REGRET. The pain he is going through no doubt makes him regret what he's done. He should be punished for what he's done. Prison isn't hard enough for him. Free food, free accommodation, tv etc. A member of the public was shouting "let him burn" as an off-duty cop was putting him out. So, I'm not the only one that thinks like this. Next step, amputate his legs and arms
