Gold brown, not bleak yellow. A bit crunchy on the outside, not sloppy. That's how a proper chip looks like!
No, no, no. We have a good mix of crispy pieces and nice soft, squishy ones. Real handmade British chips.. I'll defend them to the end!
Hello, I would bet my money on Tipsy, sorry Asmodean . What do you think about poutine? Usually I like to drown my chips in curry sauce and I like stuff with cheese on it. Poutine seems to give me the best of both worlds . Regards Gyro
We just call them chips and gravy.. With to without cheese. I hate gravy though. Curry sauce is nice with them. But, it depends on the type of chip.. The chip shop ones can't have all that on them.
Gravy goes on cooked potatoes here. I would not try them on fried potatoes voluntarily. Melted cheese can be tasty but will definately not become a habit for me (it kind of masks the tastes of the other stuff). We do have a sauce called special sauce which consists of curry, mayo and pieces of onion, not a big fan. I prefer the combi of mayo and saté sauce with my chippies. It's curiously called patat oorlog (war) here
I really have the sincere suspicion they taste and feel rather similar. We of course also have some sloppy pieces in most orders, and they can be consumed with taste but I would not have my whole order of fries consist of it, like you get in the mc donalds.
I think you'll find dolphins are mammals rather than fish :mickey: /pedantry :leaving: 2 days back at work, still a little bit in holiday mode but that's fading. at least I've got a 3 day weekend coming up :2thumbsup:
Who wants their chips to snap?! This thread is making me hungry again. Might ask for some chips to be picked up later.
I have lectures tomorrow and then training for the rest of the week. So, not technically work - which is nice.
Well, I'm not busy snapping all my chips but I'm just saying, if they don't snap in 2 when you bend them double they are not the greatest chips.
Hello, same here. And, since I'm in the south of the country, you can get Spaetzle, some kind of pasta, with gravy. I think I would even eat a deep-fried Mars bar if there is enough cheese on it . Hm, curry, mayo and onions sound... interesting. I guess one has to taste it to form a final opinion . Regards Gyro
Yes, since I swear by the dutch meat snacks as well (probably because I'm used to them and the big range of diversity) and our frites and kinds of sauces (simple but effective) I can really advise you to look up a dutch kind of chippie in your area or go over the border sometimes to indulge at a dutch snackbar  Extra tip: go to the coffeeshop first to grow some appetite :drool5:
Hello, I once had chips in a staff restaurant that snapped. In fact you could ram your fork into the chips and they shattered into dozens of pieces. That must have been chips after your taste . Regards Gyro
