Then they would have no issue with stating that as fact and their opinion. There are some who still teach that the world is flat. This is not a new phenomenon as it is exactly how radicals find those who support their views and causes. Fact is based upon how we interpret data and if we accept how others represent that data. Two people can analyze the same data and draw different conclusions.
If I hear another dirty guitar-playing hippie say "that's just like, your OPINION maaaaaaaan" I'm going to punch a goat.
life is way easier to deal with when you understand that 50% of people are complete morons in my opinion
What English word would you use for things that are not subject to changing opinions? I call them facts. I don't want to throw away the common definition of the word just because people are often in error.
It's confusing (lol) I mean there are 'indisputable facts', implying some facts are disputable :dizzy2:, there are known facts, the phrase usually meant to indicate consensus..:scholar: there are unknown facts, (pretty sure all facts were at one time unknown.) finally there are the who-cares-to-know-it facts...I know a lot of those. (don't know exactly where I was going with this...lol) but yeah, its annoying. only one word is necessary to describe known truth... that word is "Fact"
That's a good example. If there's no such thing as "facts", then that also means there is no right and wrong. Or in other words, everybody is right, just because they believe they are. If something can be proven beyond any doubt, then it is a fact. It doesn't matter if someone has an opinion decrying or refuting that, they are still wrong regardless. You can argue that 2+2 doesn't equal 4, that the earth isn't flat, that humans can survive without food and water, but you'd still be totally wrong regardless. Just because someone believes something to be right, doesn't mean that it is.
