When I was 13, I was PRE-pubescent. I was not developed, and not yet menstruating.Despite my 'maturity' at that age, when it came to the ways of the world, sexuality, and such- I was still very much a child.

People develop emotionally, mentally and physically at different ages. It seems nowadays, that children/teens are developing physically earlier. I have known this to be true in a few people- but just because a young girl may look like a woman doesn't make her emotionally/sexually/mentally one. The majority (not everyone, but the majority) of 13 yr. olds I have known are not emotionally/mentally, or even physically prepared for sex. Much less sex with adults...

your brain doesnt fully develop until your twenties. just throwin that out there. age of consent should be as high as feasible.

There's no point setting the age of consent to 20+. Most people will have already had sex by then, and it would completely defeat the purpose of protecting children perceived to be incapable of having healthy sexual relations.
Frankly even 18 is a bit dubious, seeing as your typical teen will have had sex by then, and all it does is sow doubt into the law's purpose.

You don't need a "fully developed" brain to have sex, it's not difficult, by definition you need to have passed puberty. By the mid twenties you've probably already passed the point of peak sexual activity anyway (for males at least).

You're welcome, it's always refreshing to see someone who actually understands this matter without being influenced by the societal standards. In my opinion at least, AoC in its current format is a totally flawed and useless system. People argue about whether or not someone is old enough, someone's too young, all based on one set rule. But in reality each person matures at a different rate and grows up to hold different views.

And also in reality, it's really pointless to argue about it since different countries have different AoC laws, anyway. It's like, what's illegal to you isn't so elsewhere and, conversely, what's morally right to you isn't necessarily something that is appreciated elsewhere. So this really isn't the question of right and wrong if you just base everything on age AS NUMBERS. You can't just look at Spain and go "the Spanish are pedophiles" just for having the AoC of 13.

EXACTLY! And I've also brought up the Lower AoC/Lower sex crime rates correlation aspect before myself. It is my opinion that there is higher likelihood that children grow up to nurture healthier views/attitudes toward sex when AoC is low, and sex regarded as a natural, positive thing in life. Conversely, in my opinion, higher AoC may promote shame/guilt type emotions in youth because of the conservative, puritanical approach to sexuality, thus the negative and unnecessary tension becomes higher, potentially resulting in some people committing crimes.

Yeapp sex with a 13 year old when your like 18 is fucked up! I was 13 like 3 years ago so i remember how naive i was and i how i believed every guy i liked was true love and im not saying ever 13 year old girl is that way but i know alot of my friends at the time were the same way. So for a 18 year old to try and gett it in with a 13 year is just wrong. Emotionally a 13 year old is just not ready for that i know many people older then 13 who arent ready to give that much of themselves away. Also the whole point that i know many 17 year olds who dont know how to properly put a condom on someone so expecting a 13 year old to know how to and to protect themselves from the risk there are from haveing sex is just crazy. Theres just so many things wrong with a 13 year old having sex with someone whos 17.
