my city is celebrating talk like a pirate day with a festival, and a cardboard boat regatta. im not an engineer, and i dont think i could do a good enough job in such a limited time frame (and money frame) but maybe for next year. oh, it could be so awesome.

 

I remember the staff at a club I worked at introduced those sorts of days. International talk like a pirate day, donut days and blah blah. Always shook my head at idea. Especially the pirate one. Personally I think they should make something a little more beneficial for a city like pick up a piece of paper day or, empty a bin that's full day.

Being a Pirate is fun but being a Viking would be more fun.

 

Well, I'm a Viking most days of the week. hehe.

But yes soon the Viking craze will be upon us, much like pirates who made their recovery after the Carribean movies. Nobody cared about them until Jack Sparrow.

Like nobody cared about comic book characters until the movies.

As nobody cared about Thor until the movie. Now every one names their kids Thor and their pets the names of the Norse. It actually bothers me that my ancient cultural beliefs are so commercialized.

There'll be a Viking movie soon, and everyone will want to be one.

Noooo I haven't actually. Everyone says I should watch it, but honestly everybody and then some said Game of Thrones would be right for me too and I watched 6 or so episodes of that and hated every minute of it. Talk talk talk talk talk. No action. And I really don't see the attractiveness in many of the women either which is what a lot of people seem to watch it for. :unsure:

But from the pictures I have seen of the Vikings series it definitely looks a lot better plus they use some folk music I already listen to hehe.
