I dug up this old post, because I wanted more people to take a look at it, plus I wanted to comment on the 'Warren Jeffs'. If you haven't heard, Warren Jeffs is a child molesting polygamist, has PO'ed too many people. It has been reported that he has over 50 wives. He charmed his way into many lives. How did he do that? He caused people to think that he was specially sent by God. It is not anything new, after all the founders of the Mormans believed polygamy was OK. The Muslims have permission written a vague passege in their Koran as well, it goes something like, 'Take one wife or two or three or more, but only if you can love and care for them equally'. Some would say that this means, that a man can only have one wife, since it is impossible to love and care for each of them equally, but ohhh nooo, that isn't what most of them believe. There is not a trace humility in the act, it just some self centered ego maniacs who use religion to get things that they what, and look like heros when they do it. The common person must become more active in seeking spiritual truths for themselves and not let others dictate to them. This would go a long way toward preventing these evil sects from forming and spreading.
You say you love them equally, but do they or would they think so? Stability for children is very precious. This can best be accomplished with monogamous, heterosexual parents who realize that there is a higher purpose for their being than to just have the best sex. Raising children with moral character takes showing by example. There will likely always be situations now and then, that do not fit the conservative social mold. To throw away that mold though, as social liberals would like to do, is asking for MORE problems. In populations of people who do not artificially pick the sex of their babies, boys nearly equal the number of girls consistently. So, from yet another standpoint monogamous relationships make the most sense. It is not hard to imagine the frustration of Muslim or traditional Mormon men, when many of their men have ten wives. It almost makes flying a plane into a building for those 72 virgins tempting. People like to throw around the word homophobic if you say anything negative about homosexual activity. The way I feel about homosexuals is no more phobic than the way I feel about the divorced, the lier, or the thief. Popular culture has helped turn sex into a type of sport, and if people can't take part in the usual way they go astray. Also, if people's soul motivation for having sex is just to have sex, this is a big turn off for people who long for MORE out of a relationship. But they are so turned off by the opposite sex because of this shallow behavior, they turn to the same sex. Many men are creating lesbians and they don't realize it. Think about it! The root purpose for sex is for procreation, nothing more. What purpose do the parents have left when they have procreated? Nuture their child and or children in the best manner so that the child will grow up to do the same. What we have increasingly had in this society is more trouble makers and criminals. Like I have stated before, I am sure that there are true honest to God homosexuals out there and I say let them be, but granting them the status of marriage is over the line! The common line of bull is that there is such a social stigma about being homosexual that those who come out of the closet MUST be truly homosexual. For every such case there are a hundred lawyers ready to ponce on the case, and it has been that way for at least a couple decades, especially in certain parts of the country. Some people have just gotten tired of fighting it, because they have not thought over the deeper implications.
Some like mindedness isn't so bad. Like minded people are less likely to launch nuclear missiles at each other. Besides that, I am talking about steadfast rules that hold a society together, and not have it decay into a wilderness. Have you read my site?
I do not know how thoroughly you have read through my site, but I am not trying to propagate fear in people of Jesus coming back. In that is the case you are reading somthing into my website that isn't there. It is in your own head. I am trying to propagate free thinking, and above all realistic free thinking. To think that not following the Golden Rule means punishment from God, is wrong. Not following the Golden Rule means we are punishing ourselves. We are threatening our own survival by not trying our best to live by the Ten Commandments and the Golden Rule. As for 666 or 616 or whatever it is, it makes no difference to me. There have been so many interpretations of so many ideas in 2000 years time, one must decide for themselves what is the truth, and not let themselves be lead by someone like a 'Warren Jeffs'. The 666 theory I offer at my site makes the most sense for me. This is what I have tried to do with all controversial topics, is to look at multiple ideas and decide for myself. The result is my website, and all the posts that I have made at various forums. The mass of ideas and opinions on what happened 2000 or more years ago, is a mute point and wast of time. People must search from within themselves for truth, but in a careful and measured way. Writings from long ago are full of wisdom, but really no more wisdom than we ourselves, already have.
People have been preaching end times for thousands of years. This is so. What that means is up to Humanity to decide. It can be a world destroyed by nuclear weapons or it can be a world where Humanity can live in peace. In the Ten Commandments and the Golden Rule, God has given us the tools to fix the world for ourselves. Are we smart enough to use them? Sorry, you can't understand that.
But I am sorry for you, I can't help it. I have heard about the 616 instead of the 666 thing several months ago. For long, long time though the number to watch out for had been 666. There is a real and living God and(or) a spiritual realm looking out for us and giving us clues on THE WAY, which I have sought to prove with my website. A living God would know the arcane lore(see image #13 at my site where it talks about rarified arcane lore) of our time, and try to guide us in the right direction from there. This is what I believe God has done with the issue of the 666 question. Money that was to be charged at Woodstock, $6 per day for three days, an act that obscured a more true to the heart meaning of the event. It turned out so many people came, that they gave trying to collect money from everyone, so they made it free. At least that is a little poetic justice.
There will be those who cry, complain and get fed up. Then they whine and complain about the answer. If the answer to life was to have everything then nothing will make us happy. Realizing the value of things not material is the answer. This is why Thanksgiving and the nonconformists Plymouth Pilgrims(also historically known as the society of friends) are part of the Woodstock and Dead Sea Scroll Connections.
It has been a while, the internet is a big place. I believe this subject matter is important for people to review. Some people like to run long, but they don't really say anything. They are already sure about everything. There isn't much thought put into the things they say. Some people are so far from knowing God and so far from the spiritual side of life that it is like a miracle, when or if they finally see the light. They call the efforts to promote true good, honestly and love in the world a diaper full, and they post rude and falsified images of public figures. Don't people like this get you down! Have faith!
I didnt really read what you preach. I just see you feel the need to preach. One that preach defines good and wrong. Watch out, maybe you are criticizing yourself here. Cuz, actually, you seem pretty sure too. Love others, those you think are wrong, instead of being sorry for them. Peace
We come to God through Christ's righteousness, not through self-righteousness. It sounds corny, but before judging others or commenting hastily it never hurts to ask 'what would Jesus do?' - preferably directly from Him.
How can you give an honest comment about something, when you already admit that you haven't read what I wrote???? It is mind boggling!
Doing what Jesus would do....well I highlight a saying attributed to Jesus in a Gnostic Gospel. I also include the Lord's prayer in my commentary. Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. This is the heart of my argument! FedupAmerican, is just blowing off at the fingers. I wouldn't take his word for much at all. Read my site for yourself people! Later!
It sure will. It is in the writings, 'some people will get it and some will not.' Discernment it is called in the Damascus Document.
