'Cooler but dry' my arse. Try three days of glorious, butt-roasting, virtually unbroken, earth-scorching, sizzling sun drenchiness.
It rained when I got there on the thursday, and just as we left this morning It was roasting on sunday!
Had to spend most of sunday in the Big Top, too hot for the middle of a field. Fun at the Main Stage ?
The bands this year were very well picked, actually felt like making an effort to go see them, even tho it was so darn hot! only few things i could have changed these were: 1. The lack of cheap food... (i wish i had bought more food with me) 2. Toilets, yes i know that people go on about festival toilets and its all part of the experience but seriously... when you pump out the waste.. wipe inside properly and put new toilet paper in! 3. Beer... why why why did i spend so much on it? (ok my own fault) The people were amazing tho... met a friend of the levellers (had a vip pass) on the way back home, he was saying how he's knew the lev's when they first started and that the festival has gotten more commercialised and has started to turn into all the other festivals like glastonbury. Does anyone agree? i guess he was right tho in that the security there were a bunch of gorillas and that in the "olden days" people just watched themselves. But in the age of the booze and drug binging (ok i know it happened before) to extremes, oh and not to mention health and safety laws i guess its understandable that you just can't "create" a festival its a procedure that follows any other public event. sad really. With rules and guidelines u get no indivduality
I think Gill mentioned something about the security when her and Dok were talking about the same topic. If I remember correctly, she said that security was a requirement since not having security would limit the chances of the licence for the festival in 2006 being granted. I may be wrong, can't remember exactly what she said, but it was something like that
even peaceful festivals have people who get violent and need to be ejected from the grounds. most of the site is watched by stewards and their job is to help people and watch that nothing dangerous is happening . if you have someone and they are acting in a dangerous manner and spoiling things for other people and they wont take the friendly advice you call security and the police if its that dangerous . and they can kick them off the site or arrest them if they have broken some law . I know that we had to eject people off the site nobody wants to do that sort of thing but what else can you do .
im gonna go next yr though if im about, even though it was over priced it was still a wicked festy and i wouldnt mind paying 80 quid, i got free tickets this yr though fuck the levellers, they wernt even good, and put themselves to headline even though there was much better music then theres and paid emselfs 20 grand for playing ontop of the cash they made from the festival. fuckin sell outs.
i dunno jonny, i seen the sercurity proper raggin this peacful lookin guy about and twisting his arms behind his back and draggin him off to a police van untill some nice girl came over and give him a wrist band. then they let him go.
Well I thought it was all fine and well done.. compared to glastonbury and reading.. this festival is a breeze.. As for security I am bloody well glad they were there.. as me and Jim had some very unfriendly people to deal with on the last night when we were stewarding and if we didn't get help from the security I'd be on my way to a nervous breakdown!
fair enough, but they shouldnt deal with people with no wrist bands the same way they deal with some nasty people
