i dont think the bible mentions any dinosaurs. the span that separates dinos and humans are much more than seven days.

oh but wait, i forgot, one day could be like a million years right? why not just mention a long period of time. why would the bible describe a million years by "and there was evening and there was morning, one day."?

also, the time line is just screwed up. it really sounds like it was MADE UP BY PEOPLE WHO HAD NO PRIOR UNDERSTANDING OF THE COSMOS. yes, like we have seen in EVERY ancient culture, they were trying to explain the world around them. all cultures did it, some say it was on a turtles back some say it was one god some say it was many gods. are we to believe that all ancient cultures were wrong, but this one, just this one got it right?? the answer is obvious, they were just trying to explain the world around them with very limited knowledge. we can see this by the fact that in the story god created light the first day and the sun and moon on the fourth day.

Why? The thread title was clear. Sensitive christians had no reason to read it. Hardly anybody made posts in it disagreeing with me, and I got no negative PM. I've been assuming all this time that most online fans of the bible ignored it.

Reality check: Most non-christians don't have a high opinion of the bible. Otherwise, we would be christians.

I believe you mean Leviathan. Leviathan would probably have described Kronosaurus which was not a "true" dinosaur but a massive reptile-like sea creature, sorta resembling a lizard but much larger. . "Nothing on earth is his equal--a creature without fear" (Job 41:33, NIV) decribes the size of it. Also, Isaiah 27:1 sescribes Leviathan as a serpent which an alligator is not.

Your right, it's probably just a sea monster a bronze age Palestinian man dreamed up that would sound interesting in his book.

I want negative Karma every time I post that I think God is bullshit, the bible is bullshit, and religion is bullshit from everyone that disagrees with me.

Dinosaurs are not in the bible.

The condemnation of homosexuals, inferiority of women, and support of slavery all there.

My religious book says that I must sacrifice everyone that believes in the giant sea monster in his name.

"to the ends of the earth" doesn't seem very literal to me.

Very low estimates place the number species on the earth at just over a million, with many scientists claiming that it is actually closer to four million. The bible does not mention a million species, let alone four million, therefor the majority of animals that exist and have existed are not mentioned in the bible. Also the so called "kinds" of animals mentioned in the bible have no biological basis and do not refer to anything in the real world.

The bible does not mention dinosaurs because, except for birds, all of the dinosaurs were gone millions of years before humans evolved and even if the bronze age people who wrote the bible found dinosaur bones they would not have had the tools or knowledge to properly classify such a find.

The only thing more pathetic than believing in the bible based on faith is claiming to believe in the bible based on science.

Not since Chuck Norris punched it and made it curl up into a ball. Incidentally that same punch also killed all of the dinosaurs. I'm pretty sure that's in Leviticus.

the bible is a notebook of different stories that are supposed to guide you and teach you on how to live a life which can make you live as a 'decent' person (according to the christian beliefs)

it's not ment to be 100% facts it's just a guide from god to the people.

and the commandments were also a guid that to live a decent life you must try you best to follow

Mohawky7 I disagree entirely. I am willing to bet that the people who wrote the bible took it to be literal truth. There is no indication in the bible itself that its contents are not to be taken literally.

There was a time when everyone thought the earth was flat - proof that the majority can be wrong about important things.

Absolutely. They were superstitious, uneducated people.
