part of the shift in consciousness includes - Everybody needs to stop saying "everybody needs to...". its fucking impossible to get everybody to do something no matter how awesome the world is
Would you prefer the phrasing ''Most people need to'' then? Or do you object to people having opinions about how others behave entirely?
I agree with many of the ideas expressed here. To have a united world population that is easily governable, all of humanity has to evolve, to go through a change in consciousness to realize that we are all here together, that we all impact one another. The problem is, this will never happen if we have to rely on every single individual voluntarily making the effort to expand or change their consciousness. Many people (especially in developed nations) are too comfortable with life as it is. They would rather sit on the couch watching reality TV and shoving fast food into their faces than delve into any type of deep thought. Humanity needs to be motivated to change. Some of us see the current condition of the world and the predictions about its near future as plenty of motivation to at least attempt a change. Most people, however, need something more immediately threatening to convince them to take any action. What I'm wondering is: what is it going to take to convince humanity to change our ways? Is it going to be the actions of some forward-thinking group of people? Is it going to be some kind of natural disaster that affects the entire globe? Is it going to be the final collapse of the world's financial systems and governments? Whatever it is, I hope it comes soon. We need it. And I would love to be around to see it. Is that selfish of me? Maybe I should work on changing my consciousness. Let me sign off now and get started...
I guess that depends on what you mean by governable: Governments govern people all over the planet so in that sense, yes. World government bringing world peace, probably no. The fly in the ointment is the corruptible nature of the individual human with power; so the answer to your question depends on the quality of the governers.
I'd like to think its already happening, and I'm sure in some circles it is....but part of me realises thats just wishful thinking.
I think we should all just give up and start again...I'm an incurable dreamer I'm afraid...It's not my war...I'm potentially at peace with everyone...I really don't see what the problem is...Peace and love on earth is what I want...But then I all ready told you I'm an incurable dreamer...Attack me if you want...This pacifist has muscle...
An interesting concept. Could you tell us how this 'muscle' works? I'm reminded of the pacifist principles of the Jehova's Witnesses but I doubt yours are anything like that.
the Buddha said, 'In all things, there is neither male nor female.'" Furthermore, reverend Sariputra, all the splendors of the abodes of the gods and all the splendors of the fields of the Buddhas shine forth in this house. That is the eighth strange and wonderful thing. Reverend Sariputra, these eight strange and wonderful things are seen in this house. Who then, seeing such inconceivable things, would believe the teaching of the disciples? Sariputra: Goddess, what prevents you from transforming yourself out of your female state? Goddess: Although I have sought my "female state" for these twelve years, I have not yet found it. Reverend Sariputra, if a magician were to incarnate a woman by magic, would you ask her, "What prevents you from transforming yourself out of your female state?" Sariputra: No! Such a woman would not really exist, so what would there be to transform? Goddess: Just so, reverend Sariputra, all things do not really exist. Now, would you think, "What prevents one whose nature is that of a magical incarnation from transforming herself out of her female state?" Thereupon, the goddess employed her magical power to cause the elder Sariputra to appear in her form and to cause herself to appear in his form. Then the goddess, transformed into Sariputra, said to Sariputra, transformed into a goddess, "Reverend Sariputra, what prevents you from transforming yourself out of your female state?" And Sariputra, transformed into the goddess, replied, "I no longer appear in the form of a male! My body has changed into the body of a woman! I do not know what to transform!" The goddess continued, "If the elder could again change out of the female state, then all women could also change out of their female states. All women appear in the form of women in just the same way as the elder appears in the form of a woman. While they are not women in reality, they appear in the form of women. With this in mind, the Buddha said, 'In all things, there is neither male nor female.'" http://www2.kenyon.edu/Depts/Religion/Fac/Adler/Reln260/Vimalakirti.htm
All very well for you to 'not see what the problem is' when you're a rich westerner living in relative safety and freedom. Dream on
To the OP, yes with enough guns Unpopular answer but governments have been around before written language and you need governments to uphold rules/laws, back currency, amass armies. People (on the large scale) put their faith into governments and as long as they keep doing so the world will be governable. Lets not forget government along with our species are evolving, they'll get better over time and I think history shows that.
Yes, that would be an improvement but you'd have to pray another Margaret Thatcher of Golda Meir didn't raise her ugly head above the trenches.
We have evolved but sadly at the expense of other species, many of which are no longer with us thanks to our supposed success. As to our further evolution being for the better I have my doubts. Luckily I won't be around to find out.
