Parts are cheap generally at least. There are some susp components on that car that will eat you alive parts + labor. Hondas and Toyotas hold their book value though
I don't know...... just seems a bit expensive. Especially because it's at the age where the value, for a car like a civic that will, in most cases, never be a classic or anything, is going to start dropping off. My taste is heavily skewed towards japanese sports cars, but, I would say that used sports cars, if you shop carefully, can be found in very good shape and for very cheap. Mazda miatas are a great example. Nissan sx and Z series. Early 90s are cheap but often still in good shape, a billion parts and no chance that they'll become unavailable soon (often the same parts as the new thing, almost), modern safety features, but not to the point of airbags and ABS in the way of everything so you just can't work on the thing. But I guess that all goes out the window if you want a civic with nothing sporty about it. But seriously, you can get a nice miata for 1-2k, often the only thing that's wrong with these older japanese cars is cosmetics, bad paint and whatnot.
It'd be great to have a miata as a driving car, but it's not exactly practical, unless you have no friends I guess
To put it into perspective, a friend of mine jus bought a 2004 Infiniti G35 for $4k. When shopping for a used car, the blue book shouldn't be a goal. But hey, the civics are great "a to b" cars. I had a 98 sedan that reached 220k miles before it threw a rod. If you take care of it, it should last you a while.
my wife's chevy lumina is pushing 210k. Not a damn thing wrong with it. (mechanically). I can sit there and roast the tires with the 3.1. no smoke and no noises. I agree, fuck blue book. it's all about how the car has been treated in life.. (and no, roasting the tires is not typical treatment.)
Love The Way The Ad Says "Has It's Issues", And The First Issue I Noticed Was That Pesky Little Rust Bug.... Cheers Glen.
My favorite cars of all time would be the integra type-r, Toyota supra, the skyline, the evo and the impreza. Now isn't the civic japanese I know most of there engines are, b18, etc. Very reliable
The motor is cool.... but paint is laaaame. Thing could look pretty sweet, but looks pretty bad, IMO. Maybe let it rust for 20 years, and it would have something going for that paintjob....
Roor don't know how to have fun, unless it's by himself, partypooper I'll tell you what let me put my t4 turbo and supercharger in it then think again about civics not going vroomvroom
