Ehh, you can squeeze hp out of anything.

Doesn't say anything about how long it will last, or how many gearboxes or rear ends or driveshafts or axles it will shatter ;)

Nothing special, but I just got the keys to this pretty thing and I'm over the moon excited. It's the nicest car I've ever driven, let alone "owned" (well, will own in 10-12 months. lol). It's an '01 Chrysler Neon Expresso. I keep calling it a cappuccino, lol.

hell yeah ! a year seems kinda long to pay for that, but i assume you bought it from a dealer with the loan from the dealer... at maybe 25% interest? the body does look very slick, so maybe it's been taken care of

I bought from my father-in-law. Who only wants $50 a month, on top of the $100 a month I already owe him for the fence they helped us buy this summer. Haha.

    Neons are nice affordable cars.
If it has 60,000 to 100,000 miles on the odometer get a timing belt and water pump.

Looks like it wasn't a bad thing that trans went out on the other car. I like Chrysler products.

My suggestion is that you throw the hubcaps out, pronto. You don't need fancy rims, black steel is fine, but hubcaps are no bueno.

Maybe if they're real caps, that are MEANT to look like hubcaps, instead of looking like fake aluminium alloy, where you can see the steel through them....

    But that's just me.

lol, Pretty sure those are just stock. But I'm slowly making the car mine, so different rims is likely in the cards. I have a list of things I want to do to it. There's a little body damage, but for the most part, it has been very well kept. My in-laws owned it for the past 5 years or so, my father-in-law rebuilt the engine when he bought it, and changed the oil and replaced the radiator before he handed the keys over, so hopefully it will give me a good long run. :)

OK, my photoshop skills suck, but I just couldn't stop myself, lol.

I agree, it needs some rims. Chrome ones with black spokes or centers would be cool.

lmao @ the monster truck. Actually, on top of rims, I'd like to get bigger tires for it if they'd fit.

Well it's got an economy car vibe that might not play nice with big wheels.... classy but modest little ones could look great, though.

Besides, you lose the economy with big wheels.... more tire contact area=more friction=more gas burned.

You could totally fit bigger rims if you wanted, though. With low profile tires you COULD put huge rims on it, I assume.

It would at least not look tryhard if you poped the hubcaps off, though.

In the old days we would jettison the wheel covers and paint the steel wheels black or red. If you got really into it, some of those old wheels had the center hub riveted on, so you could drill out the rivets, and put the hub back onto the inside of the wheel and re-rivet, thus reversing the offset and making a deep dish wheel which would stick out of the fenders a bit. Later on you could buy chromed reversed wheels. (You had to remount the hubs to keep the champher for the lug nuts, otherwise they would eat into the wheel and it would eventually fall off.)

The good thing about that neon is it has a freewheeling engine. So you can wait until that timing belt breaks to replace it, and you won't be doing a head job..

fyi, though, painting stock hubcaps is super ghetto. please don't do it.. I do recommending debadging it.. the side "cappucino", especially.

    I wasen't saying paint them.

The wheels underneath are perfectly good black steel, often with a powdercoat type (not an actual powdercoat, I think, but a hardcore anti-corrosion type) paintjob/coating. They're not super stylin', but they're also not fucking plastic in the half-assed shape of aluminium rims.

The only thing hubcaps are good for is determining car care.... if a car has more than 0 and less than 4, you can think that there might be a reason, and corrosponding rim/suspension damage.
