^^Whoa. How come I've never seen one of these before? They call it a panel van, but it looks more like a shag wagon to me. I bet it comes stock with a mattress in the back.
Cool.... I dunno if it's a panel-van.... or a station-wagon... or a coupe.... and it has something pickup-ish going on with the tailgate. Aussies are so much cooler than us.
They are called 'Panelvans'. Holden is the local GM branch. Top one is from the early to mid '70s (HJ - HZ models). The second is only a concept car based on a 'Commodore'. First model Holden Panelvan was in the 1950s and was aimed at the tradesman market. The Sandman variant was aimed at the youth market and was indeed known as a 'Shaggin' Wagon' and most often did have a mattress. My brother had the Ford version as his first car.
1948 Holden Hotrod. Look closely and you can see the Aussie countryside reflected in the chrome bumper.
Efigy is one off hotrod. Runs supercharged Corvette engine I think. Called Efigy cos it's based on an FJ Holden, like mine in pic. Have got matching chrome wheels now. Spectacles, the windows are much easier to see out of on mine if you want to come for a ride.
Bodyshape was unchanged from 1948 - 1956. My post #286 shows the early front grill used 1948 - 1952 on the FX model. Different grill used 1953 - 1956 on the FJ model. Can't see it here but if you check other pics on the Net you will see they have a 2 piece split front windscreen. That really dates it, looks very vintage.
