Whenever I see a car with plastic trim, I think, that will never be a classic, and/or will never look good in the future, without a very loving owner who fabricates quality metal or other replacement parts. I mean, some kinds of plastic are okay, if it's painted, my car has plastic bumper covers, they all do.... but at least I could replace them if needbe, and fiberglass is available. A million little unpainted (no matter HOW tough the plastic is, it won't look good for ever.... like old honda elements) black bits are just not futureproof. They're trying to build disposable cars. Although I know they do have tough plastic, I think there's a company that makes intake manifolds and valve covers out of it now....
I think i found a new old piece of crap to buy. This one is economical, looks pristine, and unique. http://dayton.craigslist.org/cto/3377588559.html
Good miles and looks nice for the age..... but good god, it's hideous.... Is it a re-badged chevet? I guess some of the lines are more harsh and ugly, some chevets looked good.... As long as it ain't chevet quality.
Chevette was Chevy... This is one of the earlier Chrysler/Mitsubishi deals. After one of their earlier bailouts...
nah, it's a plymouth horizon. it's absolutely hideous, and definately noticeable without big dumb rims or mirror-shaking bass. that's why i like it
..... You should totally put big dumb rims on it, and a mirror-shaking sub. Just make sure they give you the key socket for these particular big dumb rims *edit* actually, I thought the wheels are one of the best looking parts of the car, assuming they don't have rust spots or something that I can't see. It has lots of nice design elements, but then a few problems..... the C pillars dun do it for me, the hood/front end look hacked together, and the federally mandated bumper-car bumpers look like shit. And some angles are poorly chosen. I liked the AMC you posted, although for some reason I doubted it's milage more.
It's just a question of cost...I bet if you shell out a few mill they will But seriously, I agree. My motto with older cars is Classic, not Plastic.
My drunk-ass made a post here last week promising to post a pick of my truck, so here it is: My goal is to someday rip the chrome off (that it came with) and paint it a different color. I also want to get it lifted 4 to 6 inches and put bigger rims and tires on it. Someday..
I Think It Looks Quite Good The Colour It Is, All I Would Do Is Hit Under The Wheel Wells And Around The Towbar With A High Pressure Water Blaster, Then Spray Them Satin Black.... Cheers Glen.
But the color is 'champagne', lol. I want red or something like that. I suppose if it were any other color, all that chrome wouldn't work. I like the satin black idea. :2thumbsup:
I Compare It To A Guy All Dressed Up In A Tux, Bow Tie, And Well Groomed Hair, But Is Wearing Dirty Unpolished Shoes, It Just Spoils The Overall Image.... It's Amazing How Something Like A Rusted Towbar, Or Mud Under The Wheel Wells Can Detract From An Otherwise Immaculate Vehicle.... Cheers Glen.
There's no rust or mud under my truck, although it may be a tad dirty. But now that you mention it, WTF is that in my back wheel well.. Time to get that satin black paint!!
