Had some sort of nasty confrontation with jetta-driving teenagers?

I generally think of that as an art teacher car, or something.

But I'd love a diesel one.

Had to drive several hundred miles in an unfamilliar truck yesterday. Took my whole day up, and then I ended up driving at night - almost ran over a neon or cobalt or similar fake car - was in a confusing freeway junction (for the second time - and the second time I went the wrong way on it. Fucking tiny 35mph ramp in an 80, full of impatient people who knew where they wanted to go, unlike me). I just realized I'd gone the wrong way, and tried to merge back into a lane that would let me turn around (I mean.... in like ten miles), and this little fucker was in my passenger blind spot. He didn't honk or anything, but had to get in the breakdown lane - I floored it and got back in my lane, and he high-tailed it, probably thinking me drunk or just bullying him for fun. I'd thought I had several hundred feet of space.

And it was all in a shitty v6 with an auto. It'd be a fine truck for a fleet in town or something, but is a distinct lemon for freeway driving, or really any other conveniant use. The transmission tuning sucks, it wants to sit at an idle RPM and won't accelerate, unless you really gun it, then it screams, but still doesn't go anywhere. I think another part of the problem is that it's drive-by-wire, so you have the transmisson second guessing you, and the shitty ecu second guessing you, and second guessing each other, and whatnot. I'm quite sure I'd never buy a modern chevy truck, after that driving experience. (or, anything but a real deal on a sports car)

Oh, and the steering sucks - needs more caster, it's like they thought it was a real truck, when it's a shitty little 2wd thing. It won't track, and wants to wind itself up instead of self-straiten. It can hardly haul it's own weight, much less a real load, but it's got super stiff (badly damped) suspension, a million turns to lock, etc.

Fuck GM, no wonder everybody hates them and won't buy them and they need bailouts and all that jazz.

*edit* I guess I just hate you kids, and your new shit. Grumpy and judgemental beyond my years, here.

glitter is the herpes of craft supplies. i only do glitter if its mixed into something already, glitter glue, or glitter paint. if i receive something glittered i have to find a way to seal it.

Hot water heater finally bit the big one.... Tank gave out, water all over the place. Oh well.

Problem number one, the cold water supply valve won't shut off completely, so it keeps trying to refill. I have to shut the house off to make it stop. Fuck all.

It was supposed to be next on the list, after that doorway was done. It just couldn't wait, could it? Fucker.

could you shut it off and cap it , you have a brazing torch ,. sometimes with old valves you can open them fully and bring them back down closed it might catch it. Ive a lot of crappy valves here. last one to leak was outside before I noticed my water bill was 60bucks. so I complained to the water company telling them the construction is throwing dirt in my lines and causing my valves to get stuck open on the toilet. they took it off. since logically we pay for sewage and not water, that water wasnt waste water.

It's all steel pipe... Don't think I have a cap that size...

The whole room needs to be redone and I've got a lot of copper to do it. but not the valves and a bunch of fittings I'll need to do it right. I'm not doing it twice. I was gonna do this when I got a new heater but that ain't happin' tonight.... Or even tomorrow. I might crimp off the flex line and solder it shut.... Needs replaced anyways, so no loss.

Had a big day at softball tournaments today.

My granddaughter injured her hamstring during a game and had to sit the last game out. I hope it isn't too bad.

I'm getting ready for a huge day tomorrow at Atlanta's Pride Parade.

I took my "Nite Nite Pill" a little early tonight. I'm hoping to get a decent amount of sleep before tomorrow.

valves can be expensive, worst part is new valves leak too and no way to find that out til installed .. talk about get pissed off at something.
Im still missing hot water on other side, think I want to take a different route away from the outside wall, even if I bring the lines down along the wall past the light switch side the door frame. I could camo the pipe with fake plant vines.

Gorilla-glue a cork in the pipe.

Just don't stand in the way as you turn the water back on.

2 extra valves here to save us...city made everyone install a one foot dummy pipe with valves each end about a decade ago so they could easily come in and quickly splice in a water meter

old first entry valve would be scary to try ....one at the street is not my problem if it breaks because its just an inch or 2 outside the property line making it city problem

Well, it was nice having water in the kitchen and the second bathroom... Seems like I'm going backwards. I used to have hot and cold in my bathroom... but only my bathroom. Now only cold and nothing to the rest of the house.

I think it was only 6 months ago I finally got that other side working and had hot and cold in the kitchen. Made it feel like a REAL house. Now I got nuthin.

Gonna be out of water for awhile... Back to the stone age.

once they shut it off the curb , I still was getting water, so I had to dry ice that bitch to install main shut off. pain in the ass.
I like plumbing tho. its kinda fun if its not an emergency. maybe i should fix my water before the next freeze.
got a call about a leaking fridge from a friend. I charge them 80 to fix it. speaking of gorrilla glue. those nuts cracked the pan under mopping , so I glued. leveled their whacky mice dropping filled fridge :puke: and went on my way....
