And there never can be, aside from what political beliefs you have, you gotta admit human nature would never allow it to happen.

 

This is just a play on words to say "OK, we've had communists try to build communist societies. But since communism is defined as utopia and all these attempts resulted in collassal fuck ups, communists conclude "oops, we got it wrong - please let us try again to build communism with your country", and are forever mystified that nobody wants to take them up on it. Either that or they sit there dreamy eyed and say "society isn't ready for communism. but utopia will come one day and i will be proved right."

Yeah you might have some trouble in this country, but you go to a nation where Freedom of Speech is restricted, Church attendance restricted, fear of having your churches and historcial landmarks stripped to fund their arms race with America, the Media restricted, Freedom to speak out against the government unavailable, corrupt law enforcement officials and politicans that deal drugs, prostitution, and gamble with people's life savings and their lives, and the hamper on economic prosperity that plagued the Soviet bloc nations for decades.

The people I know from communist countries know it "happened". Even though what occured was not the intent of Karl Marx in his "Communist Manifesto." It is sad because there were so many good ideas expressed therein that have been forever tainted by the authoritarian regimes that asserted violently their wrong-headed spin on his work.

But then one must remember, that the countries at the very top of the Human Developement index also offer free education and healthcare and are often derided as "Welfare States" and are innacurately refered to as "communist" when they are in fact, capitalist.

It is NOT just the "fat cats" in Western nations that have high standards of living. Even a lower-middle class American lives like a king compared to the average Romanian. Health care, education? Compare Vietnamese health care with American health care and then tell me you'd prefer communism.
