i pulled weeds and amended the plants today. have some areas that i need to decide a fall crop for. if i box it in a bit, maybe carrots and beets. dunno yet. mainly theres about 9 feet of a row of melons that got eaten by rabbits (have about 3 vines in that row that survived and have flowers, so heres hoping) plus i have a few other areas that could grow something.

i have a few zucchinis, in various stages of "dont pick me yet" (soon, sooon!)
several spaghetti squashes, only one near ripe, the rest i probably have a week on. i think.
a few gnarled, stunted cucumbers (but there are new flowers, so maybe next round will do better)
i have the handful of melon vines that are hanging in there, and have flowers
i have tomatoes, not ripe yet. sweet potatoes, unknown success rate. the zucchinis are trying to take over their bed. poor planning on my part. whoops.
and we have some jalapenos and thai hot peppers. i dont touch any of the pepper plants. thats hubby's job. i will water them, and toss some compost their way, but im not mucking about with those things. the anaheim pepper plant is alive, but not thriving, i dont remember seeing any flowers on it either.

i think that for next year i will make it more of a permaculture/ food forest garden. so i will fix the walkways (replacing the weedstop fabric with regular-ass canvas.) edging them a bit better (also adding pavers and surrounding them with woodchips. might spring for store bought ones even.) planting in a couple of fruit trees, peaches and/ or plums most likely, as well as berries. then groundcovers. i figure if i want to plant a something, then i can just cut out some of the groundcover and transplant it elsewhere.

but overall i am pleased at how the garden has worked out, being my first big attempt. the clay soil underneath is cracking BAD wherever the woodchips arent keeping it moist, so that by itself is a big success, though i think i would rather "age" the woodchips in a separate pile, then sift them for fineness. they really do a nice job keeping the moisture in, and keeping the plants alive in general when the rain just skoots around us, it could certainly use more water, but its been too hot until today to get out there except in the dark. the cool is a relief. hell, its only supposed to get up to mid 70's the next 2 days. damn near fall weather.

so, anyways, those who (veggie) garden, what do you plant for the fall crop?

David Huddleston, a noted character actor who was most famously known for the titular role in “The Big Lebowski” died Tuesday at 85. His wife, Sarah Koeppe, told the Los Angeles Times that he died of kidney and lung disease in Santa Fe, N.M.
Huddleston’s character in the 1998 “The Big Lebowski” epitomized the types of characters he was known for — big dons or capos and tempestuous men. Although he is in only a few scenes in the film, he crosses paths with Jeff Bridges’ Lebowski character, aka “The Dude,” after a group of gang members attack “The Dude” mistaking him for Huddleston’s millionaire Lebowski. Though the film was not a hit when it first premiered, it has since become a huge cult sensation with a devoted fan base.

the old neighbor that i used to take care of had cucumbers in her garden...i swear she planted them just to annoy me cutting the grass...she never picked any just let them rot and her soil was perfect those things would grow massive numbers and crawl all over the place always in the way i hated them

oh ya I agree....plus he is 56 and shouldn't be buying a death machine....he was all set to buy a nice outlander and at the last minute bought this.........

I have cucumbers...its hard to keep them in a certain area....I have to keep putting the vines up and through the trellis.....now the weight is making my trellis sag....I have already picked about 8 cucumbers and have about a hundred more growing.....

and my tomatoes are getting crazy....i'm starting to take the boxes from the grocery store so I will have somewhere to put them all....

Right. So. Looking at my bank application, still. It's all approved. I don't think I'll be in a position to have my money deposited but at least it'll give me a leg to walk on at the dealership on the weekend. My finance is approved just waiting for my funds to come in. I don't understand it sometimes. It's my money, why does it take so long to get? Or why do I have to go through pains and efforts, two weeks of negotiating my money. Like the bank is holding for me like it doesn't trust me with my own money. Useless. Anyway I'm excited. :)

I'm sure we can do a contract at the dealership if we know the funds will come through its not like I'd be able to pay the dealership on the weekend anyway, it'll take few days.

Probably just white. I've only had white vehicles and any stickers or magnets I use work well with white. :)
I have appointment at the dealership on Saturday at 9am. :)
