I don't know if any of you have read 1984, but in that book, they outlawed sexual pleasure and erased words from the dictionary yearly. To say that some of the things the government does is wrong is one thing, but to act like we are living in some kind of dystopia is ridiculous. I enjoy the freedoms of criticizing the government, which I do publicly and frequently. I can choose to go anywhere I want to in the country at will. I have the freedom to practice any religion or no religion, I can vote, and I can conduct trade with anyone I choose to. To say that you have a problem with the administration's policies on drugs, counterterrorism, or monetary policy is one thing. To label Obama/Bush as Big Brother is just ignorant and if that's the way you try to appeal to people, the only response you are going to get out of 99% of them is laughter.

Everythings wrong with the Patriot Act. It should be called the anti Privacy Act. Thats what it does it illiminates the privacy we excpect from the 4th amendment. Wasnt it supposed to be temporary? Just needed while we weeded out the terrorists that were living among us after 9/11? Can the FBI still do sneak and peaks?

 

How is the 4th being infringed? Don't say: we can't protest within 3feet of the president. zzzzzz.

 

you know i am torn on this issue. I understand freedom and liberty, it's where prosperity and creativity and ingenuity comes from. BUT i also understand humans are selfish and we have an insatiable appetite for stuff. And we will do anything to get our stuff and get our partners and make babies and as long as we get what we want we are happy. and to me in this global world, humans need to sacrifice more then ever. resources are limited, the planets overcrowded and we sort of just keep on going at the same pace but things will change dramatically in the near future. there is a new world order being formed and it will be successful because the powers that be have the military and the police on their side. the average person is helpless and will accept what they are told as long as they get fed and have a home and a job basically. the western world has been domesticated and we aren't a courageous, righteous people anymore and it's too bad. some of us will have to die for future generations but this is nothing new. and i happen to see the good side to this. let's get rid of the dead weight and face these new challenges head on. no more talking about the old days where we had to fight indians and the british, times have changed. individuality doesn't truly matter as much anymore, there are 7 billion of us now. people come and go. and that's the problem. we need to get a grip on population reproduction now! before it's too late.

It's not 3 feet, and this is exactly the ignorance eating away at this country. The law (HR347) says you can't partake in "disruptive" behavior around the government OR secret service, EVEN if you don't know they're there.

That means you can't protest (at least) 100 feet from Obama, Romney, Rick Santorum or, Michelle Obama. THAT DIRECTLY VIOLATES the first Amendment.

I think "Big Brother" was a perect analogy. They start wars, take away our freedom and, impose their will on the majority. What do they get in return? Worship and praise, and "BIG BROTHER!!! He'll save us!!"

I assume you're being sarcastic due to the fact that they didn't use it at the NATO summit.

The point isn't weather they use it or not, but rather the implications of the law itself. The First Amendment states very clearly; Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The only reason people can still defend Obama is because, to our knowledge, he's yet to "use" any of the tyrannical laws he's passed. But perhaps you wish to TELL the President you disagree with his policies. We now live in an era where you can be given a felony charge or maybe even labeled a "Terrorist" and executed, at the whim of the Federal Government alone for doing so.

Whatever, I'm so over the bullshit. Certain people (RjHangover etc.) will NEVER believe Obama's up to no good until he declares martial law nationwide, then, there will still be some ignorant fucks who say "Oh, it's to keep us safe." So enjoy your alleged "freedom," America!!!
