Ok, I was exaggerating a little. The reasonable comments about this seems to suggest it isn't anything new. It's basically the same thing that has been in place for over 40 years. I've read that it just means you can't wilfully enter restricted areas. What would most Americans do if I entered their home in the middle of the night, and sat and watched their TV? I would imagine most Americans would shoot me dead. http://m.jacksonville.com/news/metr...restrict-protests-and-violate-first-amendment http://www.snopes.com/politics/crime/restricted.asp
sneak & peak= FBI The whole world protested the Iraq invasion. Every city and country all over the world, in droves, protested Bush Jr's war plan. Nothing like it in human history. Only a small precentage of people wanted this war. THose who would profit enormously. I think only one Senator voted against it. Paul Wellstone Dem. Minn. and look what happened to him. The thing is the elected representatives of the people are putting more distance between us and them. They are alienated from the electret. These laws lesson the responsibility they have. Lessons the criticism and direct confrontation that we the people use to have. Now, by law, we are troublemakers and 'disruptive' if we confront them or protest near them.
...don't get you : / UK - For: 412 Against: 149 Majority: 263 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/2862325.stm How? I personally think it is to stop this I don't think it fundamentally alters your right to protest (when was the last time you were allowed to protest in the white house or inside the G8 meetings etc?).
It's the history and beauty of America, that we can protest outside the white house, or during political functions. OWS interrupted an Obama speech with their protest! And who can forget the protestor yelling "War Monger!" at Dick Cheney. What it comes down to, everyone has a limit, at which they realize "I'm not free anymore." For me it was; the execution/detention of citizens without trial,(Ndaa) Legalized war propaganda, (Ndaa) The dreadful attack on free speech (HR347) and, the utter disregard of the 4th Amendment (CISPA, the Patriot Act, Warrentless wiretapping etc.) To other people, unfortunately, it will take more extreme measures for them to lose faith in government. However, it will happen soon, because our government has no legitimacy left.
So you believe HR347 will stop you protesting outside the White House? November: A brief check, and there seems to have been a protest outside the White House against Israeli attacks on Gaza. March: Occupy D.C protest outside the Whitehouse regarding the law they say would crack down on protests - outside the Whitehouse () http://dcist.com/2012/03/outside_white_house_occupy_dc_prote.php And you think HR347 will stop people hurling what ever they like when he is at a public speech etc? Another brief check: 5 Nov 2012 – Playoff protester disrupts Obama rally at UC ... yelling anti-abortion slogans during President Barack Obama's speech at Fifth-Third Arena. I just don't understand how this (HR347) can be misinterpreted.
Maybe hope's left with the Supreme Corp er Court. Praying to the priests in the high Temple to rescue our tattered contistution. Although at times I wonder if the Court has any legitamacy left as it's seen all the time that those with a little or a lot of authority ignore it like a faded yield sign.
(No offense,) But I feel like that's a cop-out. I read the law, and it essentially says that whoever partakes in "disruptive" activities around government events, is guilty of a felony. To our knowledge, the government is yet to use this law for malicious purposes. However, I still don't condone HR347 in the least, because it can be used for VERY malicious purposes. (As can NDAA, CISPA and, the FAA reauthorization act.) Generally, no one supports genocide or indefinite dentention without trial. But I have less faith in the American Government than you do. I just don't see another reason why the Government would pass all these super evil laws, other than super evil and predictable purposes. They serve no other purpose. And the whole idea that it's "been this way for years." is hardly a reason to not oppose it. War propaganda was legal in WWII, and the NDAA just legalized it again.
‘(2) knowingly, and with intent to impede or disrupt the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions, engages in disorderly or disruptive conduct in, or within such proximity to, any restricted building or grounds when, or so that, such conduct, in fact, impedes or disrupts the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions. Shouting till you are horse/holding a protest at the White House gates isn't impeding Government business. You and others do say: 'You can't do this, and you can't do that.' Not: 'You might not be able to do this, and you might not be able to do that'. It is fairer when you say: 'the government is yet to use this law for malicious purposes.' Sec. 1751. Presidential and Presidential staff assassination, kidnapping, and assault; penalties What I mean by that is that if - for e.g - HR347 is essentially the same thing as has been in place for over 40 years - and people have continually - for e.g - protested outside the White House/Heckled - for e.g - the President, and there hasn't been mass arrests for doing so - what makes you think things will change now?
I am amazed that nobody ever holds them to these oaths. If they aren't enforced, they're useless. If I lied in court I'd get charged with perjury -- yet these people take an oath to follow the Constitution and violate it damn near every time and nothing ever happens.
I know. It makes me sick. Lying, perjury, deceit, blackmail, it happens every day by cops, bureaucrats, government officials from the town clerk all the way up to the President. There’s no accountability. No repercussion or fear that anything will happen. Lying must be a valued trait among modern society.
I think the Supreme Court lost its moral authority or legitimacy, when it ruled that law enforcement may lie during an investigation but if a citizen lies, or withholds any facts, they will go to prison. Ask Martha Stewart. Just one citizen of many that has been caught in this Orwellian nightmare. That’s why it’s best to never talk to any authority figure with a badge or a judge without a lawyer. Hell, two lawyers.
