Fauci says he can’t stop Trump from talking at briefings By DARLENE SUPERVILLE March 23, 2020 Fauci says he can't stop Trump from talking at briefings excerpts: "WASHINGTON (AP) — Dr. Anthony Fauci says he can’t jump in front of the microphone to stop President Donald Trump from speaking at daily White House briefings on the coronavirus outbreak." "Trump and Fauci sparred politely but publicly last week over whether a malaria drug would work to treat people with the coronavirus disease. Asked about being present when things are said that he disagrees with, Fauci said: “I don’t disagree in the substance. It is expressed in a way that I would not express it, because it could lead to some misunderstanding about what the facts are about a given subject.” Twitter notices when Fauci isn’t present for the briefings. On Friday, the doctor put a hand over his face when Trump injected a conspiracy theory into the proceeding by referring to the State Department as the “Deep State Department.” Fauci’s brief hand movement and facial expression became an internet meme. Asked if he’d been criticized for it, Fauci said “no comment.”"
And if he's re-elected, he's sure to have other crises to fuck up in similar manner. Will anything remain?
Of course there's a way - just sew his lips together !!! - wouldn't half be quiet inside the White House wouldn't it ???
In the post 9/11 years, some of the TV evangelists were saying that God handpicked Bush to be president to lead everyone through the valley of darkness. One evangelist even said that it was surprising that God would pick someone like Bush to do it. Bush's approval was as high as 88% after 9/11 before it dropped as low as 25% in his second term. It's similar for Trump. Some Americans like the idea of relying on someone like Trump to try to lead them through a crisis. Part of the public is proud that Trump took the time to consult with the dictator of N. Korea about the coronavirus while scorning U.S. governors asking for help. If Trump told people that the coronavirus could be cured by licking the door handles of their churches that prais him, some would comply.
I've been reading that McConnell is very concerned that the republicans will lose control of the senate, and that he very well might lose his own seat.
How? My principal is that government must protect and serve it's people. By giving a check that I don't even get they do that. Things are playing out how I knew they would. Socialism is only bad when brown people get it. If a blue collar conservative white American gets it their perception is they earned it. That their tax and hard work entitles them to something from government. These people adopt my views little by little.
To the tune of "Oh Christmas tree" "We'll change the country bit by bit, so nobody will notice it ......."
Trump's mouth is like a hurricane and he has refused to stop shaking hands. The risk may have been higher for him being in an untested subclinical condition and unwittingly spreading the virus to others instead of the opposite. When Trump told two journalists near the front row at his press briefing that they were too close to him, he was correct in the context that he could spread the virus to them.
As a business person that he claims to be, Trump should realize the plight of states that are competing with each other for limited medical supplies which elevates the prices. Deliberate price gouging is another issue. Trump has fluffed off the concerns and has said that the federal government isn't going to do their jobs for them. Illinois governor: States are "competing against each other" for medical supplies Jacob Knutson March 22, 2020 Illinois governor says states are "competing against each other" for medical supplies
If Trump were just a business man right now he would be involved with this price gouging... You know... Just to make some more cash.
Trump's response since the start of the virus problem has been through the lens of what it does to Wall Street. When Trump was running for office, he railed against Wall Street to try to win over the common person.
Fox News changed Trump's mind overnight from what he was saying in recent days about social distancing.. It's apparent when Trump is watching Fox. He tweets minutes later what someone said. Some of the guests on Fox point right into the camera knowing that they are talking straight to Trump. Trump signals growing skepticism about coronavirus lockdown The president appears eager to end stringent "social distancing" guidelines once the 15-day period ends next week. Harsh Steps Are Needed to Stop the Coronavirus, Experts Say Donald G. McNeil Jr. The New York Times March 23, 2020, 12:02 PM EDT Harsh Steps Are Needed to Stop the Coronavirus, Experts Say
Like they have before, expect more irrational, self-parody statements from some of the Trump adherents, such as: "Trump doing the opposite of his promise is the greatest thing he has done so far. More power to him!"
Article from May 2018. Top White House Official in Charge of Pandemic Response Exits Abruptly Homeland Security Today May 11, 2018 Top White House Official in Charge of Pandemic Response Exits Abruptly – Homeland Security Today excerpt: "The top White House official responsible for leading the U.S. response in the event of a deadly pandemic has left the administration, and the global health security team he oversaw has been disbanded under a reorganization by national security adviser John Bolton. The abrupt departure of Rear Adm. Timothy Ziemer from the National Security Council means no senior administration official is now focused solely on global health security. Ziemer’s departure, along with the breakup of his team, comes at a time when many experts say the country is already underprepared for the increasing risks of a pandemic or bioterrorism attack. Ziemer’s last day was Tuesday, the same day a new Ebola outbreak was declared in Congo. He is not being replaced. Pandemic preparedness and global health security are issues that require government-wide responses, experts say, as well as the leadership of a high-ranking official within the White House who is assigned only this role."
Trump hired Bolton who disbanded the pandemic team and who essentially fired Ziemer before Trump later fired Bolton. Trump essentially replaced the experienced Ziemer with Pence when he finally realized that the coronavirus wasn't a liberal hoax and saw his reelection in jeopardy.. Pence has no expertise in such matters. Trump's musical chairs botched coronavirus response is the result of Trump's musical chairs administration.
Bet these guys could do it.... I think they would have the time... I never hear of them having any real jobs. .
Trump, who's ten steps behind everyone on the virus response and most other events, is trying to undo the damage he has done to his potential voters by his referring to the virus as the China virus. Trump still hasn't learned that his bigotry is damaging whatever support he might have garnered from moderate voters, bigotry he's directing at his hardcore followers whose votes he's not going to lose anyway. "We're staring into the abyss," tweeted Vox's Aaron Rupar, who highlighted many of the bizarre moments from the rally and expressed hope that the clips will give the public "a sense of the stakes of the 2020 election."
