Excerpt of Trump being interviewed by Wallace on July 19, 2020 where he raved about sabotaging the healthcare system related to the Obama administration.

Trump talks as if a Supreme Court decision about DACA has endowed him with the powers of Congress and that people never knew a president had such powers.

Trump said the next couple weeks after the interview he would be making comprehensive changes to immigration and healthcare on his own.

"TRUMP: Pre-existing conditions will always be taken care of by me and Republicans, 100%.

WALLACE: But you've been in officce three and a half years, you don't have a plan.

TRUMP: Well, we haven't had. Excuse me. You heard me yesterday. We're signing a health care plan within two weeks, a full and complete health care plan that the Supreme Court decision on DACA gave me the right
    to do.

So we're going to solve -- we're going to sign an immigration plan, a health care plan and various other plans. And nobody will have done what I'm doing in the next four weeks.

The Supreme Court gave the President of the United States powers that nobody thought the President had, by approving, by doing what they did -- their decision on DACA. And DACA's going to be taken care of also.

But we're getting rid of it because we're going to replace it with something much better. What we got rid of already, which was most of Obamacare, the individual mandate. And that I've already won on. And we won
    also on the Supreme Court.

But the decision by the Supreme Court on DACA allows me to do things on immigration, on health care, on other things that we've never done before. And you're going to find it to be a very exciting two weeks."

With the trump nominated, trump supporting republican ass, Louis Dejoy (who donated to trumps campaign)who is now running the USPS, that's trying to slow down mail in voting by laying people off ,among other republican bullshit, -----a coup is taking place before our very eyes. As I've pointed out--republicans will lie, steal, disrespect , cheat and do ANYTHING to keep power, money and screw over regular citizens/working people by any means necessary. Why, oh why does he have ANY SUPPORTERS at all.? Can they be this negligent in their critical thinking? Are they so low class that they can STILL support this phony , lying sonuvabitch?? That they'll play right into the hands of those like the Russian leaders that would like nothing better than to see this country and its democratic government go down in flames? WTF?

  5. this thread inflames my ego & reminds me why I've completely divulged in nihilism. it is futile. but we all have a role to play. some can choose & others are cast.

    "That motley drama—oh, be sure
    It shall not be forgot!
With its Phantom chased for evermore
By a crowd that seize it not,
Through a circle that ever returneth in
    To the self-same spot,
And much of Madness, and more of Sin,
And Horror the soul of the plot."

  6. as a student of history I've noticed the pattern that whatever few steps we take forward we'll always take several backwards

do I believe in something? of course. but I do what I feel is right because I feel it is right. you all have become caught up in your own ideals without recognizing the ultimate futility of it.

so do what pleases you. choose your role & perform it with sincerity.

but play the spectator as well & don't take it all too seriously

I wish there was a liquor store close by that is opened today

  7. I wonder if Poe felt the same way? The Conqueror Worm is one of the most honest poems to explain what I feel I have not explained clearly enough.

I think we've identified three stalwart categories of Trump supporters: the under-educated (67% of his voters in 2016), cuz they're stupid; the billionaires, cuz they're greedy; and the Evangelicals, cuz they want more biased judges. But there's a fourth component that needs more attention: the psychologically damaged. Why do millennial male misfits flock to Trump? Why do people other than Transylvanian trolls who get paid for it, troll for Trump? Seems to me it's because they see in him either an authoritarian father figure or a bad boy like themselves. Authoritarian personality types, defined by attraction to an autocratic leader, oppression of outgroups, and insecurity about their place in life, are drawn to Trump because they perceive him to be "Daddy" (Milo Yiannopoulos'name for him)

Yet there is a distinct set of personality disorders that finds him appealing for a different reason. They see in him their inner troll at play.
The Atlantic Politics Daily: A Psychologist’s Theory on Trump’s Appeal

I think the following is fundamentally offbase from a values standpoint, but illustrates Trump's appeal to the deplorables.

Donald Trump as High in the Dark Triad
Here’s the real reason Trump supporters are not fazed by his brazen lying and corruption – Alternet.org
    Figuring Out Trump

Psychologists would use the labels oppositional defiant disorder, antisocial personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, and narcissistic personality disorder. Unable to adjust to polite society, the person suffering from the disorder may try to overturn the norms of that society and establish ones more amenable to his/her temperament.
    The Psychology of Donald Trump
This diagnosis is confirmed by a clinical psychologist who knows Trump well, his niece, Mary L. Trump, Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World's Most Dangerous Man

"Some people are supporting Trump simply to be rebellious or to introduce chaos into the political system. They may have such distaste for the establishment and democrats like Hillary Clinton that their support for Trump is a symbolic middle finger directed at Washington. These people may have other issues, like an innate desire to troll others or an obsession with schadenfreude." A Complete Psychological Analysis of Trump's Support

Eulogy starts at 2 minute mark.

Remark by eulogist at Trump funeral as he is presented in front of everyone at 5:05 mark:

:"He died as he lived, wearing makeup and lying in front of all of us."

The comedy skit could have added a zinger at the end of the eulogy by playing a song Trump likes, McCartney's "Live and Let Die."

Europeans Say COVID-19 Revealed America as 'Fragile,' Inconsiderate
    By Benjamin Fearnow
    8/9/20 at 9:18 AM EDT

    https://www.newsweek.com/europeans-say-covid-19-revealed-america-fragile-inconsiderate-1523860

    excerpt:

"Italians, Germans and residents of other European nations that were hit the hardest by the coronavirus outbreak in February said they are disappointed, saddened and even frightened by the United States' COVID-19 response. Public health experts and everyday residents said they "always saw America as a model" for the world, but the pandemic has exposed a country with horrendous infrastructure and no coherent public health system.

Several European doctors agreed with their U.S. counterparts in saying Americans' individualist spirit has backfired and led the country to the top of both infection and death toll lists.

Americans are now at the top of the list of "at risk" travelers to Europe after countries like Italy — which placed themselves in a strict 10-week lockdown — have emerged from the pandemic while Americans continue infighting and rising above 160,000 dead from COVID-19."

Not to me, although I think if Trump wins another term we can kiss our democracy and economy goodbye and prepare for the Dark Ages. If you think that's no big deal, it's a free country, but I don't see a particular connection to the Trump Scorecard. Ideals aren't futile, but they're fragile. Death is our destiny, but that doesn't make our existence absurd. Lay off the booze. It'll rot your liver--and mind!

In some cases, the billionaires, and the Evangelicals are one and the same.
I think they look at him as the kind of person they will never be. It's kind of like the guy who idolizes sports figures, because the sports figure is living in a dream world. Something the idolizer can never do.

The business world is confused by Trump's executive actions.

Democrats assail Trump actions on payroll tax and jobless aid as unworkable, call for further talks
By Tony Romm, Erica Werner and Jeff Stein
    August 9, 2020 at 5:19 p.m. EDT

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/us-policy/2020/08/09/trump-executive-actions-economy-democrats/

    excerpt:

"Trump signed four documents on Saturday that he said would provide economic assistance to millions of Americans. But White House officials on Sunday were hard-pressed to describe precisely how the measures would work. One of the measures aims to provide $300 in new unemployment aid, but it’s unclear when these benefits might start or if states would be able to implement a new system.

Another measure, which aims to defer payroll taxes from September through December, would require participation from millions of employers, something Democrats said probably wouldn’t happen.

Democrats pounced on the confusion and said it showed why the White House should resume negotiations on a broader relief package. Talks had collapsed last week after both sides dug in on what they believed the size of the package should be.

“Unfortunately, the president’s executive orders, described in one word, could be paltry, in three words, unworkable, weak, and far too narrow,” Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) said on ABC.

The coronavirus pandemic has had a devastating impact on the U.S. economy, leading many businesses to close and lay off workers. Certain sectors, particularly travel, hospitality and retail, have been hit particularly hard. The economy lost more than 20 million jobs in April and has not even regained half of those workers in the three months since."

Other examples of autocratic moves by Trump.

Trump is learning to bend the bureaucracy to his will
    By Fred Hiatt
    August 9, 2020

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/opin...b48ab0-d8dd-11ea-aff6-220dd3a14741_story.html

    excerpt:

"In earlier years, someone — a White House chief of staff, an official in the Department of Homeland Security — might have stalled or dissuaded him. Now he has a DHS chief willing to provide a false rationale (as the government admitted in court last month) to enable this misuse of authority.

When Twitter put a fact-checking label on one of Trump’s lies — in this case, about mail-in voting — the president retaliated by ordering the Justice Department to withhold advertising from platforms that don’t knuckle under and telling the Federal Communications Commission to rewrite the rules for platforms he doesn’t like.

This time, the president did get a brushback, albeit a polite one, from a Republican member of the Federal Communications Commission. Michael O’Rielly obliquely called out the president’s orders for what they are: an attack on the First Amendment.

When German Chancellor Angela Merkel irritated Trump — declining to sign on to Trump’s harebrained scheme to include Russian President Vladimir Putin in a Group of Seven meeting — Trump retaliated by ordering the withdrawal of half of America’s troops from Germany. If he were still defense secretary, Jim Mattis might have questioned the move, noting that it would only help Russia and hurt the West. But Trump no longer tolerates senior officials who will stand up for what is right.

After repeated, vile — and, it probably doesn’t need saying, false — attacks on the Voice of America, Trump finally managed to install a lackey to run its parent agency. The new director, Michael Pack, promptly fired the qualified heads of several U.S. broadcasting networks and refused to renew visas for qualified, professional journalists.

Is he laying the groundwork to turn VOA into a Kremlin-style propaganda outlet? That’s not yet clear. What is clear, as Trump reaches into the U.S. Postal Service and U.S. attorney offices and beyond, is that opposition is being swept away.

Young acolytes in the White House personnel office are purging officials throughout the government who aren’t sufficiently loyal. They are plenty loyal to the United States, that is, but insufficiently fervent about Trump.

Some of the departures, such as Alexander Vindman’s, have been well documented. Others are happening out of sight.

And because Trump has simultaneously been purging independent inspectors general, who are supposed to keep an eye on malfeasance like this, many of these purges will remain out of sight. So, most likely, will many instances of “burrowing”: installing hacks in jobs that are meant to be apolitical."

You might be for correct, but since the amount is reduced, some people who are expecting the same amount might see the reduced amount, and say wtf.
