Trump had also challenged Hillary Clinton to a drug test in 2016. Trump challenges Biden to drug test before debate BBC News 27 August 2020 Trump challenges Biden to drug test before debate excerpt: "US President Donald Trump has called for himself and Democratic challenger Joe Biden to submit to drug tests before their first debate next month. Mr Trump told the Washington Examiner he had noticed a sudden improvement in Mr Biden's performance in the Democratic TV debates. The president offered no evidence his rival might be on drugs other than to say: "I'm pretty good at this stuff." Mr Biden and Mr Trump will have three debates before the 3 November election. Back in 2016, Mr Trump suggested his then-Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, had been "getting pumped up" before their debates and challenged her to take a drug test ahead of their final live TV encounter. The Clinton camp brushed aside his challenge."
Trump got a thunderous applause from his cult members when he showed he could drink water with one hand. People can say what they want about Democrats, but at least our standards are a bit higher than that.
Larry Kudlow is once again being a pathological optimist for Trump. The RNC keeps referring to Covid-19 in the past tense. 1,147 American deaths were reported Tuesday. Larry Kudlow and company are pretending the coronavirus pandemic is a thing of the past. By Aaron Rupar Aug 26, 2020, 12:05am EDT The RNC keeps referring to Covid-19 in the past tense. 1,147 American deaths were reported Tuesday. excerpt: "Speakers during Tuesday’s portion of the RNC repeatedly referred to the coronavirus pandemic in the past tense, as though it’s something the US has already overcome thanks to President Donald Trump’s leadership. In reality, the virus continues to ravage the country, and Trump hasn’t developed a plan to get things under control beyond blustering and buck-passing. The worst offender was White House economics adviser Larry Kudlow, whose speech on Tuesday made it sound like the coronavirus was over. “It was awful,” Kudlow said. “Health and economic impacts were tragic. Hardship and heartbreak were everywhere. But presidential leadership came swiftly and effectively with an extraordinary rescue for health and safety to successfully fight the Covid virus.”"
Larry Kudlow predicted a great recession for the Clinton years and was still denying the Great Recession that started at the end of G.W. Bush's second term when it was well underway. Opinion: Larry Kudlow’s history of bad economic calls Trump’s new economist blew the ’90s boom and the ’08 collapse By Paul Brandus Published: March 15, 2018 at 1:07 p.m. ET Larry Kudlow’s history of bad economic calls excerpt: "And Kudlow has made some enormous and stupendously bad calls. In the fall of 2007, when the housing and stock markets were collapsing, he downplayed it, writing in National Review that, “Despite all the doom and gloom from the economic pessimistas, the resilient U.S economy continues moving ahead quarter after quarter, year after year, defying dire forecasts and delivering positive growth.” Looking ahead to 2008—when the entire U.S. economy came crashing down and millions of Americans lost their jobs, and banks, automobile makers and mortgage lenders had it be bailed out to the tune of hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars—he said “we are about to enter the seventh consecutive year of the Bush boom.” Anyone who thinks otherwise, he added with flair, “are going to wind up with egg on their faces.” But wait: There’s more. Here’s one from 1993: “There is no question that President Clinton’s across-the-board tax increases on labor, capital and energy will throw a wet blanket over the recovery and depress the economy’s long-run potential,” Kudlow wrote. What happened next? The U.S. economy began an eight-year expansion, creating 21 million jobs—and the federal budget was balanced."
At the 2011 White House Correspondents' Dinner, Obama displayed an outlandish cartoon about how Trump would bring change to the White House if he was ever elected president. Trump was in the audience and wasn't laughing. The cartoon turned out to be prophetic of Trump's use of the White House for his personal gain for everything from his 2020 convention activities, to promoting Goya Foods with its products placed on his oval office desk to try to garner Hispanic votes, to Conway plugging Ivanka's clothing line (imported from China) from the White House press briefing room that Trump had rarely used for its intended purpose. image:

I'm surprised Trump and Melania weren't wrapped in American flags. Somebody must have slipped up. And shouldn't there have been some crosses around?
Trump hires only the best. 'She couldn't even pronounce convalescent plasma': FDA ousts spokesperson after 2 weeks Emily Miller's short tenure was marked by repeated clashes over the agency’s communications approach. By ADAM CANCRYN and DAN DIAMOND 08/28/2020 12:24 PM EDT Updated: 08/28/2020 08:34 PM EDT 'She couldn't even pronounce convalescent plasma': FDA ousts spokesperson after 2 weeks excerpt: "Hahn officially removed Miller, a fellow Trump appointee, from her post on Friday morning, ending a tenure that was marked by infighting and a damaging controversy this week over the FDA's emergency authorization of convalescent plasma as a Covid-19 treatment. Colleagues said that Miller, with no prior medical or science experience, was a bad fit inside an agency rushing to fight a pandemic. "There was an inability to do anything inside the agency," said one health official. "She couldn't even pronounce convalescent plasma." It's unclear whether Miller will leave the administration altogether or be reassigned elsewhere, although FDA moved swiftly to remove her name and photo from the agency's Twitter account. Miller's biography remained on the FDA website as of Friday evening — although scrubbed of her title and duties. Two individuals cautioned that Hahn's decision still needs sign-off from the White House personnel office, which helped hire Miller in consultation with senior HHS officials."
The head of the White House personnel office is John McEntee. He was the individual that the Secret Service threw out of the White House, literally, after security concerns related to gambling noticed during the tenure of Chief of Staff John Kelly who later quit the Trump administration in frustration. Trump rehired McEntee later to head the personnel office which is responsible for hiring and firing Trump administration officials. A new senior leader at the White House personnel office: A college senior The director of the personnel office, John McEntee, has installed a young, loyal aide as he evaluates the loyalty of officials across the administration. By DANIEL LIPPMAN and MERIDITH MCGRAW 02/25/2020 07:36 PM EST Updated: 02/25/2020 10:55 PM EST] A new senior leader at the White House personnel office: A college senior excerpt: "McEntee worked on the Trump campaign in 2016 as the president’s body man, and in his role at the White House had constant access to the president, flying with him on Marine One and Air Force One, and at the president’s side to assist with any needs. He was fired from his role in 2018 by former chief of staff John Kelly because of security concerns tied to gambling allegations. But McEntee wanted to return to the White House and is trusted by Trump, his family, and senior staff, was brought back earlier this year as the president is about to head into a reelection year and personnel changes are expected at the White House."
McEntee, a Trump loyalist who was thrown out of the White House, now has the power to retain or agree to throw out Emily Miller, a Trump loyalist, who was thrown out of the FDA by Hahn. Emily Miller has no medical or science experience, yet she was appointed to a position to handle FDA communications during the coronavirus pandemic. Miller is from the fringe right One America News that has become Trump's favorite network after he felt Fox wasn't agreeing with him on everything. 'She couldn't even pronounce convalescent plasma': FDA ousts spokesperson after 2 weeks "The FDA had also faced growing criticism over its hiring of Miller, a former reporter for far-right One America News. She had worked in Republican politics, including for Sen. Ted Cruz, and had become a prominent gun rights advocate, authoring a 2013 book entitled "Emily Gets Her Gun: But Obama Wants to Take Yours." FDA’s top communications role is traditionally filled by a career civil servant, and the job opening was initially listed as a position for career civil servants in April before being taken down. Miller was instead brought on as a political appointee, a decision that disappointed career FDA officials and raised further questions about the agency’s ability to withstand political pressure from the White House."
Strange there’s no mention in the history books of McGovern being up by 8 points with two months to go in the general election.....
Is that the same as getting Atwatered or Willie Hortoned or law and ordered or "they're coming for your daughter, Katie bar the doored"? Nixon tried it with some success in 1972 and G.H.W. Bush did likewise in 1988. Maybe the scare tactics will work again. Republicans still play hardball. But in those other elections, the incumbent Presidentst had more going for him in them in terms of policy achievements and a decent economy.
