Joe Biden's convention speech had higher ratings than Trump's

President Trump's Thursday night convention speech making the case for his reelection was lower-rated than his challenger Joe Biden's speech one week ago, according to overnight Nielsen ratings.

About 23.8 million viewers watched coverage of Trump's RNC address across thirteen cable and broadcast networks, down from 24.6 million viewers who watched Biden's DNC address on twelve of those same networks.

 

Trump will now have to launch a commission to locate the viewers who were supposedly illegally assigned to Biden instead of him.

Trump is a stark symptom, but merely a continuation of republican actions/desires over the decades of trying to rid the nation of FDRs programs of the 30s-40s. The wild accusations and fear mongering of this recent convention and Fox "news" ,Qanon and their ilk attempting to scare the hell out of people, will work on the weak minded and those that fear their white world has changed and is changing for the worse by the day. Trump, a severely mentally damaged person has now enabled the thoughts kept private to be uttered--nay--shouted right out loud without an ounce of shame or reasonableness into the public discourse. The enablers of such a horrible human being are complicit in the ruination of any stated /unstated understood rules of the democratic comportment required to at least seem to be a civil group of citizens/ legislators.

There is something to be said concerning the inequity of the personal resources allowed the working classes, when the balance is so obviously skewed year after year after year. The republicans with their fealty to the 1% want them to have it ALL. The democrats , being more progressive are at least willing to spread some of the resources "downward" to the working classes. The capitalist system has always been rigged for the monied class, a moneyocracy and with the republicans penchant for deregulating any laws/ rules that attempt to level the "playing field" even a little ---we have what we have now. Not the first time though. Happens again and again over the decades when republicans prevail and ---here we are.

Their desire to win for the right wing-plutocrats has become so blatant, so right out front---that now--even our elections are in doubt. Have a nice day. And remember---BUY MORE--BUY MORE NOW!

He thinks he's the absolute RULER of the U.S. No president barks and we're all supposed to jump - in ANY party. Rump is trying his damnedest to turn the U.S. into an authoritarian dictatorship like his idols Putin, Xi Jinping, and his "lover" Kim Jung Un.

Rump demonstrates hourly how little he cares about the American people or the safety & well-being. He continues to deny the need for masks, social distancing, avoiding crowds, etc. Hell ............. he wants giant rallies with thousands of people all coming to worship and adore him. At his rally yesterday, when the public address announcer said masks were recommended - the whole crowd BOOED !!!!! These assholes are THAT STUPID !!! They demonstrate their lack of care for their loved ones at home, parents, and other people in general - or even their OWN health. This shows the ABSOLUTE STUPIDITY and selfishness of Rump's base. The states where the numbers of Covid cases have dropped the most are ones where the governors were smart from the get-go - shutting down and telling people to wear masks, stay at home, avoid crowds, & social distance. The states with the Covid numbers that are climbing are the states that follow Rump's moronic proclamations to go out, live life, masks aren't necessary, come to my rallies, open up football and other sports, etc. Follow an idiot ....................... you ARE & LOOK like an idiot.

This denial of a deadly, GLOBAL PANDEMIC that has killed over 180,000 U.S. citizens already - and we haven't even entered the fall / winter season yet - is the first time in HISTORY that a political leader ......... and his party ............... have turned a deadly disease into a political point of debate for political gain. A F-ing disease !!!!!!!!! Can anyone imagine FDR, Truman, or Eisenhower making light of, and making a political joke of polio??? Those Presidents were REAL MEN ........................ not a spoiled brat of a child like Rump is.

Rump - referring to Michelle Obama's speech at the DNC - made fun of her for pre-taping her speech because, Rump said, "She didn't even have the numbers of dead right." - - - - - - - - He was correct. In the span of time from when she taped her speech to when Rump made fun of HER ........... the numbers of dead had risen from 150,000 to over 170,000 .................... on HIS WATCH !!!!!!!! With HIS bad advice on masks, social distancing, avoiding crowds, "It'll miraculously just disappear", etc. ............ the numbers had gotten EVEN WORSE !!!!!

That's like a fireman telling the occupants of a big apartment building that they don't need smoke detectors, and while a huge apartment fire rages, that same fireman makes fun of a news reporter for under-reporting the number of people who died in the fire. "Ha ............. this reporter got the number of dead people wrong!! It's actually much worse than that!!! "

But that's Rump ............ bragging about a horrible situation HE let get out of control by his lies, misinformation, gossip, and "going with his gut." And then blaming everyone else - governors, the media (? WTF), the medical experts, the CDC, the WHO, Dr. Fauci, Dr. Frieden, Dr. Osterholme, Obama, the Democrats for the "hoax", and on & on. It's on HIS WATCH.

The U.S. has the highest number of confirmed Covid-19 cases, and the highest number of people who died from it ................ than ANY OTHER COUNTRY ON THE PLANET !!!! And that stupid bastard brags about the incredibly fantastic job he's done for the American people about Covid. Look at the MILLIONS of jobs LOST because of Rump's INCOMPETENT leadership and lies. And that asshole tries to blame the Democrats for it!!! And anyone else he can blame. It's all HIS BABY, and he CAN NOT RUN FROM IT!!!!

Just imagine for a moment, if you will, of what the REPUBLICAN PARTY would say if this was a Democrat in the White House - doing and saying all the very same things that RUMP has pulled over on the U.S. citizens !!

 

Become educated about American history, The Constitution and what it protects - (as well as PREVENTS, for example: one-person rule by a dictator) and which political party has traditionally stood up for the avg. American citizen. Most people paid no attention in American history classes, or in Civics classes ( a class that THE REPUBLICAN PARTY is increasingly against being taught in schools anymore ) - because "They're boring. These classes are so stupid. Why do I have to learn about THIS STUFF for?? "

That attitude by U.S. students for decades is why we pay such a high price these days in our political elections. People ARE NOT SMART about U.S. politics and who stands for who. There is no polite way to say it. Education and BEING SMART is the best weapon any of us have about anything in life - and electing our public servants is about as important as it gets.

 

This ............ from the same idiot who told us ON NATIONAL TV - that, "It's only one person coming in from China." Then several days later, "It's only 15 people. We have everything under control. Nothing to worry about. You watch, it'll miraculously disappear."

I - and many millions of people in the U.S. and around the world - just want HIM to DISAPPEAR. What a GIANT STAIN Rump has been on the U.S.

 

Here is the problem as I see it. Half of American society doesn't want to be told what to think, or do. It's pretty hard to educate people who don't want to be educated.

Trump likely would have been in much better political shape if he had acknowledged the reality of the coronavirus earlier in the year. His denialism and initial fears of it wrecking his reelection hopes are what damaged his reelection hopes.

Now he's dependent on delusional narratives, such as saying the virus may have been intentionally released by China, accusing Democrats of supposedly keeping the country shut down so he and others can't watch football to wreck his reelection, and claiming that his virus response was perfect the whole time because he kept out Chinese nationals which he thinks saved millions of American lives.

The RNC convention rhetoric spoke of the coronavirus as if it was a plague of the past and that Trump was everyone's savior and vanquished it, even though Americans continue to die of it at about 1000 per day.

"Ms. Cortez’s care is supposed to be covered under a program Mr. Trump announced this spring as the coronavirus pandemic was taking hold — a time when millions of people were losing their health insurance and the administration was doubling down on trying to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, the law that had expanded coverage to more than 20 million people.

“This should alleviate any concern uninsured Americans may have about seeking the coronavirus treatment,” Mr. Trump said in April about the program, which is supposed to cover testing and treatment for uninsured people with Covid-19, using money from the federal coronavirus relief package passed by Congress.

The program has drawn little attention since, but a review by The New York Times of payments made through it, as well as interviews with hospital executives, patients and health policy researchers who have examined the payments, suggest the quickly concocted plan has not lived up to its promise. It has caused confusion at participating hospitals, which in some cases have mistakenly billed patients like Ms. Cortez who should be covered by it. Few patients seem to know the program exists, so they don’t question the charges. And some hospitals and other medical providers have chosen not to participate in the program, which bars them from seeking any payment from patients whose bills they submit to it.

Large numbers of patients have also been disqualified because Covid-19 has to be the primary diagnosis for a case to be covered (unless the patient is pregnant). Since hospitalized Covid patients often have other serious medical conditions, many have other primary diagnoses. At Jackson Health in Miami, for example, only 60 percent of uninsured Covid-19 patients had decisively met the requirements to have their charges covered under the program as of late July, a spokeswoman said."

 

What's troubling to me is what Michael Moore said the other day. He thinks Trump might pull it off again because he still has vast popularity. The Democrats need to take this seriously and keep the fight on until the last minute. They need to keep a close eye on all the illegalities which Trump seems so fond of, and Barr willing to coverup for him.

Woe betide any Republican who stands in his way. Just as Hillary Clinton used her influence over the Democratic Party establishment to steamroll Bernie Sanders when it was "her turn" in 2016, Donald Trump will use his influence over the Republican Party base to undermine any fellow Republican who has the temerity to suggest that it is time for a fresh face in 2024. Ex-president Trump will tower over the Republican field. And if the Republican Party dares to nominate someone else, the unlucky nominee will have to fight both the Democrats and Donald Trump.

It wouldn't be the first time that a one-term president demanded a rematch four years later. In 1884, the Democrat Grover Cleveland squeaked out a victory over the Republican James G. Blaine by winning the Republican redoubt of Indiana and the (then) swing state of New York. Four years later, the Republicans nominated the former Indiana Senator Benjamin Harrison for president, paired with a former Representative from New York. They lost the popular vote, but won both states, booting Cleveland from the White House.

Grover Cleveland's first lady, Frances Folsom Cleveland, is supposed to have exhorted the White House staff "to take good care of all the furniture and ornaments in the house, for I want to find everything just as it is now when we come back again four years from today." And return she did. In 1892, her husband Grover brushed aside appeals to give someone else a chance, ignored policy differences that led rebel Democrats to from a breakaway Populist Party, and bulldozed his way back into the White House. Cleveland remains the only person to have served two non-consecutive terms as president, going down in history as the 22nd and 24th president of the United States.:

 

I hope that's not the case. The make or break will be the debates. If Biden seems incoherent that's not good, but if trump comes off looking like a fool, that's a plus for us. I also think it's important that Harris does good in her debate. I think she should have an easy time with Pence.

If trump is reelected I will probably move to Canada. I couldn't do it last time, but my situation has changed.

 

The article assumes that Trump won't be mired in criminal prosecution and financial turmoil during the four years after an election loss in 2020 without himself or a Republican in the White House to pardon him of federal crimes and that he may face state crimes that would need to be pardoned by a governor.

 

Virtual debates with the two candidates in separate locations would circumvent Trump's stage antics and speaking out of turn to interfere with the other candidate.
