The return of the coronavirus task force briefings with Trump at the White House never materialized after he said he would restart them in late July because they were giving him such high TV ratings.

Trump is apparently trying to justify the use of $200 gift cards to seniors by saying it will be a demonstration pursuant to Medicare Section 402 to see if seniors will be more adherent to taking their medications if their out-of-pocket prescription drug costs are lower.

Trump scrambling to implement it just a few weeks away from the election is a sordid use Section 402.

Trump blasts Sasse for predicting Senate Republican bloodbath

The president called Ben Sasse “little”, “the least effective of our 53 Republican senators”, “rather stupid and obnoxious” and “an embarrassment to the great state of Nebraska”.

Sasse’s crime was to have criticised Trump in robust terms on a call with constituents first reported by the Washington Examiner, saying the president “kisses dictators’ butts” and “flirts with white supremacists”.

 

Trump mistakenly thinks that the state of Michigan is shut down and is calling for it to reopen.

Michigan is open. Schools and churches are open with districts deciding how they will proceed safely, not by a rash decree to open everything immediately from Trump who is desperate to win reelection and who has bungled the coronavirus response from its start, such as calling for churches to be packed on Easter Sunday six months ago when he thought the virus would be gone.
