It's a risk for Raffensperger and Germany to be talking directly with Trump about altering an election result. Words they say have a potential to be construed as aiding Trump and his criminal behavior.

Raffensperger and Germany stayed quiet for most of the call and refuted Trump's claims.

Georgia's Raffensperger says he 'never believed' it appropriate to speak with Trump about election

    excerpt:

“We took the call, and we had a conversation. He did most of the talking, we did most of the listening," Raffensperger said. "But I did want to make my points that the data that he has is just plain wrong."

“For the last two months, we’ve been fighting the rumor whack-a-mole,” Raffensperger added. “And it was pretty obvious very early on that we debunked every one of those theories that have been out there, but that President Trump continues to believe them.

Trump would say that he is defending U.S. Code Title 52.

In his mind, he was cheated out of the election. He believes election officials are committing a crime by not reporting Title 52 crimes.

Chaos, division, shakeups and shakedowns: Two months that sum up Trump's presidency

Chaos, division, shakeups and shakedowns: Two months that sum up Trump's presidency

    excerpt:

"They also perfectly encapsulate the entire Trump presidency.

False claims and conspiracy theories. Chaos. Firings and staff shakeups. Controversial pardons. Defeats in Congress and the courts. A divided Republican Party – split between those willing to do the president’s bidding and those thinking he’s gone too far. And to top it all off, a leaked phone call asking Georgia’s secretary of state to overturn the election results on a day when U.S. coronavirus deaths surpass 350,000."

All of that is not bad at all because Trump says he is trying to reveal unreported election crimes and overall hospital occupancy is still below 100%.

Democrats ask FBI Director Wray to open criminal probe into Trump after leaked phone call

    excerpt:

"The phone call, which went on for about an hour, featured Trump repeatedly pushing Raffensperger to alter the vote total while launching a barrage of discredited conspiracy theories at the Republican election official and his staff. The president went as far as suggesting that, should the secretary of state not act in accordance with Trump's wishes, he could be criminally liable.

"The people of Georgia are angry. The people in the country are angry," Trump said in the call. "And there's nothing wrong with saying, you know, um, that you've recalculated."

Raffensperger and his office's general counsel, Ryan Germany, spent the call swatting down the president's claims — at times telling him his specific allegations of fraud were flat-out wrong.

"Well, Mr. President, the challenge that you have is the data you have is wrong," Raffensperger said at one point.

In their letter, Lieu and Rice allege, "The evidence of election fraud by Mr. Trump is now in broad daylight."

"Given the more than ample factual predicate, we are making a criminal referral to you to open an investigation into Mr. Trump," the lawmakers wrote."

Republicans have for years complained about people who feel entitled in America. They always said entitlements are a problem when constructing our budget for the year. Now they are strangely silent about their own leader who is acting as if he is entitled.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Raffensperger was pressured into taking the phone call from trump from someone higher up in the Georgia republican party.

I’d like to know who that person was.

Trump lashes out at Tom Cotton.

'NEVER FORGET’: Trump threatens Cotton over Electoral College certification

    excerpt:

"President Donald Trump warned Sen. Tom Cotton on Monday that Republican voters would "never forget" GOP lawmakers who fail to embrace Trump's baseless effort to contest President-elect Joe Biden's Electoral College victory.

“How can you certify an election when the numbers being certified are verifiably WRONG,” Trump tweeted. “You will see the real numbers tonight during my speech, but especially on JANUARY 6th. @SenTomCotton Republicans have pluses & minuses, but one thing is sure, THEY NEVER FORGET!”"

'NEVER FORGET’: Trump threatens Cotton over Electoral College certification

    excerpt:

"Cotton (R-Ark.), an otherwise staunch ally of the president, announced over the weekend that he would not join nearly a dozen Senate Republicans and more than 100 House members in challenging the Electoral College results Wednesday in a last-ditch attempt at awarding Trump a second term he did not win. In his statement, Cotton dismissed the gambit, flatly noting that “objecting to certified electoral votes won’t give him a second term” and instead will backfire on Republicans.

“The Founders entrusted our elections chiefly to the states — not Congress," Cotton said. "They entrusted the election of our president to the people, acting through the Electoral College — not Congress."

Trump also lobbed a more general attack at Republicans who have disavowed the effort — a group that includes former House Speaker Paul Ryan, who said it is "difficult to conceive of a more anti-democratic and anti-conservative act.""

Trump told Raffensperger that other states would be flipping to Trump shortly.

Trump's Call To Georgia Election Officials Sparks Debate Over Legality, Ethics

    excerpt:

"You would be respected if this thing could be straightened out before the election," Trump said, referring to Tuesday's Senate runoffs in Georgia.

Trump also appeared to indicate to Raffensperger that he may be engaging with other state officials about election results in other parts of the country.

"I mean there's turmoil in Georgia and other places," he said. "You're not the only one, I mean, we have other states that I believe will be flipping to us very shortly."
