Now he wants to be Michigan’s governor. excerpt: "“Ryan, why did you partake in an act of sedition on Jan. 6?” The Allendale Township planning commissioner is a real estate agent and lifestyle vlogger who boosted his profile while organizing right-wing opposition to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s coronavirus orders. Throughout 2020, Kelley built a following among aggrieved Michiganders under the banner of the American Patriot Council, a group he co-founded with longtime friend and former classmate Jason Howland. The APC’s message went beyond how best to manage the public health threat or reform election processes. Kelley organized rallies that embraced armed paramilitary groups, spread misinformation about COVID-19 and called for the arrest of Whitmer and other government officials they labeled traitors. At least seven of the 14 men who were arrested for allegedly plotting to kidnap Whitmer and try her for treason attended American Patriot Council events. Kelley denounced the accused terrorists, though a blog posted to the APC website after the arrests were announced speculates that the would-be kidnappers were “planted by the left to defame good, law-abiding citizens.”"
It's the same twisted alibi that Trump's protesters used for their riot at the U.S. Capitol. Trump might as well also say that the plot by his followers to kidnap governor Whitmer of Michigan was harmless right from the start, like he did about his siege on the U.S. Capitol.

U.S. coronavirus deaths surpassed 400,000 on Trump's final day in office, a depressing milestone that was partly the result of his dismissive attitude about the virus. On Trump’s Last Full Day, Nation Records 400,000 Covid Deaths
U.S. coronavirus deaths were 77,000 in the month of December, Trump's last full month in office. The numbers were worse for January and February. The death toll lags the number of new cases by about 3 to 4 weeks. The Final Two Months of Trump’s Presidency Were The Most Important Ones excerpt: "More than 77,000 Americans died of COVID-19 in December, according to the COVID Tracking Project, the deadliest month of the virus outbreak in the United States so far. (December is notable because it was Trump’s last full month in office.) Deaths from the coronavirus have surged since early November, going from around 1,000 deaths per day to more than 3,000 per day in the last few weeks. Some of the increase was expected, since people were more likely to retreat indoors as it got colder during the fall and winter, so the increase was certainly not solely Trump’s fault. But this level of daily death likely would have been treated as a huge crisis by another president. Instead, Trump was basically disengaged from dealing with the virus in the post-election period."
As of January 26, the U.S. coronavirus death toll for January was 79,200. The U.S. coronavirus death toll was about 145,000 during Trump's last 51 days in office. https://www.cnbc.com/2021/01/27/us-reports-record-number-of-covid-deaths-in-january.html
The coronavirus winter surge in the U.S. started in late October 2020. The Trump administration made a public statement in November encouraging people to gather for the winter holidays. Trump encourages Americans to 'gather' in Thanksgiving proclamation despite coronavirus surge excerpt" "President Trump issued a proclamation encouraging Americans to gather “in homes and places of worship” ahead of Thanksgiving, even as his successor and public health officials have urged people to practice social distancing and avoid large gatherings during the holidays to curb the spread of COVID-19. “I encourage all Americans to gather, in homes and places of worship, to offer a prayer of thanks to God for our many blessings,” he said in the proclamation, which is custom for presidents to issue marking holidays, on Wednesday. While still in office, Trump didn't acknowledge that he was vaccinated in January at the White House. Trump squandered an opportunity to publicly promote his vaccination, as if to avoid taking any criticism from his hardcore base while he was still in office, and to leave even more of a mess for Biden to clean.
Trump made public statements that dismissed the coronavirus by saying that it affects virtually no one. Young Latinos have been impacted hard by the coronavirus compared with White people. https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...rump-says-he-recommends-coronavirus-vaccines/ excerpt: "Coronavirus has proven especially deadly to young Latinos. In California, state figures show that Latino people died of the virus at more than 5½ times the rate of White people the same age. The higher mortality rates from the virus has caused Latinos’ life expectancy to plummet by about three years during the pandemic, The Post’s Akilah Johnson reports. “The findings proved all the more stunning because for years researchers had recognized that Latinos in the United States lived longer than White people, despite social, political, economic and environmental factors that typically erode health and shorten lives,” she writes."
