Trump should meet with the relatives of the 140 police officers who were injured and the three officers who died and explain his remark about his rioters at the Capitol hugging and kissing the police.

Mother of police officer injured in Capitol riot says she's outraged by Trump's lies that his supporters were 'hugging and kissing' cops during attack - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"Washington (CNN)The mother of a DC Police officer who was brutally assaulted while defending the US Capitol during the January 6 insurrection said Monday that she and her family are outraged by former President Donald Trump's claim that his supporters were "hugging and kissing" officers during the riot and that the mob posed "zero threat."

Terry Fanone, the mother of officer Michael Fanone, who was stun-gunned several times, beaten with a flagpole and heard people screaming, "Kill him with his own gun," told CNN's Don Lemon on "CNN Tonight" that when she thinks about Trump's recent comments, "What goes through my mind is really outrage."

"For us, for our family, and for each and every police officer that I know that Michael's in touch with constantly, it's outrageous. It's so dehumanizing. It's so devaluing," she said.

The former President falsely claimed in an interview with Fox News last week that the pro-Trump mob that stormed the Capitol earlier this year in an attack that left five dead, including a police officer, behaved properly with law enforcement and that there was "zero threat" to the building. He also claimed that some of the rioters "went in, and they are hugging and kissing the police and the guards.""

Officer Sicknick's body was at the rotunda of the Capitol after the riot for people to pay respect. Trump could have visited the rotunda and the other officers in the hospitals to see the effects of the 'hugs and kisses' of his protesters, but he didn't.

In 2020, Trump went out of his way to enlist the national guard from various Republican-controlled states without invoking the Insurrection Act by using them under the guise of 'training missions'. He used that approach to quash protests by groups he didn't like who were outside of DC and not subject to the national guard of DC that Trump controlled directly.

In contrast, when the siege on the Capitol in DC happened, Trump left the responsibility of enlisting the guard to others, such as the governor of Virginia. As president, Trump had control of the guard in DC without having to implement circumventing maneuvers like he did in 2020, yet he sat and watched the riot on TV.

Showing up might be interpreted as a sign that Trump cares about others. Throughout his life, his only interest has been in being perceived as a person that cares, not one who sincerely does.

Then again, who am I to say? We've got tens of millions of poor & middle class folks telling us that this mega-wealthy from birth elitist is the one who best understands their problems.

    I mean........please.

‘Apprentice’ Contestant Can Proceed With Trump Suit After Court Ruling

    excerpt:

"The legal issues facing former President Donald J. Trump compounded on Tuesday when the highest court in New York State allowed a defamation suit from a former contestant on his reality television show “The Apprentice” to proceed.

The suit was filed by the contestant, Summer Zervos, in 2017, after Mr. Trump said that she had lied when she accused him of having groped and kissed her against her will years earlier.

Mr. Trump had tried to stop the suit, arguing that as president, he was protected from legal action. Two courts had decided against him before his lawyers appealed the case to the State Court of Appeals, the highest court in New York. But before the court heard the case, Mr. Trump ceased to be president."

Court voids Trump campaign's non-disclosure agreement

    excerpt:

"A federal judge ruled Tuesday that a broad non-disclosure agreement that Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign required employees to sign is unenforceable.

U.S. District Court Judge Paul Gardephe’s ruling generally steered clear of the constitutional issues presented by such agreements in the context of political campaigns. Instead, the judge — an appointee of President George W. Bush — said the sweeping, boilerplate language the campaign compelled employees to sign was so vague that the agreement was invalid under New York contract law."

In October 2019, Matt Gaetz (the law-and-order House member) led the storming of the U.S. House illegally on the day an official from the military was testifying about Trump at a private hearing during his first impeachment.

The storming had a quality similar to that of the siege on the Capitol in the name of Trump (the law-and-order president)

Trump ally Matt Gaetz says he faces federal investigation 'regarding sexual conduct'

    excerpt:

"Matt Gaetz, a prominent Republican in Congress and a close ally of Donald Trump, said on Tuesday he was being investigated by the justice department over a former relationship but denied any criminal wrongdoing.

Gaetz, who represents parts of western Florida, told Axios that his lawyers were informed that he was the subject of an investigation “regarding sexual conduct with women” but that he was not a target of the inquiry. He denied that he ever had a relationship with any underage girls and said the allegations against him were “as searing as they are false”.

A subject is conventionally thought of as someone whose actions fall within the scope of a criminal investigation, whereas a target is someone whom prosecutors have gathered evidence linking to a crime. But during the course of an investigation, a subject can become a target."

The investigation was started last August when Bill Barr was in charge of the DOJ.

    Summary of Capitol riot arrests.

What we know about the Capitol riot arrests - CBS News

    excerpt:

"Of the five police officers employed at the time of the riot, four have since lost their jobs. An officer in North Cornwall Township, Pennsylvania was suspended without pay after he was charged with, among other crimes, obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder. Houston police officer Tam Dinh Pham and Monmouth County correctional police officer Marissa Suarez both resigned after they were arrested, and two Virginia police officers were fired after prosecutors charged them for their alleged conduct at the Capitol.

Laura Steele, a member of the Oath Keepers militia indicted for conspiracy, worked for the High Point Police Department in North Carolina for 12 years before she was terminated for conduct toward superior personnel, absence from duty, and violating a communications policy, a spokesperson for High Point Police said. Her husband, Kenneth Steele — who was not alleged to be at the Capitol riot — retired on January 1 as assistant police chief."

Bill Barr likely to have approved Matt Gaetz's sex trafficking investigation launched when Trump was president

    excerpt:

""Keep in mind, when this investigation was opened, it was opened under the Justice Department under William P Barr, who last February, told all prosecutors if anyone is investigated with a member of Congress, somebody running for office, anybody high-profile, that investigation had to be signed off on by their supervisor, the head of the criminal division and briefed to Bill Barr himself,” Kettie Benner, one of the authors of the NYT report, said, according to Raw Story. “It is unlikely that Bill Barr would have investigated one of President Trump’s biggest allies as part of an extortion plot.”

Gaetz, who had taken on party colleague and Wyoming Representative Liz Cheney two months ago for voting in favor of Trump’s impeachment in the House in January, told Fox News on Tuesday night that the “horrible allegation” against him “is a lie”. The Florida lawmaker, who has privately revealed that he is considering leaving the Congress early to take a job at conservative news outlet Newsmax and not seek re-election, had encounters with the girl in 2019, the Times report said citing sources. Investigators are zeroing on whether he paid for the girl to travel with him across state lines and breached federal sex-trafficking laws."

    Trump's protesters begging for forgiveness.

Capitol rioters are begging for forgiveness as they face stiff prison sentences: report

    excerpt:

"In another case, "The day after Chad Jones allegedly swung a flag pole at police just outside the House chamber, he told a friend he was an 'idiot,' adding he knew he was 'in big trouble,' according to court documents. He was right. A week later a federal complaint charged him with, among other things, using a weapon — the flag pole — to assault an officer. The charges carry a maximum 60 years in prison.""
