McConnell is upset about proposed tax on billionaires.

Mitch McConnell slams Democrats' proposal to tax billionaires, calling it a 'harebrained scheme' to penalize people who 'invested wisely'

    excerpt:

""This harebrained scheme would have the IRS penalizing people who invested wisely and compensating people who have invested poorly," McConnell said in remarks on the Senate floor.

The "scheme" McConnell was referring to is Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden's "billionaires tax," which would impose annual taxes on the increased value of the assets of the wealthiest Americans, even if they're not sold, or "realized." Assets like stocks are taxed only when they're sold, which is an incentive for people to keep them and pass them on to heirs.

As Insider previously reported, Wyden's proposal differs from Sen. Elizabeth Warren's ultramillionaire tax, which would place a 2% tax on household net worth between $50 million and $1 billion and a 3% tax on household net worth over $1 billion. President Joe Biden previously indicated he supported Wyden's proposal."

This harebrained scheme would only penalize crooks and institutions who have paid zero income tax for years!! The bastards !! Meanwhile, I can't even get a deduction for my required home office and required unreimbursed sales mileage on my car. Good thing zillionaire investors can write off their margin interest and brokerage fees. Seems the only thing that trickles down is them pissing on the middle class.

'It's absolutely getting worse': Secretaries of state targeted by Trump election lies live in fear for their safety and are desperate for protection - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"Officials and aides in secretary of state offices in Arizona and other states targeted by former President Donald Trump in his attack on last year's election results told CNN about living in constant terror -- nervously watching the people around them at events, checking in their rearview mirrors for cars following them home and sitting up at night wondering what might happen next.

Law enforcement has never had to think much about protecting secretaries of state, let alone allocating hundreds of thousands of dollars in security, tracking and follow-up. Their jobs used to be mundane, unexciting, bureaucratic. These are small offices in a handful of states with enormous power in administering elections, from mailing ballots to overseeing voting machines to keeping track of counted votes.

None were prepared to be publicly attacked. They don't have the budgets to monitor threats, and certainly not to suddenly protect officials who never had to be protected before. No systems were in place on the state or federal level to back them up, and the Department of Justice admits that the federal government doesn't yet have the infrastructure to handle the situation.

Staff members in the offices say they're dealing with long-term emotional and psychological trauma after a year of constant threats -- in person and virtually -- to the secretaries and to themselves."

Trump said at a rally that he was cheated out of his first term because of the investigations about him and that it makes him eligible for an extra term. That would give him three terms.

He thinks the 2020 election was stolen from him which gives him another extra term, making it four terms.

Trump could just as well say that he should be allowed to be president for life.

Trump essentially said that when he remarked about China no longer having term limits on its presidency. Trump said that maybe the U.S. should try it.

Trump lauds 'great friend' Jair Bolsonaro, as the Brazilian president has 9 criminal charges recommended against him

    excerpt:

"Former US President Donald Trump announced his endorsement on Tuesday evening of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, who just hours before had criminal charges recommended against him by a Brazilian Senate committee for his pandemic response.

"President Jair Bolsonaro and I have become great friends over the past few years. He fights hard for, and loves, the people of Brazil — just like I do for the people of the United States," wrote Trump in a statement.

"Brazil is lucky to have a man such as Jair Bolsonaro working for them. He is a great President and will never let the people of his great country down!"

On the same day, seven senators of an 11-member Brazilian senate commission voted to recommend nine charges against Bolsonaro, including crimes against humanity and charlatanism.

They approved a 1,180-page report, the compiled findings of a six-month inquiry into Bolsonaro and his administration's pandemic handling.

It said Bolsonaro had repeatedly promoted dangerous, false claims about COVID-19 and had tried to stop Congress from introducing public health mandates around masks."

And its equally unfortunate that tens of millions of folks agree with him.

Can you imagine what a second term of Trump would be like? Yes, he wouldn't have to worry about re-election anymore......instead, he'd be spending his term trying to bend the Constitution to allow him to continue as king (um, as president) for the rest of his miserable life.

Personally, I don't think he'd be looking to effect constructive change for the country or to accomplish his agenda. Rather, his goals would be to further punish his enemies while basking in the adulation of being president, which he loves.

In the election of 2020, the country had fully viewed what this moron was about over the previous 4 years. Still, over 70 million people voted for him.

Do you not think that democracy and the future of our country is in deep trouble?

    Well, think again.

They tried to overturn the 2020 election. Now they want to run the next one.

    excerpt:

"“The danger is you’re lying to either yourself or to millions of people when you try to run for these large, statewide elected offices,” Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, a Republican, said of the false electoral fraud claims.

Duncan, a vocal critic of Trump and other Republicans who push the election fraud myth, recently announced he would not seek reelection and instead focus on his “GOP 2.0” initiative. He said a fixation on it will only hurt Republicans in the long term.

“There is a vacuum of leadership, and folks wanting to put themselves into even higher leadership positions, continuing to carry on with the lies and misinformation, continues to create an even bigger vacuum around our party,” he said.

Duncan, who was in Washington D.C. last week to take meetings about GOP 2.0 (he declined to say with whom) said he believed the party would come around: “They’re just going to get tired of losing. They’re going to get tired of running people out there that just are unelectable.”"

Trump loses Twitter case in Florida,.

He was trying to settle in FL, but he will have to fight it in CA where Twitter is based.

Florida federal judge says Trump's former status as a US president doesn't exempt him from Twitter's terms of service

    excpert:

"On Tuesday, a Florida federal judge ruled that former President Donald Trump's status as a US president doesn't exclude him from Twitter's terms of service, according to court documents seen by Insider.

In July, Trump filed a lawsuit in Florida against Twitter and its CEO for suspending his account permanently on January 7, a day after the Capitol siege. The suspension was made on the grounds of Trump inciting violence through the platform, said Twitter at the time.

The former president cited censorship concerns in his lawsuit, saying that social media giants like Facebook, Twitter, and Google were "silencing" conservative voices and were being coerced by Democratic lawmakers.

On Tuesday, Florida District Judge Robert N. Scola Jr granted Twitter's motion to transfer the case to the Northern District of California, as required by a clause in the social media company's user agreement signed by all Twitter users."

Fucking idiots, you can't have a vacuum in leadership, when you command a lynch mob. At least half the damned GOP is nothing more than a fucking mindless lynch mob, and if they have any complaints about Fox News or Donald Duck or Talk Radio, they can take it up with their own fucking supreme court.

Of course it is. Unfortunately, the only thing that will seem to save it is being able to spend more money on the election than the opposition, which in itself is the slippery slope. I mean, Trumph financed attack ads are already on TV. Their tactics is simply wearing people down with the big lie, over and over and over and over again...

I don't see Trump getting elected again but I could be wrong. Joe Biden's approval rating keeps slipping as he's been unable to get his agenda passed. It's not entirely his fault, the Repubs keep blocking it, under orders from either Donald Trump or Mitch McConnell. While those two don't see eye to eye they both see the Democrats as the common enemy.

I'm more concerned that the GOP might take back the House and Senate in 2022 and get someone else elected in 2024, someone with Trump's blessing. Yes, democracy and the future of our country is in deep trouble.

Andy Borowitz should do a satire article about McConnell.

    satire:

"Mitch McConnell today proposed raising taxes on the poor and giving the money to billionaires as reward for investing wisely.

McConnell stated that the tax will serve as punishment for the poor who didn't invest prudently, encouraging them to become future billionaires."
