Man Who Served in U.S. Military, Praised Ashli Babbitt Online Now Faces Charges for Storming the Capitol on Jan. 6 excerpt: "Federal authorities on Thursday unsealed a criminal case against a defendant accused of playing a role in the Jan. 6, 2021 siege on the U.S. Capitol Complex — exactly one year to the day after the fateful event. James Wayne Brooks of Knoxville, Tenn., is accused of four counts: (1) entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds; (2) disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds; (3) disorderly conduct in a capitol building; and (4) parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a capitol building. A warrant indicates that Brooks was arrested Jan. 5, 2022. According to an FBI statement of facts filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, agents tracked Brooks by comparing images from the Jan. 6 siege to the defendant’s driver license photo. From there, agents used the defendant’s Facebook account to obtain associated credit card and bank account information. Brooks’ credit card was used to make purchased at a hotel in Bethesda, Md., less than 11 miles from the Capitol building."

After January 6, Trump’s hold on US Republicans persists excerpt: "Part of the reason for his continued dominance, explained David Schultz, a professor of politics at Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota, is that Trump remains a “charismatic” figure who appeals to the passions of Republican voters. “Trump has been very successful capturing people through fear, through prejudice, through emotions,” Schultz told Al Jazeera. “The Republican Party is Trump now. Without Trump, I don’t think there is a Republican Party.” Whether Trump’s outsized influence will last is an open question. Near-term political trends are in his favour, but continuing investigations into his role in the January 6 insurrection and ongoing legal troubles related to his New York real estate business pose risks."
Fann's office has been under pressure by the court to release documents that are held by Cyber Ninjas which has for months refused to release them. Fann made herself vulnerable by selecting an inexperienced, outside, private entity to conduct an election audit. Logan at Cyber Ninjas did the same by accepting the offer. Those problems stem from Trump's election lies and poor judgement by Fann and Logan.
The courts generally haven't agreed with that assessment. Cyber Ninjas should have realized this before accepting an election audit offer that involves a responsibility for producing public records when asked, and to an extent that it might not agree to comply. The novel use of private firms for audit activities that involve public records such as elections is currently playing out in the courts.
Cyber Ninjas has been highly biased in Trump's favor. It saw the AZ election audit as a way of supporting him and jumping on the national bandwagon of his truth narratives. It's costing the company dearly. A year and two months after the 2020 election, officials in Maricopa County AZ recently announced publicly that they are finished with the AZ 2020 election audits and that Biden won. They also gave a scathing review of the results of the audit performed by Cyber Ninjas. 2020 election: Maricopa County officials rebut error-plagued review - CNNPolitics
Ohio is in the same league as Texas. Capitol riot: 38 Ohioans charged. Six pleaded guilty. Five sentenced. excerpt: "The list of Ohio men and women charged in connection to the breach of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 includes veterans, business owners and school officials. So far, six of the 38 Ohioans accused of crimes ranging from disorderly conduct to assault have pleaded guilty. Five received sentences ranging from probation to 45 days in jail. The cases are being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia."
Christine Priola of Ohio gave up her career for Trump. She was working for the Cleveland school system as a child therapist. She is seen in photos on the floor of the Senate during the riot. Now she needs a therapist. Children show better judgement than she does.
I hear they have plenty of bottom bunk therapists in federal prison. Kiss any school job good bye with a felony on your record. I mean, what did they think was going to be the outcome, that they'd hang Pelosi and Pence and freedom would ring and everyone would get a trophy for participating ?
Meadows is nervous. Meadows urges Supreme Court to quickly decide Trump’s Jan. 6 lawsuit excerpt: "Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, facing a potential criminal charge for defying a Jan. 6 select committee subpoena, is pleading with the Supreme Court to expedite its consideration of a lawsuit filed by Donald Trump — a decision he notes could get him, and other former Trump aides, off the hook. In a 34-page brief on Friday, Meadows said he and other Trump aides subpoenaed by the Jan. 6 committee are caught between a former president — who claims he can still assert executive privilege — and President Joe Biden, who has rejected Trump’s assertions and ordered the release of key documents to congressional investigators."
Trump and Meadows are likely on the losing side of the executive privilege argument. The best they can do is to try to delay a decision until after January 2023 when the GOP might regain control of the House. A quick decision by the Supreme Court against them (like it did twice with Nixon) would make their situation even more difficult.
