The voter registration efforts of Stacey Abrams likely tipped the two U.S. Senate seats to Democrats in the 2021 GA special election. Abrams narrowly lost the governor race in GA in 2018 to Kemp who is now on Trump's retaliation list for not overthrowing the 2020 election for him. Trump is endorsing Perdue instead of Kemp. Trump endorsed Kemp for governor in July 2018.
None of that is good enough for Trump if a politician isn't willing to overthrow an election for him. Trump threw Kemp under the bus. Trump endorses Brian Kemp in Georgia GOP gov race excerpt: "In an afternoon tweet, Trump said Kemp was “tough on crime, strong on the border and illegal immigration,” and the president urged his supporters to cast ballots for Kemp in the July 24 race. “He loves our Military and our Vets and protects our Second Amendment,” Trump wrote. “I give him my full and total endorsement.”"
Trump’s favorite Yiddish words should come as a surprise to no one excerpt: "On Jan. 3, The Washington Post reported that Trump deployed a well-known Yiddish vulgarity in a recorded conversation with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. Twice, Trump referred to himself as a “schmuck” for endorsing Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, a fellow Republican who hasn’t supported the president’s claims of voter fraud.
Deputy Virginia Attorney General Resigns Over Posts Praising Capitol Rioters excerpt: "A deputy attorney general for Virginia has resigned after social media posts surfaced in which she reportedly praised Capitol rioters on Jan. 6, 2021 and falsely claimed Donald Trump won the 2020 election. Monique Miles was Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares' deputy attorney general for government operations and transactions. On the afternoon of Jan. 6, Miles wrote on Facebook the Capitol attack was being carried out by “patriots," according to The Washington Post, which first reported the news of Miles' resignation."
Washington Man Who Punched Two Cops at the Capitol on Jan. 6 Sentenced to Time Behind Bars excerpt: "The Washington state man who punched two police officers during a standoff at the Capitol on Jan. 6 has been sentenced to six months in prison. Mark Leffingwell, 52, pleaded guilty in October to one count of assaulting, resisting, or impeding police officers. He faced off against police inside the Capitol building as officers struggled to hold off the mob, and when the officers made a move to physically push Leffingwell and others out of the building, Leffingwell struck back. He first punched Capitol Police Officer Daniel Amendola in the head and then punched officer Wyatt Hart, also in the head. He next punched Amendola once more. The officers weren’t seriously injured and were able to subdue Leffingwell and take him into custody. Prosecutors had requested a sentence of 27 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. It wasn’t clear what sentence Leffingwell requested, as his sentencing memorandum was filed under seal and was therefore not immediately available to the public." .
Republican AG Candidate Calls Capitol Rioters 'Heroes,' Brags Her Staff Members 'Were Participants in Jan. 6' excerpt: "A Republican candidate for attorney general in Minnesota bragged that people on her staff “were participants in January 6th” and called the Capitol rioters “heroes.” Lynne Torgerson is running to secure the GOP nomination on a very pro-insurrection platform. In a clip from a forum on Jan. 25 that was flagged by Heartland Signal on Thursday, she claimed President Joe Biden had been installed via a coup. Of course, what actually happened was that after a free and fair election, supporters of then-President Donald Trump stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 in an attempt to stop the election’s certification. “Ok, January 6th,” Torgerson began, “I should note that I have at least two people on my staff who were participants in January 6th. And quite honestly, it seemed at the time that the election of Joe Biden was actually somewhat of a coup, and that the person who won was President Trump. And so I think in a lot of ways, the people at the Capitol on January 6 were, um, heroes and trying to preserve who was actually elected.”"
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I don't get it WTF is going on? Fine the Judge rebukes the RNC claiming the Capitol Riot was Legitimate Political Discourse. so why the fuck did he only give the suspect six months in prison for punching two police officers. If you or I punched the Cop we'd be serving years in prison, and if I as an african american punched a cop I'd be locked up in a super-max prison for 10 years (although in truth I'd likely be lying in the gutter dying from a gunshot wound) Judge rebukes RNC's 'legitimate political discourse' language at Jan. 6 sentencing A federal judge on Thursday directly rebuked the Republican National Committee's resolution that declared the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol "legitimate political discourse" as she sentenced a man convicted of punching two officers during the assault to six months in prison. "It is not 'legitimate political discourse,' and it is not justified to descend on the nation's Capitol at the direction of a disappointed candidate and disrupt the electoral process," said D.C. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson before she sentenced Mark Leffingwell, a disabled former Marine from Washington state. "Cancelling out the votes of other people with a show force is the opposite of what America stands for." On top of his jail time, Leffingwell, 52, who suffered a traumatic brain injury while serving in the Army National Guard in Iraq, also faces two years probation, $2,000 in restitution charges and 200 hours of community service. He pleaded guilty to assaulting, resisting or impeding officers in October.
If every democratically controlled state did the same thing, we'd have a fighting chance of retaining the house in November. I don't like the idea but you have to fight fire with fire.
Trump repeatedly made the unusual remark at his rallies that it takes 15 flushes to flush a toilet. It seems consistent with trying to flush documents down a toilet.
The lawsuit challenging Georgia’s entire elections system, explained Georgia elections officials wanted the suit to be dismissed, but a judge is allowing it to move forward. By P.R. Lockhart Updated May 30, 2019, 5:00pm EDT The lawsuit challenging Georgia’s entire elections system, explained excerpt: "Two years ago, Kemp turned down the Department of Homeland Security’s offer to provide election and cybersecurity assistance before the 2016 election, saying that the move would have given the federal government too much power over the state system. In 2015, the state accidentally shared Social Security numbers and personal information of 6 million voters with political groups and media outlets (Kemp blamed the leak on a “clerical error”). A September ruling from US District Judge Amy Totenberg ruled that Georgia could not be forced to adopt paper ballots before the election, but said there was “a mounting tide of evidence of the inadequacy and security risks” in the state’s system. But when concerns about the state’s election security were raised days before the 2018 election, Kemp responded by claiming — with zero evidence — that Democrats had attempted to hack into Georgia’s voter system. In December, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that zero information supporting Kemp’s “unsubstantiated claims” was found. According to the plaintiffs, these issues — and others — hindered voters from participating in the election. “In the 2018 Election, Georgia citizens tried to exercise their constitutional rights but were denied the ability to elect their leaders,” the suit notes. “Defendants’ failed policies and limited to no oversight disenfranchised untold numbers of voters.”"
Settlement set Georgia ballot verification rules, contrary to Perdue’s claims excerpt: "A court settlement over Georgia absentee ballot verification, incorrectly called a “consent decree” by its critics, is being attacked by former U.S. Sen. David Perdue in his campaign for governor. The requirements of the settlement differ from Perdue’s assertions that it changed Georgia election law and led to unverified absentee ballots being cast. Opposition to the settlement is part of ongoing attempts by Donald Trump and his Republican supporters to undermine the legitimacy of the 2020 election for president, when Trump lost in Georgia by about 12,000 votes. Three ballot counts and multiple investigations upheld the results. The March 2020 settlement did two things: It called for election officials to check with their co-workers before rejecting an absentee ballot because of a mismatched signature, and it required election workers to quickly notify voters when their ballots were rejected, as mandated by a state election rule. Afterward, the rejection rate of absentee ballots because of signature issues remained unchanged in 2020 compared with the previous two general elections. About 0.2% of absentee ballots were rejected because of signature problems in each of those three elections, according to state election data. “The settlement agreement has been just blown out of proportion. We kept signature match,” Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said this week. “If there was any discrepancy about that, we had another additional set of eyes, so one person couldn’t reject it.”"
Trump and Perdue continue to incorrectly call it a 'consent decree'. Trump was complaining about the settlement agreement during his phone call to Raffensperger. Settlement set Georgia ballot verification rules, contrary to Perdue’s claims excerpt: "Unlike a consent decree, which is a negotiated agreement enforceable by the court, a settlement is an out-of-court resolution between the parties that doesn’t require ongoing judicial oversight."
Settlement set Georgia ballot verification rules, contrary to Perdue’s claims excerpt: "The settlement required enforcement of a State Election Board rule approved in February 2020 that election officials notify voters within one business day if their ballots were rejected within the last 11 days before Election Day, either by email, phone or mail. For ballots returned sooner, election officials would contact voters within three business days. The settlement didn’t change state law, but it did outline ballot verification procedures and instruct the secretary of state’s office to publish an official election bulletin with guidance to counties. Concerns about signature verification led Republican legislators to pass additional voter ID requirements in Georgia’s new voting law, Senate Bill 202. Under the law, voters must submit a driver’s license number, state ID number or photocopy of another form of acceptable ID to vote absentee in Georgia."
Trump should be praising the GA settlement agreement if he is supportive of voting integrity. Trump wrongly implies that the settlement agreement dispensed with signature verification. He seems frustrated that the settlement agreement took away the ability to selectively reject ballots for perceived signature mismatches without another person for a second assessment and without a requirement that the voter be notified about it promptly.
Loeffler and Perdue lost their lawsuit in December 2020. They also lost the special election in January 2021 for U.S. Senate seats. Trump is now endorsing Perdue for governor in the 2022 election instead of Kemp. Appeals court rejects Georgia absentee ballot signature lawsuit excerpt: "The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has denied a Republican Party effort to reject more absentee ballots in Georgia’s U.S. Senate runoffs by changing how election officials verify voters’ signatures. A three-judge panel ruled unanimously Sunday against the lawsuit brought by the political campaigns of Republican U.S. Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, as well as the Georgia Republican Party and the National Republican Senatorial Committee. It’s the latest in a series of court decisions rebuffing challenges to Georgia’s election rules and procedures following President Donald Trump’s 12,000-vote loss to Joe Biden. Loeffler and Perdue face Democrats Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff in runoffs Jan. 5 that will determine control of the U.S. Senate."
Loeffler had planned to object to the certification of Biden's win on Jan. 6 but changed her mind after Trump's riot. She showed that she is capable of having at least some rational thinking.
Trump's people withdrew four of their election-related lawsuits that involved Georgia. Trump tried to blame the failure of the suits on a settlement agreement in GA. Trump Legal Team Folds | Elections excerpt: (ATLANTA) – On the eve of getting the day in court they supposedly were begging for, President Trump and Chairman David Shafer’s legal team folded Thursday and voluntarily dismissed their election contests against Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger rather than submit their evidence to a court and to cross-examination. However, even in capitulation, they continue to spread disinformation. The President’s legal team falsely characterizes the dismissal of their lawsuits as “due to an out of court settlement agreement.” However, correspondence sent to Trump’s legal team prior to the dismissals makes perfectly clear that there is no settlement agreement. The Trump legal voluntarily dismissed their lawsuits rather than presenting their evidence in court in a trial scheduled for tomorrow in front of Cobb County Superior Court Judge Adele Grubbs. “Rather than presenting their evidence and witnesses to a court and to cross-examination under oath, the Trump campaign wisely decided the smartest course was to dismiss their frivolous cases,” Raffensperger said.
