The GOP is becoming increasingly unhinged. Column: Texas and Idaho show that red state attacks on transgender residents are getting more unhinged excerpt: "You have to hand it to Idaho lawmakers. In a season in which red-state politicians are battling each other in the competition for who can produce the most extreme anti-transgender policies, the Boise legislature is poised to take home the trophy. The Idaho House on Tuesday passed a measure that criminalizes gender-affirming therapies for children under 18, ranging from hormone and puberty-delaying treatments to surgery. These treatments would be felonies subject to penalties of up to life in prison. Idaho's real breakthrough, however, is that the crimes would also include arranging for such treatment out of state."

The GOP can go even more extreme and make the penalty life in prison for merely whispering about the possibility of performing such treatments out of state.
Tina Peters has been indicted for her activities that attempted to prove the 2020 election was stolen from Trump. Colorado clerk is indicted for election tampering and misconduct excerpt: "A grand jury has indicted a Colorado county clerk, Tina Peters, and her deputy on a laundry list of charges related to an election security breach in her office last summer that was influenced by former President Donald Trump's false claims that he won the 2020 election. The charges against Peters come as election workers around the U.S. face death threats amid a national disinformation campaign that has falsely alleged wide-scale election tampering in 2020. Peters' case is particularly worrisome to many who run elections as a sign that insiders might act upon those conspiracy theories, further undermining confidence in the voting process. Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters is seen in a Feb. 10 booking photo. Peters is under investigation for alleged election security breaches. Peters, who's the county clerk and recorder in Mesa County, in western Colorado, faces 10 counts, including seven felony charges and three misdemeanors. The felony charges include attempting to influence a public servant, identity theft, criminal impersonation and conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation. The misdemeanors include first-degree official misconduct, violation of duty and failure to comply with the requirements of the secretary of state."
Peters was arrested in February 2022 for allegedly illegally recording court proceedings for her deputy Belinda Knisley who had been arrested for burglary and cyber-crimes while using the computer of Tina Peters who had been relieved of her duties. https://www.thedenverchannel.com/ne...sted-for-allegedly-recording-court-proceeding

Capitol Rioter Risks Bond After Allegedly Assaulting Cop at Bar excerpt: "A Capitol rioter awaiting trial for felony charges related to his involvement in the Jan. 6 Capitol riots nearly risked his bond on Feb. 25 when he allegedly assaulted several people, including a police officer, in Maryland. John Andries was first indicted last February on five counts for his participation in the Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol. In videos detailed in court documents, Andries was seen entering the Capitol House through a broken window and encouraging the mob onward. More recently, after getting drunk at the Action Lounge & Billiards bar in Leonardtown, Maryland, the 36-year-old allegedly pulled a woman’s hair, refused to leave, and later kicked the sergeant attempting to arrest him several times, according to an arrest report. He was released on bond after the Leonardtown arrest and appeared in federal court for separate charges related to the Jan. 6 2021 Capitol riot on Tuesday. Prosecutors requested that his bond be revoked, citing his “unwillingness to abide by” the light restrictions he was placed under last year and “his disregard for this Court’s authority and the rule of law more broadly.” Andries apologized for the recent assault and said he had been “overwhelmed” by the publicity of the investigations into the Capitol riots. Rather than have his bond revoked, he has been ordered to undergo GPS monitoring, a 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew, regular substance testing, and an order to not consume alcohol."

MAGA-world fails to flock to Truth Social excerpt: "It’s a lackluster rollout that threatens a long-held dream for some on the right: that an app bolstered by the former president’s star power could jumpstart a social media ecosystem with the same power to amplify conservative voices as AM talk radio or Fox News. And it illustrates one of the great hurdles that conservatives have failed to overcome when trying to launch social media empires of their own: Their followers are eager to argue with the opposition, not necessarily to mingle among the like-minded."
Miller, who has no experience with running social media businesses, said in March 2021 Trump's new social media platform would completely redefine the game in a few months. Trump to Launch His Own Media Platform in '2 or 3 Months,' Senior Adviser Says excerpt: “I do think that we’re going to see President Trump returning to social media in probably about two or three months here, with his own platform,” Miller told Howard Kurtz on Fox News’ “MediaBuzz” on Sunday. “And this is something that I think will be the hottest ticket in social media, it’s going to completely redefine the game, and everybody is going to be waiting and watching to see what exactly President Trump does.”

RNC sues Jan. 6 committee. Republican National Committee sues the January 6 Committee excerpt: "The Republican National Committee sued the House select committee investigating the January 6 riot on the Capitol last year, saying it unlawfully seized information. Justin Riemer, the chief counsel for the RNC, criticised the committee for “seizing” confidential information about the committee’s internal activities and supporters for matters unrelated to the riot. “Nancy Pelosi and the Committee have weaponized Congress’ investigatory powers by issuing this staggeringly broad subpoena which tramples on core First Amendment rights of the RNC and millions of Americans,” he said in a statement on Wednesday. “The RNC is challenging this unconstitutional overreach so that one of America’s two major political parties may not use the force of government to unlawfully seize the private and sensitive information of the other.” Specifically the RNC cited the committee’s subpoenaing Salesforce for RNC data. After the January 6 riot, Salesforce stopped Republicans from using the email platform as a means of preventing any further violence."
Trump refinances mortgage on Trump Tower with $100 million loan - CNNPolitics excerpt: "The loan was signed days after New York investigators made public a letter from Mazars USA, the former President's longtime accounting firm, stating that the Trump Organization and its lenders should no longer rely on 10 years of financial statements. The Trump Organization has retained another accounting firm. The previous mortgage was provided by Ladder Capital, which has loaned the Trump Organization millions of dollars over the years, according to financial disclosures made public when Trump was president.
