    https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-called-several-gop-donors-155209241.html?.tsrc=fp_deeplink

    excerpt:

"Former President Donald Trump has asked several of his donors to refrain from boosting Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — who has emerged as one of the former president's most formidable potential rivals in a GOP presidential primary matchup — according to The Washington Post.

Trump was instrumental in shaping DeSantis' political rise in the Sunshine State, endorsing the little-known congressman in the 2018 gubernatorial primary over a more established rival, then-Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam.

With the MAGA movement behind DeSantis, he became unstoppable in the GOP primary that year, romping to an easy win over Putnam and narrowly winning the general election over Andrew Gillum, the onetime Democratic star."

Trump went back to Youngstown for the rally. He was there for a rally in July 2017.

He wasn't able to save the GM automotive jobs in Youngstown when he was president. A person at the rally was ejected for having a sign that mentioned that fact.

When he was president, Trump threatened GM over the impending plant closures.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/busi...fd9bcc-f26e-11e8-80d0-f7e1948d55f4_story.html

    excerpt:

"President Trump on Tuesday rebuked and threatened General Motors, intensifying his attacks on an automaker whose planned layoffs run counter to the president’s promise to bring back U.S. manufacturing jobs.

Trump urged GM to reconsider its plans to lay off 15,000 workers and close five plants, writing on Twitter that he would evaluate cutting off federal subsidies to the automaker if it went forward.

“Very disappointed with General Motors and their CEO, Mary Barra, for closing plants in Ohio, Michigan and Maryland,” Trump wrote over the course of two posts. “Nothing being closed in Mexico & China. The U.S. saved General Motors, and this is the THANKS we get! We are now looking at cutting all @GM subsidies, including . . . for electric cars.”"

Trump's best defense in New York lawsuit? 'Delay, delay, delay,' ex-prosecutors say

    excerpt:

""This is going to be a very difficult case for the defendants to win," said Duncan Levin, a former assistant district attorney and asset forfeiture chief in the Manhattan district attorney's office. "One of the best defenses to this matter is to delay, delay, delay."

James sued the Trumps and top executives at their company last week in connection with her yearslong probe into its business practices. The suit alleges more than 200 instances of fraud over 10 years and moves by Trump that "wildly exaggerated his net worth by billions of dollars."

James is seeking to permanently bar members of the Trump family from serving as officers of New York-based companies, as well as monetary damages and other penalties, including a five-year ban on the former president and his company from entering into any commercial real estate acquisitions in the state."

Donald Trump called Mitch McConnell a 'piece of shit' and an 'Old Crow' in a new Maggie Haberman book

    excerpt:

"Former President Donald Trump called his political-ally-turned-nemesis Mitch McConnell a "piece of shit," according to a new book.

Trump made the comments about the Senate Minority Leader to New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman in her upcoming book "Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America," an excerpt of which was published Sunday in The Atlantic.

According to Haberman, Trump thought congressional lawmakers would govern like Meade Esposito – a longtime "political fixer" in New York City politics who Trump said "ruled with an iron fist" – or like China's President Xi Jinping, per The Atlantic."

Jan 6 probe ‘aware’ of White House call to rioter as Trump facing legal peril – live

    excerpt:

"Congressman Jamie Raskin said the panel is “aware” of allegations that a White House switchboard patched a call from a rioter as the attack was underway, among “thousands of details” that the committee is investigating.

US Rep Adam Schiff has also has rebuked Mr Trump’s claim that he could declassify documents at the centre of a separate probe led by the US Department of Justice into his Mar-a-Lago estate simply by saying so, claims that “don’t demonstrate much intelligence of any kind,” according to the congressman.

Legal analysts have argued that the former president has put his lawyers in a precarious legal situation, after a federal judge demanded proof of Mr Trump’s dubious claims."

    https://www.thedailybeast.com/donald-trumps-special-master-delay-is-already-backfiring

    excerpt:

"On Friday, Dearie set an Oct. 28 deadline to know what documents Trump actually wants to hold back from the DOJ on the head-scratching theory that a former president can cite “executive privilege” that somehow supersedes the current executive branch.

In doing so, Dearie is moving significantly faster than the instructions he received to wrap things up by the end of November from the Trump appointee down south who played along with the intended delay tactic, U.S. District Judge Aileen M. Cannon.

Dearie is even bringing in reinforcements. In an order Thursday, Dearie said he’s tapping retired magistrate judge James Orenstein to help sort through the gargantuan mountain of 11,000 documents—and without hesitation ordered Trump to pay him $500 an hour to do it."

Trump’s ‘Special Master’ Delay Is Already Backfiring

    excerpt:

"Tobias called Dearie’s decision to recruit Orenstein “a master stroke.”

“That will expedite matters exponentially, and that’s all good. The whole point of this litigation is to delay,” Tobias said. “[Dearie] has a reputation as a no-nonsense, very professional, very experienced jurist… he has cut through the bullshit offered up by Trump’s lawyers and gotten to the point,” Tobias said.

The sped-up timeline means the DOJ will know sooner which non-classified documents it can access—and use as evidence that Trump kept and altered government records that don’t belong to him."

Trump’s ‘Special Master’ Delay Is Already Backfiring

    excerpt:

"For example, previous court filings disclosed that investigators recovered documents showing that “certain pages of presidential records had been torn up,” a violation of 18 U.S. Code § 2071 that bars anyone from ever again holding a political office in the United States. Those same documents could also support the other federal charge they’re considering against the former president, 18 U.S. Code § 1519, because the feds “developed evidence that government records were likely concealed and removed from the [Mar-a-Lago] storage room and that efforts were likely taken to obstruct the government’s investigation.” That second criminal charge carries the threat of a 20-year prison sentence.

“Judge Cannon tried to throw a lifeline of delay, and it didn’t work… [Dearie] is the kind of judge who’s been around a long time. He’s not going to tolerate wasted time. And he’s not going to be played,” said George Washington University law school professor Stephen A. Saltzburg, who has twice served as a special master himself."

    excerpt:

"Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, long entwined, continue on vile parallel paths: They would rather destroy their countries than admit they have lost.

They have each created a scrim of lies to justify lunatic personal ambition. And while it should be easy to see through these lies, both cult-of-personality leaders are able to con and bully enough people to remain puissant.

As our ancestors did, the Ukrainians are fighting an abusive overlord, against all odds, for democracy. It’s especially inspiring as a split screen with Trump and his MAGA forces trying to bulldoze democracy and rip away women’s rights. The Ukrainians are battling for a luminous ideal — unlike Trump and Putin, who are smashing a luminous ideal for their own benefit, driven by their dread of being called losers.

Both thugs are getting boxed in, Trump by a bouquet of investigations into his chicanery and Putin by an angry public pushback against his bloody vanity war."

"Both Putin and Trump are famous for accusing everyone else of their own sins.

Speaking at the U.N. on Thursday, Sergey Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister, said, “We have no doubt that Ukraine has finally turned into a Nazi-style totalitarian state where standards of international humanitarian law are trampled underfoot with impunity.”

Trump also constantly projects. And now he’s using telepathy. He told Fox’s Sean Hannity that he did not stash any classified papers at Mar-a-Lago because he merely had to think about declassifying them and it would be done. The Wizard of Id."

Trump has resorted to medieval sorcery to defend himself in the media but not in court. He was on Fox saying it to Hannity who listened stone-faced.

The special master Dearie has issued Trump a deadline to support such claims.

Meadows texts reveal direct White House communications with pro-Trump operative behind plans to seize voting machines - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"As allies of then-President Donald Trump made a final push to overturn the election in late-December 2020, one of the key operatives behind the effort briefed then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows about his attempts to gain access to voting systems in key battleground states, starting with Arizona and Georgia, according to text messages obtained by CNN.

Phil Waldron, an early proponent of various election-related conspiracy theories, texted Meadows on December 23 that an Arizona judge had dismissed a lawsuit filed by friendly GOP lawmakers there. The suit demanded state election officials hand over voting machines and other election equipment, as part of the hunt for evidence to support Trump’s baseless claims of voter fraud.

In relaying the news to Meadows, Waldron said the decision would allow opponents to engage in “delay tactics” preventing Waldron and his associates from immediately accessing machines. Waldron also characterized Arizona as “our lead domino we were counting on to start the cascade,” referring to similar efforts in other states like Georgia.

    “Pathetic,” Meadows responded."

Meadows texts reveal direct White House communications with pro-Trump operative behind plans to seize voting machines - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"The messages, which have not been previously reported, shed new light on how Waldron’s reach extended into the highest levels of the White House and the extent to which Meadows was kept abreast of plans for accessing voting machines, a topic sources tell CNN, and court documents suggest, is of particular interest to state and federal prosecutors probing efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

The messages also provide an early window into how an effort to gain access to voting machines through the courts and state legislatures morphed into a more clandestine endeavor that is now the subject of multiple criminal investigations. Despite attempts to distance himself from the more dubious attempts to keep Trump in office, the messages underscore how Meadows was an active participant, engaging with someone who former White House officials have described as a fringe outsider peddling outlandish ideas.

Waldron, a retired Army colonel with ties to Trump’s one-time national security adviser Michael Flynn, has emerged as a key figure in the broader scheme to overturn the election and was the architect of several extreme proposals for doing so. That includes sending Meadows a PowerPoint presentation outlining a plan for overturning the election, which was later used to brief Republican lawmakers, titled, in part: “Options for 6 Jan.”

Waldron also helped draft language for an executive order directing the Pentagon and Department of Homeland Security to seize voting machines on behalf of the White House."

Meadows texts reveal direct White House communications with pro-Trump operative behind plans to seize voting machines - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"Instead, with Waldron’s endorsement, they hired Cyber Ninjas to conduct the Maricopa audit, which ultimately proved that Biden won the county. Waldron remained heavily involved, emails obtained by CNN show. It’s unclear whether Waldron was paid for his work as Arizona Republicans have fought to keep that information from coming out publicly. Emails have emerged that show contractors connected to Waldron were paid hundreds of thousands of dollars by America Voting Rights Foundation, a Trump-affiliated PAC created last summer.

Over the past year, Waldron was also listed as a key participant for a series of “election integrity” planning sessions involving other notable Trump allies like Flynn and MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell.

Lindell and another known associate of Waldron, Conan Hayes, are subjects of a separate FBI investigation focused on an election system breach in Colorado.

In April, Waldron sued the House January 6 committee to block their efforts to obtain his cellphone data. Waldron’s own lawyer, Charles Bundren, has taken steps to shield his own communications from the committee."

I was surprised there wasn't much coverage in Trump's NC rally - they broke into the news once, and of course he was late to the party, so it was the old "well, back to you, Bill, how are those Panthers doing?" Boy, the crowd sure looked rough. I guess MTG came to offer her poisonous cackling.
