According to Pezzola, he stole a police shield from a police officer to protect himself from the police who started the danger.

His testimony is similar to that of former NY police officer and rioter Webster who said he grabbed the face of a police officer to show him that his hands were empty to prove that he was harmless.

Webster is serving ten years in prison for his role in the riot at the Capitol.

Webster's hands weren't empty. He had a police officer's face in them.

Both Pezzola and Webster are using their formal training backgrounds as an excuse to try to vindicate themselves.

Pezzola says his military training told him to run toward the danger (toward the Capitol police during the riot).

Webster said that his police training told him to show his empty hands to a police officer to show he was harmless (the hands that grabbed the face of the police officer).

    A rioter at the Capitol.

Using rioter Pezzola's brand of reasoning, the rioter's training told him to run to the scene of those who started the danger (journalists) and take defensive action (smash the equipment of the media).

Or rioter using Webster's reasoning: The rioter was politely showing the equipment that he didn't have any weapons on his feet.

Trump made a remarks in 2020 that he wanted the churches packed on Easter Sunday and singing (which would be an optimal environment for spreading the virus).

A reporter asked him why he selected Easter. Trump said that he thought it would be a good day.
