Trump is still promoting the suburban housewives ploy. He supposedly fixed their dishwashers. Lately, he's been saying he will keep them safe. FBI data shows America is seeing a 'considerable' drop in crime. Trump says the opposite. excerpt: "The suburban housewives actually like Donald Trump. You know why? Because I'm the one who's gonna keep them safe,” Trump said recently, referencing a voting block that could swing the election.
FBI data shows America is seeing a 'considerable' drop in crime. Trump says the opposite. excerpt: "“Murder plummeted in the United States in 2023, likely at one of the fastest rates of decline ever recorded,” Asher wrote online. The decrease in murders is "potentially historically large," Asher told USA TODAY, and it's not just killings that are declining. Preliminary 2023 FBI data “paint the picture" of a big decrease in overall crime, he wrote. That’s not the picture Trump and his supporters are painting on the campaign trail, with voters likely to hear plenty more in the coming months that attempts to cast President Joe Biden as weak on crime. A House Judiciary Committee field hearing scheduled for Friday in Philadelphia is expected to focus on the topic, picking up on a theme the GOP-led panel covered during similar sessions last year in New York and Chicago."

[Editor’s note: The estimate of $316 billion was made by Bloomberg Economics, not Moody’s." Trump: Yeah. Moody’s doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

Among other Trump loyalists, AG of Texas, Paxton, showed up at Trump's criminal trial in NY. Paxton tried to help Trump overturn the 2020 election by submitting a claim to the Supreme Court that said the state of Texas was damaged by the way swing states that Trump lost conducted their elections. Paxton lost. Trump grumbled he needed more support at trial. Now his allies are showing up. excerpt: "Trump’s son Eric Trump joined him in court — the first time a family member had appeared with him for the trial at 100 Centre St. Also with him for the first time Tuesday were his strategist and de facto campaign chief Susie Wiles and longtime adviser Dan Scavino. Trump’s legal strategist Boris Epshteyn was by his side two days last week. And Natalie Harp, a communications aide, has been present. Two of Trump's higher profile surrogates also attended court — Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Club for Growth Chairman David McIntosh. After the trial, Paxton spoke to the press in Trump's defense."

Trump always seems to have an escape hatch. Mary Trump on uncle’s trial: ‘As deep the trouble that he is in, it may not be enough’ excerpt: “And the problem is that we’re seeing that these are being treated as two entirely different people. It’s as if the fact that he is a criminal defendant, the fact that he committed alleged crimes against the United States of America have no impact whatsoever on his relevance or his standing as a candidate for the presidency.” She continued, saying that she finds it “really troubling because it seems that there’s always a way out for him. There’s always somebody willing to bail him out. Even if it looks like there’s no escape…. And I don’t know it worries me quite honestly that as deep the trouble is that he’s in, it may not be enough.”
It may be helping Trump. He has the public fantasizing along with him, like he fantasizes about the 2020 election being stolen from him. Trump's RCP favorability rating has climbed slowly from 38% since summer 2023 when he was being indicted in multiple cases. He's now at at 43%, which is near the highest since the start of his presidency in 2017. Biden is at about 40%. The difference between Trump's favorable and unfavorable rating is currently a negative 5%, about the best it's ever been. He's never had a positive margin. His favorable has always been lower than unfavorable in the RealClearPolitics survey by at least 5%.
Examples: In 2022 Axos bank bailed out Trump for his $225 million worth of loans that were due. In 2024 Don Hankey, a top shareholder of Axos bank, financed Trump's $175 million bond. A judge effectively bailed out Trump by reducing his bond in his NY civil fraud case from $438 million to $175 million, even after Trump boasted he had enough money to pay the original $454 million and a bond company was willing to finance the $454 million. The U.S. Supreme Court is entertaining the idea of bailing out Trump by giving him immunity so that he can freely commit crimes without prosecution because, without immunity, he might commit crimes to avoid prosecution (such as committing crimes to stay in the White House another term).

Exclusive: Bernie Sanders worries young people are underestimating the threat from Trump excerpt: "We can be extremely upset at the Biden administration for their policies with regard to Israel and Gaza, but the difficulty is that in the real world that you live in, you've got to take a look at a whole lot of things," he said, sitting in the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committee hearing room on Capitol Hill. "On the other hand, I would hope that most of the young people and protestors do not want to see Donald Trump, who is a racist, a sexist, a homophobe who doesn't acknowledge the reality of climate change, become elected president of the United States."

"I know it was a lot of fights in the country," he said. "It was kind of like a civil war, but financially, it was better." "I think it's hard because people don't like things to cost more than they did before. And until that adjusts for everyone in their minds, it's going to be hard to convince people perhaps otherwise," said Julie Smith, an economist at Lafayette College in Northampton County.
