Some of Trump's supporters already have. Some are saying that Biden's campaign people deliberately didn't give him the performance enhancers so that he would look bad so that they could take him off the campaign. Too Much Winning? Even Trump’s Fans Are Uneasy After Biden’s Weak Debate. excerpt: "Throughout Mr. Trump’s comeback campaign, his supporters have told anyone who would listen that Mr. Biden was nothing more than the tool of a shadowy establishment that would, at the right moment, pull him to insert a more formidable candidate. Now, as they see it, this exact plot is playing out before the eyes of the nation. “We all suspected it," said Phil Capron, 40, a Virginia Beach resident and real estate investor. “And now that’s the official narrative that every major outlet is running with.” The suspicion flowed Friday. “They did this to get him out,” said Tara Silvasy, 55, a contractor for FEMA. But who is the ‘they’? “The party,” she said, simply."

At a Virginia rally, Trump talked like Hannibal Lecter is a real person. 'His Brain Is Mushy Oatmeal': Donald Trump Slammed for Thinking Fictional Character Hannibal Lector Is Real During Virginia Rally excerpt: "Trump first mentioned the cannibalistic serial killer played by Anthony Hopkins in The Silence of the Lambs by claiming undocumented people are "coming from prisons and jails, mental institutions and insane asylums like Silence of the Lamb." "The press always says, 'Why does he ramble about Silence of the Lamb?' The late, great Hannibal Lecter. He'd like to have you over for dinner. Did you ever? Don't do it. If he suggests, 'I'd like to have you for dinner,' don't go. But these are the people — these are the people that are coming into our country and they are coming in numbers that nobody can believe," he ranted."
'His Brain Is Mushy Oatmeal': Donald Trump Slammed for Thinking Fictional Character Hannibal Lector Is Real During Virginia Rally excerpt: "Can someone explain to me why Donald Trump is praising Hannibal Lector during his campaign stop? This is the guy you want us to believe is the better option over President Joe Biden and his administration? No one from Trump’s former administration will even work with him.…and the rest are serving jail sentences," another person pointed out.
BIden could have referred to Trump as 'convicted felon Trump' at least a few times during the debate to drive the point home. Biden stated during the debate that the only person on the stage who is a convicted felon is Trump. The best Trump could do is say that Biden might become a convicted felon after he's out of office.
Gavin Newsom's chances of beating Donald Trump, according to polls excerpt: "A March Rasmussen Reports survey of 912 likely voters found that former President Trump would lead by 17 points (51 percent to 34) if Newsom were the 2024 Democratic nominee. Despair in the air: For many voters, the Biden-Trump debate means a tough choice just got tougher excerpt: "Trump’s disregard for the facts suffused his arguments, though he was rarely challenged on the specifics during the debate. On abortion, for example, one of America’s most divisive issues for generations, the former Republican president claimed there is universal agreement that states should decide on the legality of it. There is ferocious argument about that. But did that matter? The public reaction, in dozens of interviews across the country, brought to mind Bill Clinton’s post-presidency assessment of what voters want in fraught times: “When people feel uncertain, they’d rather have someone strong and wrong than weak and right.”"
It's been about one month since Trump was convicted of 34 felonies. The RCP running average of his favorable rating recorded by various polling groups over that month has dropped about 1%. It's the slight drop seen on the far right of the graph. The largest drops of about 5% occurred after the riot at the Capitol and after the dismal 2022 GOP midterm election results. Trump recovered from those drops after a couple months. Trump has generally maintained an RCP favorable rating in the low 40's since he started his presidential term. image:
If the Supreme Court grants Trump immunity, its decision will be in harsh contrast to what the appeals court wrote. Article from February 2024. Appeals court rejects Trump's immunity claim in federal election interference case excerpt: "We cannot accept former President Trump's claim that a President has unbounded authority to commit crimes that would neutralize the most fundamental check on executive power -- the recognition and implementation of election results," wrote the judges. "Nor can we sanction his apparent contention that the Executive has carte blanche to violate the rights of individual citizens to vote and to have their votes count." "At bottom, former President Trump's stance would collapse our system of separated powers by placing the President beyond the reach of all three Branches," they wrote.
Only in the United States can a candidate blatantly lie literally nonstop during a debate and be declared the winner.
